Book #6 in the Tylers of Texas series by Janet Dailey, Texas Forever was bittersweet. And of course, like always with me, I haven’t read a single book in the series, and looks like I haven’t read any books by the author too even though most of her books are in genres that I devour.

But as the saying goes, better late than never! I didn’t feel like missing much in the story for reading out of order as the author gives an overview of the history that has formed the basis of the story. There’s love and bloodshed in the story which had interesting twists that kept me entertained. I did wish for the romance to be a bit more detailed in the making but no complaints, as the predominant part of the story is the mystery of the murder and the numerous attempts on Erin.

Have no idea what it is about Texas and the ranches that always attract me so, but romance set around the background of a ranch and its workings are definitely a big plus for me!

Revenge, murder, passion, this book has it all!
Janet Dailey continues the Tyler Saga In Forever Texas.
The Tyler’s have lost their best friend, an honorary member of the family, and the glue that kept the Ranch together.
Loans, taxes, and drought are draining the Rimrock, faster than water from a funnel.
Erin has grown into a young, beautiful, smart lady with a good head on her shoulders and Will knows she’s the future and needs to give her the rein’s to run The Rimrock.
But there is a price to pay, a killer is lurking in the shadows and Erin’s their target.
Then the unthinkable happens, it’s a tear jerker and total shock.
Best book in the series, you’ve got to get it. If you’ve not read the others, no problem, this one catches you up on everything.
Extraordinary book!

Janet Dailey's new Texas Forever is a good plot driven romance. It is helpful if you've read the previous books in the series (I've read some), as it will give you familiarity with the family names and backgrounds but if you haven't what you'll take away is that there are generations of family drama that the Tylers have endured.

Erin and Luke fall in love quickly and then have to overcome all manner of challenges along the way. You never doubt that they will prevail but it's fun to see what twists and turns will come and how they will get out of the challenges.

If you like Janet Dailey's books you'll enjoy this and I'm giving it 4 stars. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first Tyler novel. I loved it: cowboy, love, action, mystery. Erin Tyler is the rancher, Will Tyler's 19 yr old daughter who meets Luke Maddox, a traveling farrier who will work a season on the Rimrock ranch. The ranch has lost money the last 2 years; lost Will's wife to cancer; lost Jasper, the oldest ranch hand that was like a father/grandfather to the Tyler men and family; and then Will himself. The ranch faces foreclosure from a loan taken by Will if $200K is not paid by October 1st. Erin's boyfriend is trying to get her to marry him per his father's urging so that he can be in place to run the ranch when Will ever passes. Once he dies, Kyle presses Erin to marry him, yet she has fallen for Luke and tried to tell her father, but he said no she could not see Luke and then he gave Luke an ultimatum. Action plot heats up and then Erin and Luke find that they cannot live without each other. The ending is climactic and satisfies your love of solved mysteries, ironic twists and young love. I want to read the prior 5 books now and anxiously await #7.

This review contains a spoiler.

Erin acts like a teenager. Granted she's 19, but I expected her to act more mature. She throws tantrums like a moody teenager.
I figured out the murder of Erin's father before it even happened. I thought, "well thanks lady, now Will is the next to die". The only reason why I finished reading, Texas Forever, is because I've read all the other Tyler books and liked them. This one not so much.

Erin Tyler is in line to inherit the Rimrock Ranch. Under 21 and not ready for marriage no matter how hard her current boyfriend tries to convince her she needs a man by her side. Her dad hires a new farrier for the ranch and sparks start to fly. What will happen when his free spirit and her independent price clash.

I love this book and I love the series,but..... I hate when an author in a romance novel kills off the hero/ heroine from previous book in the series. Whether it's sickness or murder. That just rubs me wrong. That is my complaint with this book😭

A perfect love story with lots of suspense

This was a western themed love story with lots of suspense . It was well written and the characters were real and truly defined. Erin is young and loves her ranch. Horrible events unfold amidst a passionate love affair with her farrier, Luke. I really found this Kindle Goodreads gift very enjoyable and very imaginative.

Twists and a Turns and Love

This book was a great story with twists and turns. Two of the main characters were about 10 years apart but still fell in love. Thriller also in murders and mysteries all in a ranch setting. Read it. Big D

I've been a big fan of Dailey's for awhile but started this series about half way through. It spans generations of the Tyler family, written so that each can be read as a standalone. The author does a wonderful job filling gaps or refreshing the reader's memory of events. This one has a lot going on, about thirty years after the previous book, with a murder, prowler and young hormones. At first I did not really like Will, current owner of the ranch and father to Erin, he seemed too rough and not cordial enough. Eventually I warmed up to his big gruff personality thanks to Rose and her ways of calming things down. These books could easily be a movie because there's something for everybody. Clues are left in the story that could help a reader figure things out but there were enough twists and turns to keep me guessing. I received my copy through Netgalley and wrote my review voluntarily.

The Tyler's of Texas series.
Erin Tyler is 19 years old and the future heir of Rimrock Ranch. She recently lost her mother to cancer, and now a man who was like a grandfather to her, Jasper Platt has died in a tragic accident. He father Will Tyler is struggling with not only the losses of his wife and best friend, but the possible loss of the Ranch if he can't meet his upcoming payment.
Will brings in Luke Maddox as a farrier to get the horses ready in time for the roundup. This complicates things when Erin and Luke meet and sparks fly between them. Erin is completely taken with Luke even though she knows she needs to marry the right man for when she takes over. Kyle, her boyfriend, thinks he's that man as his dad Hunter Cardwell, drills it into him constantly.

Tragedy, hardship, friendship and family, love-all covered in this story. Even domestic abuse by a tyrant of a father. I'm sure I'll be reading the other stories in the series!

Now I remember why I loved Janet Dailey so much when I was in high school. I used to haunt the public library, scouring the shelves for her books, and was always on cloud nine when I discovered one that I hadn't read yet. Her writing is superb, and her love stories are top-notch.

It is not often that I can read a novel from cover to cover. But Janet Dailey succeeded in doing that for me again.

I don't remember reading this particular title; though it is a reissue (The author passed away in 2013, sadly.). I loved the main characters and how their feelings for each other developed. Romance at its best! There is also mystery and suspense.

For those looking for a good clean read, please be aware that there are some brief scenes,

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for this ARC. This is my honest review.

2.5 stars. I wasn't really thrilled with this story. I was surprised by the fighting between Beau and Will, again..! I didn't think it was necessary for Will to die; Erin is so young; to carry the weight of a $400k ranch, all on a 19 yr old's shoulders is a bit much. I think Will should have been there for guidance especially since Beau has totally written the ranch off - his hands are washed of it. Marie Fletcher & the Prescott ranch - again?!? So the HEA on the Tyler ranch is continuing the legacy under a new name..? meh...

This book kind of sucked, who wants to read about previous books romantic couples being older and half of them dead -fun not.

Also this is what the hero says to his love interest.

Drunk on her own daring, she let her roaming hand move downward to the hard ridge that rose beneath his jeans, As she pressed it, he groaned, then suddenly thrust her away from him.
“My God, Erin, are you trying to get yourself raped?”

Wow what a romantic line-seriously!

The dramatic conclusion to the exciting Tylers of Texas series! FIVE SHINING STARS!

Reading this final book in the Tylers of Texas series felt almost like coming home. I know the sprawling Rimrock Ranch and the entire Tyler family so well by now: Beau and Natalie, Sky and Lauren, Jasper and Rose, Will and Tori and their daughter, Erin. This book focuses on Erin, all grown up at nineteen and destined to inherit the ranch when Will dies.

Here's a bit of the plot but no big spoilers, because nothing should spoil the suspense of a Janet Dailey book! As heiress to the ranch, Erin is expected to marry a well-bred, educated man--someone qualified to help her run the ranch someday. But her heart will have its own way, and she falls in love with hunky Luke Maddox, a newly hired farrier who's quite a bit older and has lived a rough life. Does Will Tyler approve of this unlikely match for his daughter? Heck, no!

But Will's disapproval is only the start of Erin's problems. Due to a severe drought and other issues, the ranch is in serious financial trouble, facing imminent foreclosure. Deaths (natural and otherwise) further complicate matters as Marie Fletcher--a villainess in an earlier book--returns to the Rimrock, hired to kill Erin by any means necessary. Marie isn't the only nefarious character with murderous schemes, because another villain is determined to kill Erin's father.

The plot is full of dramatic twists and turns as encroaching danger threatens the ranch and the growing love between Erin and Luke. Will the villains win? Will Erin lose her father, her ranch, and the man she loves? Will she even survive? I'm not saying. Fair warning, though: just as in real life, not everyone gets a happily ever after ending. There's grief as well as joy in this stirring tale.

You'll find no vulgar language, just one semi-steamy sex scene, and no grammatical or punctuation errors. I highly recommend this book and the entire Tylers of Texas series!

Janet Dailey brings us back to the Tyler family. We find Will Tyler and his daughter Erin sitting on the porch mourning their friend Jasper Platt's recent death. Her uncle Beau and his family as well as Rose were coming in for the funeral. She meets Luke Maddox, a farrier, when he finally arrives at the ranch after her father goes in the house. Erin had a path laid out for her to marry the right man and take over the ranch. Luke disturbs that plan when she finds herself attracted to him.

When Erin finds herself questioning Jasper's death, she brings Luke into her plan to investigate matters. She also has to figure out her boyfriend Kyle is the right man when he proposes to her after a year of dating. Add the financial and family troubles that come along, Erin has a lot on her plate. Will Erin be able to keep it together enough to get through life's tragedies or will it all come toppling down? Will Erin and Luke find their way to each other and stay together or all the odds against them? They will each have to figure out what is important and fight for it to pass Bull Tyler's words down through the generations: Land and Family Forever.

Janet Dailey allows us to visit the Tyler family once again. We meet new additions as well as familiar faces from previous stories. It is always nice to catch up with everyone and see how life has been treating them. I enjoyed seeing the love grow and the steadfast faith displayed by our characters. I look forward to visiting with the Tyler family soon.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All opinions and thoughts are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for this privilege.

It is the first book I read by this author, it entertained me a lot. I was expecting a love story but it was more than that because there were several mysteries. The story takes place of course in the beautiful state of Texas. Luke Maddox is hopelessly in love with Erin Tyler, the daughter of his boss. However, Erin's father has other plans for her future, a better man with other characteristics.
On the other hand, Erin is the heir to Rimrock Ranch, the property that has long been in her family. What is expected of Erin is that she marries the best man and continue the legacy of her family when the time is right. But, she is completely surprised by the attraction she feels towards Luke. An entertaining story with certain twists that I really enjoyed. Erin is a nice girl but also responsible, she's always open to talk to her father. I really liked the interaction she has with Luke because he was always very honest and nice to her. I am pleased to have read this book and I will surely be reading the rest of the books in this series.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

The book was quite lengthy and lots of side characters and their drama, several plot lines involving the Luke and Erin and then characters who were tied to more than a few people, so it takes a while to get into the story. I prefer books with a little less description but there was also more depth of character for each person.

There is a bit do mystery when you find out what happened to Jasper and even another death, I was kind of shocked as I did not see it coming. So, lots of drama, intrigue, mystery, and romance.

I loved at the end that the multiple "bad guys" kind of got some comeuppance, - I like to see when the evil person gets what they deserve!

The only negative, beyond the story being so long and drawn out, is a bit an "ick" factor for me when you have a nineteen year old woman and a thirty year old man as the couple. I know that girls mature faster than guys but did there have to be such a big age gap for them?

Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book via Cocktails and Books and Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

This is the sixth book in the Tyler’s of Texas series. The setting takes place on a Texas ranch and has an engaging storyline with realistic characters. Erin and Luke are brought together when Luke is hired to work on Erin’s family ranch. There is suspense, romance and many twist and turns to this story.

Luke is not the type of man Erin ever thought she would fall for but yet she can’t seem to stop her heart from caring about Luke. Luke is not the settling down type but when it comes to Erin, everything changes for Luke. Luke immediately jumps in to help Erin and keep her safe. He is protective and caring and loses his heart along the way. Janet Daily knows how to write characters that are easy to connect with and and a story that keeps me wanting to read more.

Janet Dailey's books are classified as romance, but the genre does not fit well. Her books always tell a story that includes a romance but are so much more. This is the next chapter in the saga of the Texas Tylers, but you would not know it wasn't a stand alone until you saw the list of books by Janet.
It's an excellent example of life on a ranch, many people all working hard to keep a huge operation running smoothly. This includes a new hire, a farrier, who has a back story that guarantees trouble when he first sees the boss's daughter. As the story unwinds, there is plenty of drama and adventure thrown in, and of course, a little romance.
If you've never read a Janet Dailey book, this one is an excellent place to start. Just be prepared to add her catalogue of titles to your must read list.

I won Texas Forever in a Goodreads giveaway, and was excited to read it. Being from Texas myself, I was hoping to get lost in the ranch drama and forbidden love, but after the first few chapters I was disgusted, and couldn’t read further. The mature nature of the book wasn’t really my cup of tea, but I trudged on, despite not being impressed with the first chapter, and hoping it would start to pick up. It didn’t.

Then there’s the age difference between Luke and Erin, a point that really got under my skin, and just the overall feel of this narrative made my skin crawl, so I skipped to the last chapter, and read the most predictable ending, and was thankful that I did not finish this novel.

I rarely give up on a book, but I couldn’t in good conscience finish Texas Forever, and was incredibly disappointed.

Fans of suspense romance- is he a good guy or not- might enjoy this one. Erin is 19 and facing a huge deal with Rimrock, her family's ranch. There's debt and drought and other problems. Her father Will hires Luke, a mysterious man with a past as a farrier and very quickly, sparks fly between them. Then, horribly, Erin's father Will is murdered and Luke is a suspect. Is he a bad guy? Wait, who is shadowing Erin? This is a nicely written quick read that I read as a standalone- and that was fine. I think I would have liked this more if Erin was a little older- in her twenties- vice still being a teen. I'm also curious who is writing this series as Dailey has been deceased for a number of years. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. Good to while away an afternoon.

Erin is all grown up and falls in love pretty fast in this book, but the story is believable. I have loved this series from the beginning, and this one might be my favorite of the series. It has a little bit of everything: love, passion, revenge, murder, and one shock that you won't believe. Definitely a tear jerker.
A best friend lost, the glue that everyone relies on to keep them together and things will never be the same. The rimrock is hemorraging due to a draught, taxes and loans. When Will realizes that he needs to let Erin take over the Rimrock, it comes at a price. Erin has a target on her back. What happens in the culmination is breath taking.
Excellent book. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

This is a great Western Romance in typical Janet Dailey style. Erin Tyler is the boss’s daughter on a big Western ranch. She is only interested in filling her father’s boots on the ranch Luke Maddox is hired on as a farrier. There is pretty immediate attraction on both sides but the boss is not on board with the idea. Meanwhile there’s someone out there shooting at people.

This one keeps you guessing about the characters in the story and their involvement in what is taking place. This is one of those stories you don’t want to put down until you figure it all out.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
