Dragons of the Bayou #2

Fire Breathing Cezar

Rate this book
Small town librarian Cherry Deschamps is perfectly content with her safe, mundane existence even if others might consider evenings spent with a mug of hot cocoa, bowl of Ramen noodles and a Netflix marathon boring.

When the panty-meltingly gorgeous “Mr. Hollywood” enters her life, showering her with gifts and attention, of course she’s skeptical. She’s learned from an early age that exposing her heart will only lead to pain and heartache.

Cezar fights every baser instinct he has to win over his human mate—including behaving in the ways of a human male. In the end, however, it may take the fiery passion and fierce possessiveness of his dragon to convince Cherry that she’s worthy of being loved.

This is the second book of Candace Ayers' latest series, Dragons of the Bayou, a dragon shifter romance series set in the swamplands of the deep south.

This is a hot and spicy, super steamy paranormal dragon shifter fantasy romance from Candace Ayers and Lovestruck Romance with an HEA and no cliffhangers. Fans of Zoe Chant, Terry Bolryder, Harmony Raines and Ruby Dixon may like this dragon shapeshifter series.

An insecure librarian finds her match in a dragon shifter...

I enjoyed the main characters in this one as they both seemed self-aware enough to realize when they've made a mistake. Cherry is a librarian who is content in her lowkey, quiet life surrounded by books. But when a man walks into her library that looks like a cover model of one of her romance novels and shows interest in her, she doesn't believe his good intentions or her good luck. As Cherry remains steadfast in her resolution to deter Cezar's attempts at flattery, Cezar sets out to prove to Cherry that they are meant to be. Steamy, quirky and fun read!

This one not so good

I really wished I could throttle Cherry yes that's her name alright..anyways poor Cezar is on the look for his mate out of all the dragons he is probably the most adapted to the human ways so he knows just a little bit about how they say you should try and date a female but when he meets Cherry he finds out that all the things he read are not working! But in my opinion it's just that Cherry doesn't have a lick of common sense in her head poor Cezar goes above and beyond to show Cherry he's interested in dating her but she won't give the poor guy a chance..Well she gives him at least the chance to take her virginity since that was on her bucket to do list but once she's got that taken care of she starts with the same old crap of how could someone so hot actually be interested in me?! Ugh and please don't get me started on when she tells the man she needs space and God forbid he actually gives her what she asks for then she wants to say well if I was truly his mate he would have ignored what I said to him and he would be here...that right there made me wish I could reach in a book and slap that heffer knock some sense into her! I hate when authors make their leading ladies this dern ignorant it really pisses me off and makes me absolutely hate the book. The next one is about her twin sister so I seriously doubt it will be any better cause I really don't see her being any different.

My Opinion

I hate this story. Loved Cesar hated Cherry. Because this is another of those low self-esteem having females that believe they aren't good enough for the guy so they mess the relationship up before the guy can. So he has to work harder them normal to prove that they love them. Authors give me a break with this dribble. Most heavy women are self assured. We don't wallow in self doubt or pity because we are fabulous! So please write a bbw book that reflects that truth. Now that's sexy.

If there is one thing I can’t stand in an h it’s being a total idiot and cruel with it. Cherry treats Cesar dreadfully. She insults him, uses him, and then plays stupid head games with him, and we‘re supposed to sympathize with her pure bitchness because she’s got no self worth. DNF at 70% because I was wishing the H would go and find a better mate.

ok this is shifter smut I listened to the audiobook which was a little over 4 hours fun quick female MC is a bit annoying with the angst but she is a Librarian so books when she meets a man at the Library she doesn't believe him when he says he wants to date (and Mate) her no one who looks like him would want her right??? Cezar is an old Dragon he and his brother Dragons are all searching for their mates in this new Earth world they have landed on....Cherry and her Sister China are orphan girls Cherry of course is also still a virgin.... quick fun read if you like Shifter romance give it a go if you don't skip it....I also found the first one Cezar being the 2nd in the series DRAGONS of the Bayou another new author for me as well

Great Book. We have Cherry who is a librarian and feels like no one will ever love her. Cezar is still trying to find his mate. When they ran into each other at the library, sparks flew. Can Cherry believe someone can love her? Can Cezar figure out how to mate with Cherry? Why can't he get anything right? Will they make it or will she run? I received a free copy for my honest review.

This series is a easy read our Dragon deserved a much better mate our female lead was a really unlikable person. She was neurotic, self absorbed, flake. I hope the next one is better because there quite well written.

I will never understand how this has 4 stars... First part of the book was interesting, but at some point, the heroine just became stupid, whiny and absolutely ridicculous. If there was to be some underlying trauma involved, the writer did a poor job.

Unnecessary drama and angst. Cherry is the worst. Definitely the TSTL type.

Heather's Notes
OMG, Cherry got on my ever loving nerves. Get over yourself, the guy likes you. I could not believe her and her self doubt. I actually felt sorry for Cezar. He does what she tells him (against his nature), and then she yells at him for it. I so wanted to smack her. Otherwise, it was a good book and I liked Cezar and how hard he tried. I am glad at the end Cherry realized she was being an idiot and got her act together. I plan to continue this series.

ONE FANTASTIC READ!!!
Whoa baby! Talk about walking on thin ice. A whirlwind of emotions and events that really pulls those heartstrings. All the drama, uncertainty, throw in a little humor and suspense makes for a wild ride. Action packed, fast paced, hard hitting, page turning delight that's as riveting as it is captivating. Twists and turns, unexpected circumstances and unpredictable surprises around every corner make for one thrilling experience. The two main characters had an undeniable bond. White hot, off the charts, explosive chemistry that will leave you breathless. The characters are complex and believable with such depth and individuality. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it really draws you in. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive it's easy to picture each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. Candace did an incredible job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job Candace, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

I decided to buy the complete set of the dragons of the bayou. I had read the first one in 2018, and to be honest I forgot all about the series. So I bought the whole series but I will review them one by one. of course let’s start with the dragon. Literally a dragon shifter from another planet, or from another realm they don’t really go into that too much. All we find out is that a few dragons survived the dragon slayers of their time. They survived by escaping to our world. Now they are on task to find their mates, never did Cezar think he’d find his mate in a small town librarian. Taking advice from two teenage boys he decided to go to the library to figure out how to use a computer to go on dating apps. Did not take any time to figure out his mate was right there with him in the library. The special thing about these dragon mates is that they each feel the pull so strong. Mostly having to do with their libido, which they’ve really never experienced before since all of them are virgins. This book was so good. It is amazing to see the couples come together.

I have been looking forward to this book since Beast came out. Cezar is the most civilized of all of the dragons. He puts forth an effort to understand humans way more than the others. After watching Beast flounder with Sky and spending more time with Sky's nephews he is determined not to make the same mistakes finding his mate. You will laugh your tail off at how much influence the "younglings" (as Cezar puts it) have over Cezar and his attempt at finding a girl. Once he finds her, his courtship is so funny. Cherry is another story. I understood some of her insecurities, but I was a bit disappointed at how hard on herself she was and that "I'm not good enough" attitude made me angry. I loved Sky and the boys taking it upon themselves to talk to her to help. This was just what I was hoping for. Cezar is my favorite dragon. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.

Hilarious & fun! Great story!

This the second book in Candace’s new series Dragons of the Bayou. Cherry is the librarian in the small town near the bayou where the Dragon shifters have made their home. She is fun loving and finally has gotten her dream job, head librarian! She thinks that she is just meant to be alone until Cezar walks into the library. He is trying desperately to find his mate so Sky’s younglings, from the first book, suggest he sign up for Tender! It’s a hilarious encounter between him, the computer, and Cherry. Cezar is an alpha male with a heart! All he wants to do is take care of his mate. He just has to learn how to do it in the 21st century! There are some intense and salacious scenes between these two! Loved this book! The world building and characters cohesively came together and made sense.

There’s something extra cozy about a romance centered around a librarian—and Fire Breathing Cezar nails that quiet charm while layering in just the right amount of dragon heat. Cherry is the kind of heroine many readers will instantly connect with: a homebody who can’t quite believe she’s worthy of the kind of love she secretly dreams about. Watching her wrestle with self-doubt felt honest and familiar.

Cezar’s patience and effort—his struggle to play by human rules even when his instincts scream otherwise—added real heart to the story. And while the attraction is instant, the emotional payoff takes time. That’s what makes it satisfying.

This book is exactly what a romance should be: a journey toward not just finding love, but learning to accept it. Cherry’s growth gives the story its depth, and Cezar’s unwavering devotion gives it its warmth.

Candace Ayers the queen of shifter authors has once again given us an engaging fun tale that will hold you captive until the final page. Cezar a stunningly gorgeous dragon shifter is actively looking for his mate. He happens into a library where he sees Cherry the head librarian. Cherry is a beautiful human, shy with low self-esteem. Immediately Cezar knows that Cherry is his mate. Cherry feels an incredible pull but doesn't understand the undeniable attraction she has for Cezar. How will Cezar win over Cherry? Will Cherry accept the fact that Cezar is a dragon shifter? “Cezar” is a spell-binding, smooth flowing story that will capture your heart.

Cezar was trying his hardest to find his mate before his time ran out and even considered online dating when he stumbled across her in the library. Cherry had a rough upbringing which left her very insecure about relationships and her own self worth. It took a lot of persistence and a lot of pep talks from people around her to realize finally that Cezar wasn't playing a prank and in fact did actually love her. I laughed at how hilariously awkward it was for Cherry to telegraph her intimate thoughts to all the dragons, when she only meant for Cezar to hear them.

'I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.'

Cezar’s been researching human behavior for finding a mate. When he unexpectedly finds her in the library, he knows he needs to behave as the books say a human male should. Unfortunately, his mate, Cherry, doesn’t have a lot of self-confidence when it comes to relationships, and she doubts his intentions are serious. This leads to some humorous behavior and interactions between the two as they work through the ups and downs of dragon courtship. What starts out as seeming doomed before it even starts becomes so much more for a couple who prove that they are made for each other. This is a charming addition to an enjoyable series!

I loved the characters of Cezar and Cherry.

Cherry was the quiet town librarian who was happy in her quiet life. I loved this about her. Yes, should would have loved to have someone in her life but she loved her job as she just got a promotion and that was fun to see. Cherry was also a very relateable character being she had self doubt but yet she had moments of strength and I found that very refreshing.

I loved Cezar. He was a dragon shifter that was trying SO hard to be a human. He was reading all these self help books to woo the girl and doing everything right but yet oh so wrong.

I can't wait to read more in this series!

Audiobook on YT. Narrator did a good job.
Between 1 and 2 stars. Because of the idea of the story. Could have been good BUT:
she is acting ridiculous. It is annoying listening to a repeat of her wining about her not being attractive enough from him, over and over again, like a parrot. I have to skip and skip... this could have been so much fun if the female character would not act like a toddler. She insults him, uses him, and then plays stupid head games with him, and we‘re supposed to sympathize with her pure bitchness because she’s got no self worth. For a nerd she acts low IQ. I feel for him, falling for something like her.
I can not stand people like her, I really can not.

Okay, let me tell you I was utterly fascinated by Cezar when I “met” him in the first book of this series, Beast.
This story was amazing and I had to go back and read it a second time because I wanted to revisit this couple once more. I think that Cherry was the best mate that there was possible for Cezar. She always felt frumpy, and like she didn’t deserve happiness and joy with someone as HOT as Cezar and he was ready and willing to show her that she was.
This was a thrilling read from cover to cover, and I can’t wait for more!

Loved this one

I love to read about shifters in the bayou and this story made me smile I really loved the first book in the series and book 2 was just as funny and good. Cherry and Cezar are the latest couple to hook up. Cherry drove me crazy with her insecurities and I could only applaud Cezar for his patience. The sex was steamy hot and the laughs just kept coming. I hope Chyna gets her story next.

Fire Breathing Cezar

Book is funny. A bunch of dragons and no clue how to find their mates on earth. Cezar is determined to find his mate before it's to late. He has read the books and studied up on the rituals. Should be a piece of cake. Cherry the local librarian doesn't attract men. So when the hottest guy she has ever seen starts asking her out. She can't help but wonder what he is up to.

Tickled my fancy!
I loved the humor of this self-proclaimed ‘nerdy’ librarian! Cherry’s disbelief that anyone so handsome as Cezar could be interested in her, is sad, but charming. The situations in which she finds herself are hilarious! Cezar uses his woefully lacking ‘book-learning’ to capture her attention. His sad expressions when she’s not pleased make me want to console him. Delightful reading! I will read more of this author.

Cezar and Cherry

We have meet Cezar in the previous book of this series. Just like Beast, Cezar had to leave the old world where dragons used to reign to be able to survive the surprise of dragon slayers. Cherry us a librarian very insecure about herself, taking her some time to believe someone so special like Cezar could be interested in her. I really loved Cezar. He is a great H that gives us red hot moments that will leave you wanting for more. Highly recommended

The main character annoyed the crap out of me. She had such resentment towards her sister when her sister didn't do anything to her. It was such a turn off. And like the first book, she was completely fine with the guy being a dragon. I did like this H more than the first book, but the h was way too obnoxious.

I understand wanting a quick romance, but there isn't any depth to this book. It's mostly him chasing her, her hating her sister, and some sex.
