This is not a book to be read once and set aside. It’s a book to contemplate and be honest with ourselves. I’ve just finished my first reading and I’m about to start again, this time stopping to examine my own negative feelings about myself. If you’re ready to stop bashing yourself and start seeing yourself as Jesus sees you, then you won’t want to miss this one!

Very good and thought provoking. I’m thankful I don’t struggle with a lot of what was written here but I’m hoping it will help me in helping others close to me.

I am very enthusiastic about ‘If You Could See As Jesus Sees’, an exceptional new book for Christian women of all ages who may have unresolved challenges. The premise, from which the book is titled, is what our life/ relationships/ community/ relationship with God would look like if we could see ourselves (and others) as Jesus sees us.
With honesty and vulnerability, Elizabeth Oates shares examples from her own life to illustrate various areas of spiritual growth we might need as she has lived them. It is a highly-readable study using scripture to guide the reader to solutions for each of the challenges. It is for any woman who has ever been driven by shame, feelings of being ugly or of hating something about oneself, inadequate or incompetent, or even unforgivable. These are not unfamiliar feelings or convictions among many Christian women, and there is a way to defeat those feelings and better-equipped to share God’s love with others.
Each chapter includes the author’s illustration of the feeling, how it might begin in our heart and what the Bible says about it. There are places for journaling what we think our life and other areas would look like if we would see ourselves as Jesus does, and gently-probing questions designed to help us do the footwork with the Lord to grow past those challenges. These questions help us utilize the book as a Bible study guide; there is a set for our own use and a set to be used in a group study that protects each woman’s private thoughts unless she chooses to share.
At the end of the book are four appendices relating to specific chapters; each chart in them can be copied and filled in, kept as a special reference, and perhaps completed again at another season of one’s life.
This book is a valuable tool in any woman’s Bible study collection. The author shares honestly, sometimes with humor and others with love and sensitivity as each situation calls for it. It does not speak of any specific denomination or promote one over another. The Word of God is the ultimate resource for each situation. There are definitely areas I could use it for, and I would feel completely comfortable suggesting it for use to a friend or acquaintance. I highly recommend ‘If You Could See as Jesus Sees’ for any Christian woman struggling with any of the challenges addressed in it, or to Bible study leaders looking for something that might benefit a variety of women in their congregations.
With a grateful heart, I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own, and no monetary compensation was received for this review

I loved the cover of this book and I loved what the cover said: "Inspiration for a Life of Hope, Joy, and Purpose". How awesome is that? After reading this book, I can say that not only do I love the cover, I love the pages in between too! I always love any help and guidance I can get in the areas of Hope, Joy and Purpose!

If you are a woman driven by shame, or if you have feelings about your own inadequacy or incompetency, or if you think you are unforgivable or unloveable, this book is for you. If you experience self-loathing of any kind - such as hating that one "something" about yourself or if you have feelings of being ugly, this book is for you. If you're like me and you are always comparing yourself to others to measure your own worth, than this book is for you too. This book tells us that none of these feelings are familiar among many Christian women and that there is a way to defeat those feelings and to provide us with the tools necessary to share God's love.

As you begin to see yourself through His lens of beauty, love, forgiveness, and mercy--you will begin to feel differently about yourself. It will also challenge you to love others as Jesus loves them in the most subtle yet inspiring way. Using relevant examples, humor, and the Bible, the author, Elizabeth Oates, shows us exactly who we are and shares the truth of who we are in Christ.

When we see ourselves as God sees us, it is then that we can truly be the women He intends for each of us to be. If You Could See as Jesus Sees is an excellent book for us as women - as daughters, mothers and sisters in Christ.

Ms. Oates provides us with the necessary scripture to prove exactly how Jesus sees us and how He has seen us even since before we were born. This book gives us exactly what the cover promises to do - to provide us with inspiration for a life of hope, joy and purpose drawing from the strength that we find in Jesus. The book is written with ten chapters outlining ten key points and gives us personal reflection questions and group reflection questions at the end of each chapter. Because of the style of this book, it lends itself to be used as an individual study or a group study book.

I was provided with a complimentary digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review and unbiased opinion.

This book is a great resource for any woman. We've all experienced at least some of these emotions, and the author's humorous and honest approach mixed with nuggets of wisdom from the Word made it a great balance. There are plenty of journaling opportunities, too, if the reader is so inclined. I don't like to skip anything while I'm reading, but this book allows the reader to skip to the parts that speak to her and what she may need topically, which offers itself as a good reference resource, too.

Elizabeth Oates "If You Could See as Jesus Sees"

This book is a great read for any woman walking the journey called life. Elizabeth shares the many things that block our view of how Jesus see us. Too often, we get caught up in fears, feelings of inadequacy, isolation, and discontentment. This book is well-written and Elizabeth comes alongside the reader, not proclaiming to have it all together, but rather, as a friend, reminding the reader to view themselves as God's very precious and beloved child. She reminds us that how we view ourselves is a key component in our relationship with God. One key point that stood out to me personally was: "Maybe our discontentment stems from wanting to fit into the world instead of wanting to fit into heaven" and the book reminds us to see ourselves as a blessing and not as a burden.

"If You Could See as Jesus Sees" also provides an in-depth guide for additional study for both groups and individuals.

Great book that is written for women lacking in self worth and self esteem. The author gives us scripture that shows us how Jesus sees us and how He has seen us even since before we were born. This book gives us inspiration for a life of hope, joy and purpose drawing from the strength that we find in Jesus.
It is written with ten key points in ten chapters with personal reflection questions and group reflection questions at the end of each chapter. Because of how it is written it can be used either individually or in a group study quite well.

I was given an ARC for an honest review. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

Upon receiving this book from Barbour Publishing I was not expecting to get anything out of it. I was skeptical that this book had anything to speak on in my life and doubted it would impact me in any way. However, God knew otherwise. Many personal battles I have been struggling with for the past year were addressed between these pages, allowing me to rethink how I view my life versus how Jesus views my life. Women struggle daily with self-doubt and confidence issues whether from the outside world or from within their very own minds. This book helped me to start viewing my worth less on what others and myself think and more on how we should really view ourselves as: loved by the Creator.

This book is full of personal anecdotes that help readers feel as though the author is on this journey with them. It's not a quick read because it requires personal reflection. It would be a good book for a study group since it includes several discussion questions for each chapter.
