After hearing Lawrence read some of the poetry in this debut collection I couldn't wait for Descend to be published. I rushed to purchase and read it cover to cover immediately. The prose is full of raw emotion. My personal favorite is Ringmaster. This is a must read for anyone who has survived their teenage years or is currently struggling through them.

In clear prose, V.E. Lawrence gets to the heart of anxiety, depression, and other mental health diseases that torment the mind. The emotion underlying these poems is ever present, lying just beneath the surface. A lovely read, one that I will revisit time and again in the future.
