Oh wow, seriously wow, the build up to Hannah and Rhys story has been slow and somewhat torturous for a die hard Deanna Chase fan...lol
Was it worth the wait? Absolutely positively 1000% YES...
Talk about a decade of mixed signals, mixed communications and wacky ideas on how someone else should feel without letting them make their own decisions.
In the end Hannah and Rhys learnt the most valuable lesson of all ‘Love will always win out if you both truly believe’ 💜

I really enjoyed everything about this story, the drama, the anxiety building, the tears and the unconditional love from everyone Keating Hollow is more than a magical town, it’s a magical family filled with love and joy, no matter what they always have each other’s backs.

I have to say I’m really exited for Luna and Chads story and come on Deanna, Brian needs his HEA to 😀🥰

This is an enchanting story filled with love, friends, and family that kept turning the pages until the final one turned. Hanna and Rhys are full of life and love. These are characters I would not mind calling friends. I laughed, cried, and threw my hands up in frustration a time or two. It is a journey I enjoyed following along.

The Witches of Keating Hollow series has been a blast. I’ve been devouring the books off Kindle Unlimited.

I just love the small town of Keating Hollow. It’s a wonderful magical community where everyone knows everyone and what’s going on. Each book in the series brings us a new couple to enjoy as well as new drama and emotional struggles. I just love the light magical feel and the heartfelt romances. This series is full of facing what life throughs at us, healing oneself, finding love and family and friendships.

*****

Hanna Pelshlost sister died to a mysterious disease and she spends her time letting the doctors study her. Rhys Silver works at the brewery. He’s got everything he wants except a partner to share his life with.

Hanna & Rhys’s romance is a slow build, but its worth the wait. It’s a decade of mixed signals, mixed up communication and wacky ideas on how someone should feel instead of letting them decided. These two are full of life and love. I laughed, cried, and got frustrated at times too. It’s a journey full of love, friends, and family.

Courage of the Witch by Deanna Chase is the fifth tale in Witches of Keating Hollow series. Hanna Pelsh is part owner in the Incantation Café with her mother. She bakes up tasty treats while her mother, Mary manages the café. Hanna has been missing her friend, Rhys Silver since he pulled away over a year ago. They had been friends for a long time, and Rhys helped her deal with the loss of sister, Charlotte to a rare autoimmune disease. Just when they were starting to get become more than friends, Rhys suddenly pulled back. Rhys works at Townsend Brewery where he has been working on a new line of ciders. He keeps active, but Rhys misses Hanna. After what he learned about a year ago, Rhys does not feel it would be fair to Hanna to become more than friends. Mary Pelsh and Barb Garber decide to set up their children. Hanna is introduced to Chad Garber a pianist who has just moved to town and he immediately invites her out to eat. Rhys sees the pair together and the green eyed monster rears its ugly head. It is time for Rhys to make a choice regarding Hanna. Tell Hanna what he learned that caused him to withdraw from their relationship or let her go forever.

Courage of the Witch is part of the Witches of Keating Hollow series and I believe it is better if you read the books in order (they build upon each other). Courage of the Witch is well-written (as are all of Deanna Chase’s stories) with steady pacing. Deanna Chase has an engaging writing style that draws the reader into the story. Hanna is a vibrant woman who loves to bake, spend time with her friends, and yearns for someone special in her life. She thought Rhys was that person until he told her that they should just be friends. Hanna began falling in love with Rhys when he took her to a dance in high school when her date stood her up. He made it a very special night. Rhys Silver is charming, kind and loyal. He is in love in with Hanna and does not want to see her hurt. Misunderstanding and miscommunication always lead to trouble. Hanna and Rhys have a difficult path ahead of them, but the result is worth it. As it says in the book “love is messy”. There is laughter, heartbreak, love, drama and tears in this steamy paranormal romance. I like the magical elements included in the story. I just wish there was more of them. I do want to let readers know that the story does contain foul language. Courage of the Witch is an emotional, heartwarming romantic story that is a must read for fans of Deanna Chase.

This is the first romance in the Witches of Keating Hollow series which doesn’t feature a child in some way, shape or form. And I really enjoyed that. As much as I’ve enjoyed the blended families and all of the love that goes with it – after a while I wanted a slightly different flavour of romance. Hanna and Rhys manage to fit the bill perfectly for this. It’s a bit of a second chance, definite friends-to-lovers romance with some very interesting complications thrown in.

It's fairly obvious from early in the story that Rhys’ reason for holding Hanna at bay is going to have some kind of medical component to it. I love that the complications and road blocks that are thrown up for this couple are entirely medical in nature. And it also brings up the question of how do you live when there is a potential death sentence hanging over your head? How do you ask someone to commit to that level of uncertainty? I know what I’d do, but I also know that it wouldn’t actually be an easy decision.

Courage of the Witch is definitely the most fitting title for this book. Courage is the perfect word to describe Hanna and how resilient she is. When people ask me the number one thing I want for my own children, my own answer is resilience. And the courage that Hanna is able to show in this story is exactly why. Granted, there is a happy ending which doesn’t always happen in real life. But the battle to find joy and happiness in uncertainty is a seriously difficult thing to do. Hanna also completely humbles Rhys in his inability to actually have this form of courage and resilience to begin with. Luckily they are able to grow together.

Not only is this a great story of courage and romance, it is also one about how we deal with grief. It never truly goes away, and I love how frequently and subtly that is acknowledged. The grief of losing a loved one, particularly someone to a medical condition that could possibly be genetic is difficult. And some days just living in spite of that pain can be hard, but both Hanna and Rhys manage to find a way, not without a few of their own scars, but it still filled me with a sense of calm and optimism.

Although the stories of all four Townsend girls have wrapped up, I never truly got the feeling that the series was final. There were always smaller side characters in the town that are waiting for their time to shine. This book is still difficult since it’s facing the demons from Hannah’s and Reece’s childhoods, but it isn’t quite so debilitating as Dreams of the Witch was. The characters are all well established and loved, and easy to keep reading about. The change in character for Hannah’s mother was a shock and disturbing but is somewhat explained as the story continues. This one is more of the ultimate high school sweetheart story. Hannah is sweet but fiery and daring, and Reece is pig-headed and stubborn when it comes to her safety so it makes you want to cheer Hannah on even more. The ending is perfect and sweet. As always, the final chapter is a bridge into the next book and makes you immediately want to read more. I’m so invested in this series by now that I couldn’t stop if I wanted.

What a good book. It was hard to put down. Old friends, romance, family and magic. A great combination. It is told from multiple character points of view. I really enjoyed reading this story and I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Hanna Pelsh was preparing her friend, Faith’s, latte at the Incantation Café and fortifying her with a cupcake and cookies. Faith was exhausted and had to beg off of their girls’ night rendezvous. Faith had been extremely busy lately with her new business, needed to immediately hire a trained therapist to cover the heavy workload, had a new man in her life who had a young child, and her house was being rebuilt. It unfortunately left very little spare time for their girls’ night, and Hanna missed her friend.

Hanna was adding ingredients to the mixer in the back room when there was a knock at the front door and she heard Rhys Silver announce himself. Why couldn’t she get over him? He had pulled away from her over a year ago with no explanation. He had been there for her when her sister, Charlotte, died of a rare autoimmune disease. She had cared very much for him and losing him had been painful.

Rhys really misses Hanna and the relationship they were developing, but Rhys didn’t feel it would be right to become more than friends with her after what he had learned a year ago. He was ready to apologize and get their friendship back on track. He went over to the Café and asked for coffee, a scone, and a dinner date. He had been asking every Friday recently, but Hanna kept refusing to go out with him. Hanna’s mother rushed out to her, all excited. Mary used the fact that Chad Garber has recently moved back to town to suggest to Chad’s stepmom, Barb Garber, that Hanna would be delighted to show Chad around town tonight, reacquaint him with the locals, and have dinner with him. Rhys told her Hanna was NOT available tonight since she was having dinner with him. But after an argument, dinner ended earlier than expected.

Hanna finally gets to meet the very handsome, charming Chad who helps her carry baked goods to the event at the book signing at Hollow Books. Along the way, the two flirt and he invites her out to dinner the next evening. After the bookstore, he invited her to lunch and they headed to the brew house. But when Rhys sees Hanna and Chad with each other, he feels the barbs of jealousy – and panic. He needs to make his decision about Hanna before he ends up losing her. Will he confess the secret that made him walk away from her, why they couldn’t be a couple? Will he risk Chad and Hanna getting serious and cutting him out of her life?

I can’t say enough good things about this incredible book! The love, caring, and friendship the characters have for each other just pulls everyone in, and believe me, it makes the reader care about the wonderful characters the author has brought to life. The story line is amazing, with communication once again being a key component to sorting things out! You won’t want to miss this Keating Hollow story! It touches the heart!

Hanna Pelsh has been in love with Reese Silver almost her entire life. Their attempts at taking their friendship further has ended in frustration for Hanna. When Reese broke up with her after several months of bliss, Hanna was crushed. Reese went on to basically ignore Hanna for almost a year. Hanna has become partner in her mother's cafe and bakery, and has been working with a healer in Eureka to help her come up with a cure for the rare and deadly auto-immune illness that took her sister, Charlotte, when she was just 18. Hanna is the perfect candidate to assist as she has a dormant version of the gene as well.

Reese Silver has been in love with Hanna almost his entire life. He knows he carries a deadly gene that could cause him to have a fatal heart attack with no warning, just like his father and his grandfather. He cannot put Hanna through what his mom when through, no matter how much he wants to be with her.

Enter Chad... Chad is model-gorgeous and has his eyes set on Hanna. Hanna is flattered by his attention and agrees to go on a date (which Reese encouraged as he really wants Hanna to be happy, even if it makes him miserable). However, seeing Hanna look so happy and relaxed with Chad causes him to reconsider. Reese decides he has to come clean with Hanna and explain why he has been pushing her away for so long.

Can their newfound, renewed love survive the deadly illnesses that can change both of their futures in an instant? Will love and courage of the witches defeat all?

This book started off a bit slow, but it really took off and became one of my favorites so far in the series.

I was given a complimentary code in exchange for an honest, unbiased, opinion.

"Courage of the Witch" brings to five the number of books in the "Witches of Keating Hollow" series I have read in three days, It's too much and I must admit that after a few chapters I was daydreaming about what could come between Hanna and Rhys - an evil twin, a kidnapping, a falling meteorite?
It was not until the final third of the book that it all began to come together - but when it did it was great.
Hannah Pelsh, sister of the dead Charlotte whose memory resonates throughout the series, has always been in love with Rhys Silver. They've been best friends forever and even dated for a while before he dumped her unceremoniously.
She's still carrying the torch, however, and Rhys seems finally willing to take another chance. The problem is that he has been hiding a secret, one which he believes precludes any long term relationship.
It's quite a linear story, one best read in series order, and highlights Deanna Chase's strengths and weaknesses - great on family, humour and emotion, not so hot on plotting, and given to forcing events to get to a pre-determined outcome.
I'm taking a temporary break from the series as I would like to read the remaining books with a fresh mind, maybe I'll return to Keating Hollow in six months.

Magical whirlwind

I've been waiting for this particular coupling. I'm a huge fan of this series, and I've been desperate to read Rhys and Hanna's story. Especially as fans of the series knew they were meant to be...very "MOONLIGHTING"esque if you ask me. There were all kinds of magical healing (both emotional and physical) and a hijink or two along the way. I love this close knit town of Witches...many are family by blood, however even more are family by choice!! There's also a mysterious new character who has a direct positive impact on the two main characters. I for one think she's VERY integral to a certain special family, they just don't know it yet. I could be wrong, but either way I'm REALLY looking forward to the next book. This book is fun, witty, heartwarming with lots of love. Not very graphic, but I wouldn't consider it "sweet romance" . It's not necessarily needed to read the previous books in said series to enjoy it, but it could help enhance your understanding of all the players. I was hooked instantly with book one and always look forward to a new release in the series. Three cheers to Keating Hollow and all its quirky residents 😊💗💗.

Hanna was successful. She ran the family coffee shop. She sought excitement, living the life she promised after the death of her sister from a debilitating disease. Absent is the commitment from the man she loves--has loved for years. He keeps putting her in the friend zone. And yes, they are friends, but they are more and she's tired of waiting for him.

Rys does love her and wants her. But he has something stopping him. It doesn't stop him from wanting her, protecting her. Their on again off again friendship is becoming a problem. When he sees her dating another man he has to reevaluate his hesitancy.

The whole town is like one big family with the fun cousins and grandparents as well as the over-protective parents. Her friends (some have had their own stories in the series) have found their own loves. Oh, yes, and the town is full of magic and witches with the best of abilities. It is a good story with humor, great characters, and impossible problems. But are they or can love, magic, and a little science change things?

Don't worry about not reading the other stories, although I certainly recommend them, this one stands alone as to all the other books.

Keating Hollow
Hanna Pelsh has always loved Rhys Silver then last year he gave them a romantic chance not just the friend zone. Its didn't last long for no reason at all he dumped her back in the friend zone breaking her heart. Now he wants to be friends again just friends until he finds out she about to move on to another guy . This hot and cold thing will not work any more for her. Her heart can't take any more.
Rhys has a dream job in his home town along with doing xtreme sports he has everything he wants. Everything but the women he loves because he can't get over a fear he has that he will end up like his dad and grandpa.
Oh my what an emotional roll a coaster ride! I loved it. I laughed and teared up. It was awesome that a story could pull me in and make me feel for the characters brilliant. Its has amazing characters, drama, love, romance, and so much more. I couldn't stop listening. I love the women reading her voice is so smooth she did a fantastic job. This story is not to be missed

Courage of the Witch is a great book! Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down, except when I had to for work, even then it was tough to do it. We've met Hanna and Rhys in the previous books, and in Courage of The Witch we really get to know both characters. They have been friends since they were kids, and have been in love with each other since they were teenagers. Except they were never honest with each other about it. In a lot of romance books, another person is what is trying to come between the main couple, but that's not really the case this time. Although Hanna's mom has an issue with the relationship, it's something else entirely that has kept Rhys from declaring his love to Hanna all of these years. When he's finally able to let go of his fears, will they get their happily ever after? You'll just have to read it and see! I highly recommend this book, it's a great addition to the Witches of Keating Hollow series.

Hanna Pershing
Rhys Silver

Hanna is a Partner with her Mom in a bakery in Keating Hollow. Rhys is a junior brewer at Townsend Brewery. Hanna and Rhys have been best friends since High School and dated for a few months the previous year until Rhys broke it off and started trying to spend as little time as possible with Hanna. Hanna and Rhys both are still grieving in a way for the loss of a Sister and Father when they were young. This story is about them getting back together to move forward with their lives, but having to confront each of their medical problems. I really liked Hanna’s strength to go on living despite a medical condition. Rhys begins to really live life again as he and Hanna get close again. This is a good book that deals with medical problems people face and how they deal with their problems individually. This is a very good fast read with a nice Happy ending. I would definitely read more in the series and books by this author.

Romance is not my first or second choice for reading; I like it, but it’s not a favorite. However, when it comes to writing, I trust this author to deliver a great book, and this book just goes to show why. This book was filled with tears, love, laughter, and more tears. I am not a crier, but this book (as did the ones before it) made me sob like a baby. I just loved the strength, love, and affection of Hannah and Rhys. My heart was just so happy (no, I’m not usually this sappy, trust me). If you love this series, this one will definitely satisfy. If you haven’t read the series, you can start with this one, but I’d start at the beginning just so you can get the full effect. Great, simple, wonderful romance book and series with a tiny bit of paranormal! I highly recommend this book and series; I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.

Audio book review
Book 5 in the series . Love how Deanna decided to do the couple that was skirting around each other 2 steps forward and one step back .
Heroine is Hanna. Hero is Rhy.
Deanna wrote a story full of love , warmth and action Both Hanna and Rhy has had strong feelings for each other for a very long time . They both feel the magic when they are together but Rhy is terrified if he acts out on what his feels are telling him to do. Complete the bond ! But he’s afraid what will happen to a Hannah if his condition gets worse. He doesn’t want her to go through the suffering. Will the daughters step in ? Will both Rhy and Hannah act out on their feelings.

Gabra Zackman Performance is great. Her voice is smoky, smooth and strong not only in this strong but for the series

This was an emotional book. I don’t usually like the back and forth relationships. I usually stay away from books like that because I get frustrated with the hero or heroine for being so wishy washy. This book did not make me frustrated. I actually really liked both characters Hanna and Rhys. Rhys was pushing Hanna away for a reason he thought was important and honestly I could see his point of view. He was a good man who loved a woman but was afraid to hurt her because of circumstances beyond his control.
Hanna was head over heals for Rhys and kept letting him back in her life over and over because she loved him and even though he hurt her she knew he was a good man.
When they finally get together they have so many trials to get through. But the did it together. Plus add on all the supporting characters from books before and it was another great book in the series.

Love the Witches of Keating Hollow books! They always leave you with that warm, fuzzy feeling.

The story of Hanna and Rhys was a sweet one. Rhys has always held back from having an actual relationship with Hanna, someone he has loved for a long time, due to a health issue that could cause him to die at a young age. He just doesn't want to burden Hanna with that eventual loss. Hanna, however, carries the same gene her sister Charlotte had, but the knowledge of that does not stop her from doing what she wants in her life. Or dating who she wants.

This story was an emotional but sweet read. I really enjoyed it.

Excellent story with bits of mystery and heavy on love. Meet Rhys and Hanna who have been friends for years and love is strong. Now we add some personal problems and lack of communication and you have issues and some mystery. They struggle with their problems but communication and a couple of surprises help clear things up. Now let’s add Luna and Chad as two new people to Keating Hallow and they are part of the solution and part of new mystery.
I really enjoyed the story and please have Kleenex handy as it is a bit of a tear jerker! I do highly recommend this book and the rest of the series!

Loved it. Although the constant back and forth was a bit frustrating at times. Also confusing was that she kept referring to Drew as Noel's fiancé even though the story kicked off at their wedding at the end of Dreams of the Witch.
This one also hit close to home for someone who's been dealing with a debilitating, diminishing, incurable and life-altering condition for well over a decade now, add to that the shared name, yeah...
as much as I enjoyed it I think my heart will need a break from the non-stop drama... doesn't mean I won't be back for more of Witches of Keating Hollow at some point :)

SPOILERS
I wanted to give this 4 stars but couldn't because of the situation with Hannah. Rhys gets a clean bill of health about 2/3rds of the way into the book so you know there's something coming. To have Hannah suddenly get her deceased sister's autoimmune disease and then get cured the very next day was just too over the top for me. I love these stories but that little twist was a no for me. It was too pat and too quick. I wouldn't say it ruined the book for me but it did make me roll my eyes and left a bad taste.

I loved the characters and especially Luna who is the main in the next book. I honestly hope there aren't anymore crazy situations like we had in this book.

Love is in the air

Now that all of the Townsend girls have found their true love, it was time for the bakers daughter to finally take a chance on Love. She and Rhy to take a chance on Love after playing cat and mouse with each other for years. This book goes through the trials and tribulations of what Rhy’s and Hanna must face before they finally take the next step toward their own happiness. To read their story please read this book.
I’m off to read the next book as this one has been written with a little cliffhanger and Luna and Chad are the target of the story….
Good Reading my friends and I’ll talk to you in the next review.

Heart warming!

Hannah has always known her path in life and who she's wanted in it. The only problem is the man she loves only wants to be her friend and she has no idea why refuses to have more. Rhys Silver has his dream job, his town and his best friend Hannah who he's loved for as long as he can remembered. But Rhys refuses to act on his feeling for Hannah because of a possible health condition that could kill him. A rollercoaster ride of emotions and humor that evolves with steadfast determination!

Gabra has done another fabulous narration with Deanna Chase's Witches of Keating Hollow series. Hanna is a strong woman who tries to live life to fullest knowing all to well how short it can be. Rhys also knows how short it can be and tries to protect Hanna from the future pain of losing a loved one. Your emotions will run high and low as you're immersed in their story of struggle, love and the courage to follow their hearts, no matter how long or short life may be. Definitely a story worth reading!

This series just keeps getting better!
The attraction between Rhys and Hanna is HOT!! Rhys may be my new boyfriend. I loved how these two kept trying to fight destiny but somehow they would find each other to only see Rhys fight it. Hanna is a tough chick. This book was such a thriller seeing how adventurous Rhys is and how he’s willing to show Hanna even though he can be all over protective. So cute!!
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Gabra. She does a fabulous job and I feel like I’m at Keating Hollows with the gang and am watching them as the scene plays out. Fabulous.

Wow - intense

If you or someone you love has an incurable disease, this may not be the book for you. I don't fall into that category and yet I was sobbing at times. I normally describe this series as light and fluffy. This book was not. That is not to say it wasn't brilliant but far more mature than the usual fair. I have yet to give any of these books 5 stars but this is worthy as any book that draws you in this much and pulls at your heart is worth the highest accolade
