I bought the audiobook to listen to when running, but have had to skip half the stories due to the male narrator (Adam Verner). He over accentuates everything, hamming it up to the point of distraction. So irritating.
Such a shame, because the stories I have listened to (read by the female) are enjoyable.
Read these stories aloud to my son! Not only runner stories in here but walkers too. This one seemed to have more “everyday” people vs the other Chicken Soup running book.
It has been a while since I read a Chicken Soup for the Soul book and I forgot how laced in Christianity they can be. It's not bad, just intense when in audio form and especially grouped together. I really liked the layout of this book in loose themes of family/travel/perseverance/endurance/community. Personally I liked that while some were about NYC, there were a LOT of marathons and ultras focused, with a special focus on Boston and resilience when this book was being collected. A good listen for while on a run.
Oh my, but what a wonderful book! I read as if I were there with each person as they experienced life — the exuberant joys and heartbreak sorrows, and the new discoveries and triumphs. I just hated for the stories to end…so real and encouraging and inspirational. Read this book. Slowly. Some stories you’ll read more than once. Some will stay with you on your runs…and help you in so many meaningful ways.
Good book with lots of stories of different running experiences. Went all over the place, which was kind of the point, however was not always the most exciting. Overall good book about the benefits of running.
