The characters drawn you in from the beginning. Sloan/ Jenna has to take care of herself and she really tries to fit in. Daryl is in the military and has some issues himself physically and mentally. These two bring out the best in each other. We see each of them grow and take things slow. She learns to trust and share her secrets. A wonderful read of two people who overlook and only see love in each other.
Wow I absolutely loved this book and storyline and characters .once I started this book I was sucked in until the end of it. I really like that Daryl was different from all the military men and teammates and women always treated him differently but when his new neighbor sloan is a different woman and has secrets and very frightened and he finds himself wanting to help her and protect her but will it be to late when her past catch up to her ? This book was truly different from all the other books because ppl do look at ppl differently if they have this type of persona so to say. Squirrel is his nickname because of his looks and when sloan sees him she sees him as perfect for her. Love this book.
Sloan is on the run from her cult family. A group has helped her get to Texas. Daryl is working with Ghost's team. He is hoping to become an operative. Sloan is living next door to Daryl. He is slowly trying to get her to trust him. She struggles because of everything she has been taught. When she is found by her father, will he be able to find her? Will she ever be safe?
An intense drama about a young woman who escaped from her family and their religious cult. She managed to relocate across country and finally find a job and starts to settle in a small town community. She slowly starts to make friends even with the threat of her family finding her. A military man next door tries to help and protect her.
This was beautifully written. Very little sexual content which proved once again that a book doesn't need sex on every page to be good. Loved the characters and the storyline was a bit different. Plenty of action and a lot of heartwarming romance. I totally loved this story. I wish I could give more than five stars, it deserves it.
From living a sheltered controlled life to being completely on her own while looking over her shoulder. Sloan doesn’t know who to trust, but Daryl is super sweet. The question is can she trust him? This is a sweet love story and your heart breaks for what Sloan has gone through and what she experiences. An entertaining read!
Wasn’t sure whether this would be a good read or not but I was pleasantly surprised. The characters are terrific -Sloan is such a lost soul and her naivety made me smile but in the end she knew what she wanted - Daryl - who wasn’t this drop-dead gorgeous guy but he was a good man and what all men should try to be.
What a great, emotional story. Squirrel was pretty amazing. Sloan she did go through a lot and was so glad that get got a happy ending, unfortunately we didn't a bet for look at that hea. I have to say, as good as it was, it was so sad.
Although this book revolves around a very serious issue, it was a good read. I cried, laughed, got all the feels, and was rooting for the home team! Daryl and Sloan get their happy ever after.
3.5 stars A sweet quick read about a young woman fleeing and hiding from her past and the man that wants to have her in his future. High on sweet with a bit of suspense thrown in. It was great seeing Coach.
Another in this series that I enjoyed. I liked the innocence of Sloan and the story line of escaping from her cult family. Nice twist to the typical romance to have a woman so innocent.
Daryl/Squirrel and Jenna/Sloan. Neighbors with a twist. Sloan is on the run and receive slots of help for a new identity. Squirrel knows none of that, but does want to know more about his new neighbor. The story is detailed and quick, creating community and a background that has me rooting for Sloan. The diner crowd and owner were delightful and the information of how she got always was intriguing. I do wish we got more information about that secret network, why the FBI was a bit jerky towards her and the situation, and more info about the cult as JB has another book where the female escaped a cult situation. Ghost and team were a hoot and knew how to help Squirrel out when danger struck home.
I loved this book had me on pins and needles waiting for Sloan to get found. I was waiting for her to seek help before it was too late. Good thing Squirrel was so vested in making her happy and his.
