This one time, I made Sims of me and my boyfriend. They looked just like us, and I even gave them our personality traits. But when it came time to play them, oof. They slept. They woke up and went to work. They came home and ate dinner, then watched tv, read books, or played video games until it was time to go to bed and do it all again. IT WAS BORING. These weren't Sims that I wanted to have torrid love affairs or drown in the pool, so they lived their boring lives, echoing my boring life.
That's how I felt about this book. This comic was just like how me and my boyfriend are with each other, appreciating each other's cuteness and butts. The only thing was that it doesn't look like us. So even though this was fairly enjoyable, I thought it was pretty boring.
Edit 8/17/20 - Hahhahaha what a crap review. "Four stars, it was boring." I hate myself sometimes.
I supported the kickstarter for this book, got the book and a ton of fun extras! This one is full of new comics featuring Sarah and Stef's life and their abundance of kitties. Well new, not all of them were new, but that is because I follow her Twitter. :P I loved that she did the night comics with a black border/on a black page, and the day comics on white. I had so much fun reading this one, and I was squeeing when I saw the proposal again. And of course squeeing during all the other cute moments these two have together. And laugh due to all the silliness and cats. At the end of the book we have several redrawn comics, photographs of their journeys, and also how she makes the comics. I can't wait for more Super Adventures and also other Sarah Graley works. <3
Another fun collection of diary comics. These two would be fun to hang out with. I love how she included photos and thumbnail sketches in the bonus content. Stef has a great head of hair! Also, the actual design and size of this book is fantastic.
I love Sarah Graley’s comics so fucking much, I don’t even have anything eloquent to say about it. But I do keep texting snapshots of them to my friends, and they are ALWAYS well-received. I got this book as part of a bundle when I backed the Kickstarter and I’m so glad I did!
I read the first few pages at the library and it was funny. The art is nothing special but some of the observations are god. However this book didn’t evolve and just wore thin and became repetitive.
I bought this at San Diego comic con in 2019, Sarah Graley and Stef signed it for me, and I think that this is the best Our Super Aventure book, which will appeal to readers of Sarah Andersen.
I received a copy of this graphic novel from Margot Wood and the lovely team at Oni Press after BookExpo this year, where I spent some time talking to Margot about how I wanted to get more into graphic novels, but I wasn't quite sure where to start as a contemporary fan. Our Super Adventure was one of the books I got, and I wasn't sure what to expect, but I actually really liked it! So without further ado, let's get into my review.
I really liked the cute, short illustrations in this book. Time passed pretty quickly while I was reading, and I managed to finish all 200+ pages in less than an hour. The book itself is a pretty small square, and each comic is only 4 little panels on a single page, so it makes for easy reading. It was also really interesting to read this book, knowing it was based on actual conversations and things that happened between Sarah and Stef, as real people, and as the authors. I thought that all of the cats were so adorable, and so were Stef and Sarah as a couple. I also read the first Kim Reaper book by Sarah, so I knew I recognized the illustations in this book as well!
Another thing I enjoyed about this book was that it didn't have a narrative format, it was more of a collection of the comics about them that Sarah has done over the years, so it could be picked up and put down whenever. I read it in a single sitting because I was having a graphic-novel reading marathon, but if you didn't have the time to get through everything in one shot, this is the kind of book that you can put down and pick up again after any period of time, because there's no singular cohesive narrative that you have to fall back into. You don't even need to read the book in order if you don't want to!
Overall, I enjoyed reading Our Super Adventure. Seeing the daily interactions between Sarah and Stef and their adorable little family, and all of their jokes and sweet little moments, was really heartwarming and reminded me just how comfortable true love can be. If you're looking for a quick read or a good book to put on your coffee table to flip through whenever you need a pick-me-up, I'd definitely recommend this one!
Another hilarious collection filled with cats, odd relationship moments, and of course, fart jokes. This is such a fun, lighthearted collection. The artwork is adorable as usual. I found this book highly relatable in terms of sharing a home with a cat and being a complete goofball around my significant other. There were plenty of pages I showed to my husband and we both had a good laugh about the similarities to our own lives. My husband also read this book in its entirety (he is not a huge reader) and enjoyed it as well.
As with the first book, if you don't like humor about bodily functions, you may not enjoy this book. I didn't do a side-by-side comparison, but overall it felt like there were less fart/butt/poo jokes in this one, although there are still quite a few (including a lot of cat butts, because you pretty much can't have a cat without being made aware of their cat butt). Perfect for people who enjoy gross humor and the oddities of intimate relationships.
At the end, there is a section of redrawn comics and it is very cool to see how Graley's art style has changed. There is also a Photo Diary of some of their adventures at various cons and travels, a Thumbnail Gallery to show the progression of the comics, and an About Our Cats section, complete with IRL pics.
A great book for fans of Graley, cat-lovers, and those who are fortunate enough to have a relationship with someone they feel completely comfortable with to be gross around.
Love these books! So many kitties! So adorable! I just can't get enough!! Squee!! More comics about the couple's four cats, their relationship and going to the next level plus the fun things they do. Great art and funny comic strips.
The components are pretty similar to the first volume - hugs, cats, butts, and of course cat butts. Yet somehow I found this much less winning. I want to say that perhaps it feels more insular, but really I suspect it's just the ongoing effect of the 2020s eroding my capacity for joy.
2.5 stars? again...the couple is cute. too cute. with too many inside jokes that are funny to only them. Buuuuttttt, the cat jokes are relatable so there's that.
This was a really cute graphic novel. I really enjoyed all of the cats and Sarah Graley is a really funny author and illustrator. I absolutely loved it.
