That was heartwrenching at times and I loved that. To be honest, I wouldn't even have said no to a sad ending but of course, I'm glad how it ended.

I really liked the world and the idea of the story.

Makoto was such a lovely character who cares for his friends deeply. He seems like a carefree character at first but he takes things very seriously. He also holds himself at fault for his father's grief and fate and feels like he has to be strong and accept his fate with dignity because of that. He's also very open and sincere in his love for Calen which was so nice to see.

Calen will always be a little mysterious. Although we know what he did before he came to Limbo I would've liked a deeper glimpse into Calen's life especially his personal surroundings (did he have friends, a lover? It seems like there was some kind of an important connection there because of the glimpse into his life during his first fight in Limbo). But I get why this wasn't possible in a two-volume series.
Calen is very serious about his work as the Reaper although he is quite skeptical at first. I think because of his military background he subconsciously knows how to react, takes responsibilities and grows with them. I love how he is with Makoto, because he is so loving and mindful of him.

Can I just say that I adored the long ears, too?

I have two negative points about the story.

I'm not sure how much weight I want to put on the last two points when it comes to my rating. But I think the story still deserves 5 stars as a whole.

The real injustice here is that this is the last volume. Such a sweet story with incredible characters and a wonderful setting, I am so in love with everything from the art style to the interactions between characters. Gorgeous from start to finish.

I found this to be a surprisingly enjoyable read. I appreciated the continued world building from the first volume. Some of the details could have been explained in a bit more depth, but with the volumes being fairly short, I thought the author did a good job.

I don't have much to add to this review that I didn't include for the first volume, but I will say that there were definitely some great, heartfelt, human moments in the story, and I loved those.

Overall, really interesting concept and a series I would definitely recommend!

I love the way Haji draws. She's capable of visually compelling, quiet, intimate scenes as well as dramatic action shots, and everything in between. While I'm not too partial to religiously-tinged supernatural stories, this one caught my attention.

It’s about Calen, a soldier whose record in battle seems to straddle that of a war hero and war criminal, has been banished to Limbo to earn a chance at redemption, and the love he finds there with Makoto, a boy brought back to life by his father in the form of a clay golem. We learn more about Seishin, Makoto’s father, who is also in Limbo for bringing Makoto back to life through the dark arts, as well as the creepy, amoral or immoral “angels” who seem to control Limbo.

There’s drama, action, sex, humor and a strong story supported by some darn good characterization in these pages. I'd love to see more by this artist, but there's not much available yet in English.

This was a lovely end to a fluffy and lovely little story. The story went in an entirely different direction than I expected and honestly that's just fine. I'm actually pretty tickled that the author completely abandoned the storyline of Calen's amnesia and then even made fun of themselves for dropping what should have been a really serious story beat. Fair enough I suppose lol!

But what did happen in the story told a wonderful story of love and loss. It was very pretty, but I don't think it's one of those stories that will stick in your head for too long. I really enjoyed it because of how sweet it was, but overall it did leave me wanting something more. Not much more... Just a bit though. I did enjoy the Warden and MVP to the doctor. Yes, he caused himself and his son a lot of grief, but his story was so touching and beautiful and I am here for it.

Definitely recommend this one if you're in the mood for a quick, light-hearted story.

This volume was the sadder of the 2 with things mainly focusing on Makoto’s father, and Makoto’s unique situation as a doll living in Limbo. There were some heartfelt moments, tearful moments, a few tense moments, and lots of Makoto and Calen being in love.
Overall I wish there was another volume or 2 since some things were left unanswered, as well as, to give Makoto and Calen a little epilogue.

***Thoughts after reading***
Strange how I really enjoyed the story but something about it fell flat for me. The art is gorgeous and there is actually a plot! I've loved stories with less.

Rated 1 star lower than my review of volume 1, just because once you realize they’re setting up for the big conflict resolution it becomes kinda obvious that the conflict will be resolved. Redundant to say I know, but the ultimate tragedy of potentially losing your partner is undercut a little bit by this setup that happens like midway through this volume. This had the potential to move me to tears but it didn’t because I kinda figured it would all work out.

That being said… im SO glad it all worked out. I love these two so much. Author got me thinking about their future and shit, and what will happen once Calen’s soul is ready to reincarnate. And what is the cost Makoto has to pay in order to turn down reincarnation? The ultimate tragedy is not prevented, simply delayed. Or maybe they can somehow stay in purgatory together forever, which is insanely doubtful since it was established that this comes at a high cost. I guess that is the beauty of love, that it is finite no matter the context, and we still choose to love in spite of that.

This is why I want more slice of life bl, because I could fully have read an entire third volume of them just living the rest of their lives in purgatory, even if it’s relatively conflict free and they don’t do much of anything at all.

Anyways. Lemme go pontificate or something now.

I’m sad Love in Limbo was only two volumes but I absolutely adored this last instalment.

I liked seeing the question of morality when it comes to life and death, and the question of how far one will go to save the person they love and if the price to pay is worth it in the end.

I would’ve liked to have seen more of the other caretakers though as I found them to be interesting characters and wished there were a couple volumes exploring the world of limbo a bit more and the dynamics with its residents.

[rating = B-]

This was a good conclusion to the twosome's struggle for love and for their souls. After discovering that Makoto is made of clay, a golem, Calen (the reaper) must find a way to save him, so his soul doesn't disappear when/if his father (and creator) reincarnates. A touching and sweet second volume. It would be fun to have another chapter or two, but it might be more filler, so, it's best that it ends here.

Cute story. I was bracing myself for when it’d get dark, but it never happened thank god. It’s surprisingly wholesome for a story that takes place in the underworld. I like the romance, but I must say that the relationship between Makoto and his father got to me more. There was some excess moisture in my eyes, but it must have been sweat. It was a bit hot at the moment. Yes, that must be it.

I can’t finish this nor can I rate it. I do read a lot. And I mean A LOT. That causes me to get storylines mixed and even parts forgotten. I don’t remember reading book 1 of this. At all. That’s says something. This second volume was also chock full of exposition that I really didn’t want. I have only gotten rid of 1 or 2 yaoi series out of my collection but this will be one of them.

Es una injusticia que solo sean 2 volúmenes de esta historia, deberían ser por lo menos unos 10.

En este volumen hay más drama, hasta llore en alguna parte de la trama, pero el manga y el dibujo es espectacular.

¡Es un gran manga!

Ahh, I loved it! Good ending, Makoto remains adorable, the boss angel was fun... I would easily have read a 10 volume expansion of this plot, but it worked really well with the focus on the Reaper, Golem and his dad as it was. Definitely happy I bought this and want more from the author.

It makes me very sad that this was the very last volume, but I’m glad I picked it up. I loved that there was a plot intermingled with with the smut. It was a very beautiful romance and it ended so wonderfully.

Thanks to Edelweiss for the e-arc!

Calen and Makoto are still sweet idiots in love. A few supernatural hijinks but mostly just fluff to end this series.

This volume had a lot packed into it, so sometimes the transitions were quite brisk. A cute enough conclusion for our protagonists though.
