Serial Killers

Rate this book
Lust, power, madness and money drive us all in our daily lives, yet we know the difference between right and wrong, and most of us don’t act on our impulses. But there are people we mix with every day who are certifiable psychopaths, lacking empathy and remorse. Mix this cold-heartedness and disconnection from society with the pressures of everyday life and you have the makings of a serial killer. True Serial Killers details cold-hearted serial killers from Jack the Ripper to Blue Beard and La Bestia, right through to modern day horrors. From the earliest recorded accounts right up to the modern day and using shocking first-hand evidence, this book delves into the horrific psychology of multiple killers to expose to the reader the horrific reality of these cold-hearted psyches.

This was an odd book to read. The content was interesting, especially the fact many lesser known killers were covered. But it was written so poorly that it was occasionally distracting. The book is taken from the case files of the Daily Mirror (which might well explain the bad writing...). There was a lot of inconsistencies - victims numbers not adding up, speeches/quotes from the killers written to blend in with the rest of the writing for one killer while being in italics for another, the book being published after a serial killer had been executed yet him being ‘still alive’ in the section about him and more. I picked it up from a charity shop on a three for £1 offer so I don’t bemoan what I paid - had I bought it new I would have a lot more to say!

All in all - interesting for those who enjoy reading about serial killers, minor torture for those who like a book written well

Call me weird but I almost enjoyed reading this. I always found serial killers interesting, what motivates them and inspires such heinous acts. I found all the answers in this book. From the very beginning of the term "serial killer" to now, you will find everyone in here.

Really enjoyed this book. Good writing, interesting cases, crazy how they're all based on real life, it's a nice documentary in a book.
