It’s time for Daisy to get her driver’s license, but she may not really be a natural behind the wheel. Can she overcome her nerves to become the ultimate motorist, and (for everyone’s safety) should she be allowed to?
First I can not believe we are even here. Giant Days #47, not I know there are series that are much longer than this but I have not read them, this is probably the longest series I have ever read. I am still really sad to know this is ending but as I continue to read each issue I am still so in love with this world and it's characters. As always since I am so far into this series I will try super hard not to spoil anything but I will still have my spoiler warning below. The issue before this I loved so much that I was just could not wait to read another issue. After reading this issue, I still really enjoyed it and I loved the plot but I do think the Susan detective story is one of my top five favorite issues!
SPOILERS AHEAD
Daisy has decided to get her license! She is going to like a drivers ed type school where she takes driving classes with instructors to help her prepare for her test. But Daisy is not a great driver and all the instructors hate teaching her. While Daisy is struggling with her drivers license Ester learns about a secret being kept in the house by one of her roommates and McGraw's brother comes to town to stay with him and Susan before his wedding.
While I definitely loved this one it will not make my top five favorite issues of Giant Days (I may publish that list someday when the series is all done, we shall see). But I definitely enjoyed this plot and seeing McGraw's brother. I also enjoyed seeing more of Ester is her home with her roommates and her sharing a secret with one of them! Additionally, Daisy learning to drive was a fun new adventure that I think could lead to some other adventures in the future! I am giving this one five stars on Goodreads!
Not the most knee-slappingly hilarious issue of Giant Days I've read in my time, but enjoyable nonetheless. McGraw's comedically, over the top-ly terrible brother was the highlight for me, and I can't way to see what antics the crew gets into at a wedding.
While I love Max Sarin's art, I can't wait until John Allison starts drawing the series again, as his art will bring a familiar comedic flavor back, jokes landing differently (not necessarily betterly!) than they do with Mr. Sarin's art.
Still, Giant Days is the best young adult/adult pure comedy series right now, and as I will say always and forever, should be much more popular than it is.
Another great issue from Giant Days. I feel like Suzie got the least amount of attention this time around, but both Esther and Daisy got a lot of love. They had completely different plots going on, but honestly, both were pretty hilarious. Daisy is learning to drive, and while this may shock you, I have to tell you that she’s just horrid at it. The running jokes about her learning experience were a highlight in this issue. Esther’s plot was different than I would have expected at first. As per usual she can’t keep her nose out of anybody’s business, which ultimately means she got herself totally wrapped up in somebody else’s’ problems. Sounds about right, huh? Oh! McGraw got some attention too! Suzie was almost always present for his scenes, so I guess I shouldn’t say she didn’t get any love after all. McGraw’s side of the issue was utterly unexpected, even though we probably should have seen it coming. Even with a dude that mellow, there’s bound to be a person that can set him off. It’d be impossible for it to be any other way.
I LOVED this issue! This is really no surprise, because I love every issue for the simple fact that it brings me joy and entertainment and all of the characters are so great. This one was especially surprising though, because I thought the main protagonist for the issue was going to be solely Daisy, who of course I enjoy, but it jumped around a lot to also focus on Esther, Dean, a puppy (!!), and set up the next issue, which is going to take place at McGraw's brother's wedding.
I am SUPER STOKED for that one, because Susan and McGraw are my favorites, and I was so glad to see them and Esther also getting a good amount of page time in addition to Daisy.
Ugh, just such a lovely issue. I really enjoy the whimsy of this series and all the lovable characters.
This was so much fun! Perkin is super cute! It was nice to see Dean and Esther being "friends" for a little while. And do all of the McGraw family have a beard? Mmmm nice.
This was cute. I like how Allison keeps so many characters intertwining through their own arcs. How there's some drama but mostly comedy. And especially how all of the characters' carry themselves through situations that I have been through, with just a touch of cartoony nonsense to soften the blow of how personal some of those events may have been. It's like a safe way to distance ourselves from stress while entertaining it.
Giant Days is always good. This may not be my favourite out of all of them, but it sets out to do what it does best. I'm pleased to have read it.
Ah Daisy, my girl, I feel you! This one had me laughing as this one focuses on Daisy and Esther and let me tell you after the Susan-centric last issue was nice to have.
Daisy and her attempts at learning to drive, Esther and her meddling ways, and McGraw finally loosing his cool! All fun to read!
A fun issue that lacked relationship drama but was full of little challenges for our cast to handle. I can definitely relate to Daisy's mentality in regard to driving...
These girls are hilarious and it is nice to just read something about ordinary characters living their lives without having to analyze everything they do.
