17 year celibacy.. I thought we were done with that misogynistic type of character -- but him... He had a wife + kid, slept around. The misogyny is strong here.
I won't be reading this author ever again -
To those reviewers that didn't like the political side - this is the reality. Wake up. It's not woke it's not liberal, it's destroying lives. I noticed a lot of reviewers said to keep politics out of this, but it really isn't politics it's a story of forced deportation. And while it was made political especially in recent presidencies, this isn't a commentary on that president. It is a commentary on losing family members because of deportation. And for that I do not understand all the other reviews. My one star is not for the politics in here
My problem -- she go 17 years without being touched by a man, having sex with a man, or even owning a vibrator. Seriously, the author could not let her have one ounce of pleasure in life
Defined is book number two in the Fade Into You series and unfortunately was such a let down for me. I LOVED the first book. The ambience, the writing + the mc’s of course… none of that transferred into this sequel.
It’s been seventeen long years since Cadence and Fitz broke up at the end of their summer together. Fitz went through with his arranged marriage and Cadence had their baby alone. Through mer coincidence the two cross paths again, and it doesn’t take long for their connection to spark again.. neither one of them has forgotten about the other.
No. No. No. I’m actually so upset about this book, I was going to rate it with three stars, but the more I went over it in my head, I just couldn’t do it. I had HIGH hopes, book one left me with a broken heart and I was anxious to see how Fitz and Cadence’s story would continue just to be so let down.
The time jump is WAY too long. 17 years is a ridiculous amount of time. There is so much we have missed and it’s insane to thing that these two who are obsessed with each other wouldn’t have looked for each other before this. Fitz went to look for her once? That’s it??
Cadence had articles about Fitz’s marriage, baby, career but then didn’t know his wife had died?!
They are supposed to have this amazing love connection, but I couldn’t feel it AT ALL anymore. It was just off, I loved Fitz in the first book and now found his character so underdeveloped. While I found Cadence’s naivety charming before, I now find her annoying. She hasn’t had sex with anyone else?! I get it Fitz was her first love, but girl, he left and got married to someone else and it’s not like he stayed away from the other sex. He had a freaking kid with someone else. It’s so stupid…
This book REALLY pushed the liberal political agenda, which is interesting since that wasn’t at all part of the first part. It really took me by surprise to read so much about politics and immigration law. I’m literally an immigrant and I just don’t want to read about this in my romance book. I didn’t want to read about politics I wanted a better story for Fitz and Cadence.
I left this book just feeling sad.. I wish it ended with it all being a dream and they were back at the lake at camp and wouldn’t have wasted all these years.

I looooved Cadence and Fitz’s story in the first book but bruh leave politics out of my romance books. I read to ESCAPE the bullshit…not relive it. This book would have been 4 stars had the political agenda not been half of the plot. That’s all.
I listened to the audiobook version of this book. After listening to Cadence Untouched and simulaneously aware that this is a two book series with the same characters kind of makes this an easier to predict second chance romance. The author gives us many indications of how things are going to play out early on, but I feel as though Cadence Defined was just as well written as Cadence Untouched. After listening to Cadence Untouched I was already fully emotionally invested in Cadence and Fitz's relationship and seeing the outcome of their story all the way through to the end of Cadence Defined. There is some wasted time that makes me sad for them as a couple but seeing how they reunite and their ending was super satisfying for me. Interestingly, there are a couple of surprises in this book especially towards the end with Fitz's father. I was also surprised with the real life political aspect of the story, I have mixed feelings on the author's inclusion of current politics. I think I personally would have preferred it not to be included, but I think it was necessary for the story to make sense given how it was written. However, I loved the characters and seeing them come together significantly outweighed any negative feelings toward the inclusion of politics. I really enjoyed this two book series and am excited to see this author's work as her writing progresses over time. The two book format is not one I've seen often and I loved the originality of it. This was an excellent second chance romance!
These narrators gave an impecable performance in this book just as they did in Cadence Untouched. I enjoyed their performance so much and can't say enough wonderful things about it. I think these two are extremely well matched and made these characters super easy to love. Excellent!

Audio review: Cadence Defined (Cadence Duet Book 2) takes place 17 years later, with a transition from a ya to new adult genre under the romance trope. Told in dual pov with a guaranteed happily ever after. A nonpareil style of writing which leaves a impact on your heart. A lot of books just skim through the past with second chances, but this one takes you through right from the start of the romance, to the break up, and to the makeup years later. I think it gives a better portrait of the character's and their thoughts & perspectives. Character's are complex, compelling and resilient. This book flows through smoothly from book one to book two with no bumps in the road & fits in just right. A second chance sensual romance duet brewed with social justice, a explosive secret, unexpected twists, & jaw dropping bombshells. Author Dakota Willink writes a note in the beginning of the audiobook. This note was a savvy idea and I loved it. A beautiful & creatively crafted suspensefiul novel & series. This novel wraps up this duet perfectly with no unanswered questions.
Lacey Laurel & Zachary Webber's narration of character's Fitz Quinn and Cadence Riley portrayed the right amount of angst, chemistry and sentiment. A perfect performance duet.
Looking forward to listening to what's next from this author. I hope this she writes more books in this genre.
This is a very unique story. You must have read Cadence Untouched before this one. It talks about Fitz's and Cadence's back story. And cadence defined is 17 years later. I think it's been awhile since Ive read something like this before so it was a refresher. I loved some of the hidden and unexpected surprises we got in this story. The narrators were great.
Talk about pulling at your heartstrings! I absolutely loved this story about a second chance romance of two then young adults. This story takes place 17 years later with Cadence and Fitz both living their own lives. Cadence and Fitz end up running into each other while they are out running and the sparks are still there. However, things have changed, and now there are 2 children involved. Cadence is hiding a secret from Fitz that could change everything. Cadence gave her heart to Fitz 17 years ago and because of his father, she lost a piece of her heart when Fitz left her. With his father still playing a part in controlling Fitz’s life, she is not sure that she wants to subject Callie to this.
Drama, passion, chemistry, romance, love, truths, secrets and a few twists and turns will keep your interest in this story and will make you believe in love and second chances. Great story with great characters, a great plot and growth of the characters we fell in love with in book 1. I look forward to reading the next book! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was an okay read. Personally it was a little too political for my liking. I read to get away from all that stuff. I did enjoy the beginning of their story but now as adults I'm not a huge fan. They both clearly never got over each other but never did anything about it. I also didn't like the fact that Cadence knew her daughter was being taken to prom by her brother but didn't say anything. That situation in real life could've ended badly. The good news is that in the end they finally did get that happy ending.
Stay away if you’re like me and are tired of hearing a Democrat politicians are good and Republicans are evil
I should’ve known better. Wanted to get this author the benefit of the doubt, But in true liberal form all Democrats Politicians are good, And all Republicans are evil. Just once I would like to see an author that writes about politics and just call it out as it is both parties are evil .

We're now 17 years after the end of Cadence Untouched, the first book in this duet. We first meet Cadence in her role as the owner of a non-profit that helps DACA individuals. She is surprised when her daughter's date for the prom—whom her daughter states is just a friend—reminds her of Fitz. When she finds out his last name, she figures out that the young man must be his son. While doing her regular run at a different place in the city, she actually runs into Fitz. She had already determined to tell her daughter, Kallie, about her father; she had previously spun a tale that she didn't know who her father was. Now, what will she tell Fitz?
I feel that the pacing wasn’t quite right with this book. I fully expected Cadence to tell Fitz about Kallie early in the book, maybe at the end of the first act or at least by the midpoint, so that the both of the book would follow the aftermath of the revelation and them all, perhaps, working toward becoming a family. Instead, the bulk of the book seemed to be about the evolving relationship between Cadence and Fitz, without her having divulged that they had a child. This might have been okay (though I think it still should have happened by the midpoint) if Cadence had wrestled more often with whether (and when) she should tell him. She did now and then (and not often for long) and more towards the end when it looks like the secret may get out anyway, but there definitely should have been more persistent inner conflict for Cadence. I thought Fitz sometimes still thought, spoke, and acted a trifle immature for his age (39).
The author clearly has some very strong political views about DACA and immigration, and she made Cadence very passionate about these topics. This is fine, but at times the dialogue felt more like political proselytizing than real conversation, which I think is unfortunate.
The end, to me, felt like it came out of nowhere. We know that Fitz’s father is a nasty piece of work, but I wasn't expecting his cruelty and the dramatic way in which he exited the story. Unfortunately, the book had more than the common issues with grammar, punctuation, and spelling. At times plurals and possessives were confused, like panty’s vs. panties or references to family members as a group (e.g., the Millers, not the Miller’s). Some sections in italics weren’t properly italicized, with some formatting shifts coming within sentences and even words. There were some issues on occasion with capitalization.
If the first book got you emotionally invested in Cadence and Fitz, you would most likely want to read about their second chance at love. If you haven't, this book could be read as a stand-alone, but the flaws in it and the pacing issues may be enough to distract you from reaching the end.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
4.5 stars!!! I rushed to read this book after the ending of book one, and it didn't disappoint. Here's my thoughts
What I liked...
* Kallie and Austin...the introduction of the two kiddos and the fact they were already firm friends.
* The spice was a bit spicier in this book, Book one would have got 1 out of 5, Book two gets 3 out of 5!
* The development of Fitz and Cadence as adults and parents was so interesting.
* A HEA yay!!!
* Fitz dad finally getting his well deserved karma.
What I didn't like as much...
* Rushed ending...I also found this with The Stone books, the endings are sooo rushed, as there's no extended epilogue. The book does a huge 17 year time jump at the beginning, then the epilogue is only a couple of months down the line. I don't like these rushed endings!
* The fact the Cadence literally hadn't been sexual with anyone for over 17 years (since Fitz), while Fitz screwed anyone he could...NOPE, NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Why do female authors do this? Make the FMC a pure little woman and the MMC a man-whore???
* Bethany...So Fitz is forced to marry someone he doesn't love. This poor woman is also forced to marry someone she docent love and who doesn't love her. Fitz makes it obvious he does love Bethany and she starts drinking and taking drugs (the poor woman was probably depressed, also postnatal depression?) And the book is written with a total lack of any empathy or kindness towards this woman, absolutely dreadful.
* Having to get 75% of the way through the book before Fitz found out about Kallie...way too long, so yet again we have a rushed conclusion and practically zero insight into Fitz relationship with his new found daughter...grrr
* I wanted to know how Kallie and Austin felt about their new relationship status.
All in all this was almost a 5 stars duet. I just wish the author didn't rush her endings, we take so long getting there and then it is rushed and leaves the reader unsatisfied. I believe there is a book three about Kallie, I will defo read this!!!
I really enjoyed this story from start to finish. In this second book of the set Ms. Willink did not give away anything, and left it up to the reader to follow a very well crafted plot from beginning to end (and thank you for not writing a prologue as in the first book).
The characters, whom we met in Book 1 Cadence Untouched, are back in this one, with some additions. But this will not be a review with spoilers. Cadence was a teenager when Book One closed, and she's now in her mid thirties, running a non profit organization named after her dog and her favorite flower. It was easy to like Cadence the adult. Personally, I didn't agree with some of her choices, but that doesn't matter, because the reader is reading, not living Cadence's life. Fitz was the same Fitz as he was at 22 at the end of Book One. He was still operating under the thumb of his father, but this time he's stepped up a bit, with Devon still at his side as his wing-man, and he's raising a son.
The characters of Cadence and Fitz were well developed and their personalities flowed well through one book to another. I had wished that Devon had a bit more development, because he played a pivotal role in at least two spots in the book, but we still didn't know enough about him to form any opinions.
This was a well written second-chance love story. There are some twists and turns in this book that you would not expect, if you are judging it on the first book, but after I'd finished it, I realized what Ms. Willink had intended on doing and why she wrote Book One. Book Two, without Book One would have book just ok, because the reader would not have had the benefit of the emotions and intimacy of the first book. I'm glad she did it the way she did it, even though, as I said in my review of the first book, I had my own issues as to how it was written. Overall a good second-chance love story from the pen of Dakota Willink.
Cadence Defined Cadence Duet, Book 2 By: Dakota Willink Narrated by: Zachary Webber, Lacy Laurel
Dakota Willink put a lot of heart in to the Cadence Duet, you feel it throughout. Both books captivated my attention from start to end. Fitz and Cadence story begins in “Cadence Untouched”, it is a story of first love. Life and circumstances take them on different paths and they do not see each other for 17 years and in “Cadence Defined” Cadence and Fitz meet again. The chemistry between them continues to sizzle. They were each other’s first love, a love that never died and no one else could match. But will love prevail because nothing is easy, there is baggage, difference of options and most of all secrets. I loved that Cadence grew in to a strong and independent woman. She stayed true to herself followed her dreams in her career while juggling everything life thew at her. I also love that Fitz is finally standing up for himself against his manipulative father. This story is another emotional one, it is so much more than a second chance love, it about letting go, learning to trust and forgive, learning to live again. The road to Candace and Fitz’s happiness may have been paved with heartache and tears but in the end love prevailed. Dakota Willink thank you for this beautiful duet. I love your creative mind and ability to write and share these wonderful stories.
I listened to the Audible edition, Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel are awesome narrators and voice performers. They bring the characters to life and give them heart and personality. They add a nice dramatic touch which enhances an already great story another level. They are talented storytellers and are always a pleasure to listen to.
Seventeen years ago, Fitz Quinn stole the heart of Cadence Riley. He took her innocence, then left her broken. When a twist of fate brings them back together again, she quickly learns even time couldn’t dim their chemistry. Fitz was sexier than ever—successful and provocative. He became the man she always knew he would be, and the heat between them quickly became unbearable. Despite the promise she made to herself, she felt the walls to her heart start to crumble and began to fall all over again.
However, things aren’t the same as they once were. Cadence is the driving force behind a non-profit organization where she handles each case with the determination of a shark. Fitz is known as Washington’s fixer. He is the CEO for a public relations firm—one that represents the politicians who fight against everything Cadence stands for. What do they say about opposites attract?
Finding themselves at a crossroads, Fitz needs to decide if going against his father is worth pursuing a second chance with Cadence. One wrong move and his reputation could be obliterated. For Cadence, she needs to let go of her secrets and forgive Fitz for leaving her alone all those years ago. But more importantly, she needs to decide if sacrificing her values is worth being with the only man she has ever loved.
This duet was excellent! I love Cadence and Fitz! These two go through a lot! I enjoyed all the characters. This book has a little bit of everything in it...and I enjoyed it all! This duet is the first books that I have read by Dakota Willink but she is on my radar now and I look forward to reading more from her! Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel were definitely the best choices to bring this wonderful story to life!
Sigh… what a beautiful duet! The conclusion to the Cadence Duet is stunning. I loved the first audiobook. This second one is just as strong. It’s a story of love that it’s spread out over years, nearly decades. So the first book we get to meet Fitz and Cadence as new age adults, fresh out of high school and preparing for college. I seriously swoon hard over young and new love. You know what happens, life happens, they are pulled apart with life pulling them toward their dreams, their lives.
Cadence was always a strong, young lady but I adore the woman she’s grown into. She’s still a woman that knows what she wants and getting it. Fitz, oh Fitz, he’s been wrapped up in his daddy’s tentacles for decades. Now we get Fitz the man, Fitz standing on his own two legs! Eeek… I was thrilled! We might have some amazing and incredibly strong characters but that doesn’t mean Cadence Defined is a walk in the park. Oh no, we still have so much pain. This is a story of growth and love over years. It’s a great listen!
The narrators, Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel, are amazing together! I always get sucked into the male charisma that is Webber’s voice. He’s like silk. Laurel is pure sexuality. I just love her voice. It always brings the emotional state to the stories she’s narrating!
I received a complimentary copy of this audio book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
The conclusion to Untouched is a massive trainwreck. The love story of Cadence and Fitz takes a back seat to politics and a hit job on Republicans. It's off putting and cringeworthy, infusing the bias into the entire story. Cadence works for a non-profit that helps illegal immigrants with their DACA claims, but it doesn't ring true in how it gives a dumbed down version of a very intricate problem. This is the underlying current in Defined, along with the angst and belligerence from Fitz's dad. The way that Fitz and Cadence meet once more is such a perfect coincidence and the fact that neither one fights their attraction gives way to a sweetness with just a little angst. Both are single (his wife died) and Fitz has a son who just happens to go to the same high school as his and Cadence's daughter, Callie. Cadence hasn't come clean and told Fitz about their baby and she keeps putting it off until she can find just the right time. For the strong feminist she seems to be, she's rather fearful about facing the truth. Fitz has every right and reason to be angry, but Cadence did something while she was pregnant with Callie that shows Fitz her struggle and her heart. There's a nice HEA with a lot of karma along the way, and I am glad that they all live together as one big happy family. But it's agenda-driven and with the propaganda and uncalled for verbal attacks on politicians (of only one party), what should have been an uplifting, love-filled story became sadly depressing. Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel do a wonderful job with the narration. They both do male and female voices particularly well. My only concern is that I would have liked to have heard the Spanish names pronounced correctly.
Having listened to the first book I was eager to see where Cadence and Fitz's story took us and whilst part of their story pulled at my heartstrings my overriding feeling about the story as a whole was one of disappointment.
I'll explain why, I'm English and although I know a little about the political scene in the US I don't know enough to want to read a book that could have been an enjoyable, emotional second chance love story between Cadence and Fitz but their story takes second place to politics. It was very off-putting and seemed to tell a one-sided version of what I can only assume are the author's personal beliefs. It gave a bias to the story which for me was over the top. If you are from the US and fully understand the politics there you may feel differently.
When the author concentrates on their second-chance romance some 17 years later when Cadence and Fitz meet again and discover that the sparks are still there it is well done. I enjoyed seeing them discover how each of their lives has changed, there are now two children to be considered, as well as the secret Cadence is hiding from Fitz which could change everything was also well done.
I liked the drama, chemistry and passion as their romance bloomed again, I also liked the way the characters had grown from the young people they were in the first book when Fitz broke her heart because of his father. She was devastated when Fitz left her and as his father is still a controlling influence in Fitz’s life, I could understand her doubts about not wanting to subject Callie to this.
dislike the first book just some of the parts of it were predictable and too innocent for me.
This book really gives us a look at what both characters have been doing or gone through since they last saw each other. I am so happy Cadence didn’t seem like she did from book one, she was more self-assured and knew who she was in this book. Her relationship with her daughter really made me connect with her. They have that easy back and forth I enjoy reading about. There were still times I wanted to shake her and be like come on your a bad…s you got this and women up. But I get it she needed time.
Fitz oh, Fitz grew up to be a devilishly handsome fella who has the world at his fingertips but is missing something. I loved how when he sees Cadence again for the first time, for him it was no bullsh… and that he did what he did. I do think sometimes characters like Fitz always have a father who is just a pompous a.....s and for whatever reasons they can’t ever stand up to them. It makes a lot of sense as the book went on why Fitz’s choices were taken away.
The interaction between all the characters was fun and believable even in the hard situation it was interesting to listen to.
Oh, Zachary Webber’s voice as Fitz yes please allll day long! He really has a talented voice and the way he brings the story to life I just adore. Lacy Laurel I like, I am still getting to know her style but for the most part, I am enjoying and will most definitely listen again.
I HATE books when the mom keeps a kid from a dad. I get it when the dude is abusive or it's a one-night stand and they don't know his last name/how to contact him. When they keep a kid from them just because of their past? Horrible. Cadence was 100x worse. Cadence and Fitz's kid is 16!! Again, Cadence judged Fitz for having an arranged marriage- I'd say her keeping Kallie from her dad for 16 years should be judged more than Fitz. Also, Cadence REUNITED with Fitz, had conversations, had sex, talked about the long term and still, DIDNT TELL HIM HE HAD A DAUGHTER! Cadence let her daughter and his son go to prom together and didn't say anything. Like ugh it was so frustrating.
Once Fitz found out, here is a quote from Cadence trying to explain her reasoning: “I wasn’t perfect. I was practically a child myself, being forced to make impossible decisions. No answer was the right answer, so I made the choice for both of us to protect Kallie. I had the sense to realize a baby wouldn’t have made a damn bit of difference. You would have stayed married and nothing about the situation would be any different.”--- Nothing about the situation would be any different? Um, what about your daughter having a father? Also, she complains about Fitz walking away, Cadence knew Fitz was engaged before she had sex with him, like that's all on Cadence.
Then Fitz just forgives Cadence? Ugh. DNF like 75%

Cadence Defined is the conclusion to Cadence Untouched. I loved Cadence & Fitz's story. Unique in many ways, but a solid and well used theme in others. I didn't like that it was 17 years before they meet again, especially since Bethany (the reason they couldn't be together before) has been gone for 11 of those years. I feel like it was a waste of time they could have had, especially time Fitz could have has with his daughter, and also time that Austin could have had a mother figure in his life. Overall it was a great story with a lot of important issues touched on without going overboard.
The audio performance was very well done, I hadn't heard narrations from Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel until this duet but their narration was impressive.
Cadence & Fitz meet at summer camp and fall in love, but Fitz must return home at the end of the summer and marry the daughter of one of his father's friends. Cadence knows that they only have that summer, and when she finds out she's pregnant after Fitz's wedding she chooses to hide their baby Kallie from him. 17 years later, Fitz's wife has passed away, and Cadence meets his 15 year old son Austin when he picks Kallie up for the prom, and now that summer is coming back at her in every way it can and its time to tell Fitz he has a daughter.
I love the characters of Cadence and Fitz, and this is their story 17 years after Cadence Untouched. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would, because of how much I loved Cadence and Fitz. You really need to read these two books in order to understand the whole story and the dynamics. Cadence is a great mom and runs a non-profit. Fitz is a great dad and is a partner in a PR firm with his best friend Devon. This book covers what they have been up to and how they meet by chance again 17 years later. It had plenty of twists, and the heat between Cadence and Fitz is as strong now as it was in Cadence Untouched. I can't say too much more because I really don't want to give away anything. But suffice it to say, these two never stopped thinking about or caring for the other one, even when they were not together. First loves and a second chance at your first love - these are two amazing things. I loved these characters so much, I've love another one to see how they are doing now. Looking forward to reading more from this author, who was new to me before these two books.
What a story! Dakota Willink picks up 17 years after Cadence Untouched and gets us right into the hearts of Fitz and Cadence. Each has gone on with their lives, but never got over the love they shared. Now seeing each other again, will they be able to recapture that feeling? And will the secrets kept destroy their future? I truly enjoyed the journey of Cadence. She is a strong female, full of compassion and love. Her choice of career shows her true colors and lets them shine. I love how Willink has captured Fitz. He is stepping up to his overbearing father and finding that his voice needs to be heard. Together, these two have incredible insight to people, and their chemistry together is off the charts. It's a great story of forgiveness, love and hope. This duet is wonderful.
Lacy Laurel and Zachary Webber bring these two to life. It's a book full of emotions, and both give it their all. It makes you feel the hurt, anger and love, just by the inflections and voicing Lacy and Zach portray. I was pulled in and these two kept me interested and fully invested to see what would happen to Cadence and Fitz.
This duet is a pleasant surprise for me. I hadn't known this author's work prior to listening.
Cadence Define picks up 17 years later. YOU need to read or listen to book one first.
I loved seeing how Fitz and Cadence have grown into their own in the past 17 years. When they last were together at camp their ending was not as we had hoped. Life, responsibility, and family stopped these two from continuing their love affair.
Fast forward and Cadence has become a strong-willed woman who is running a non-profit and Fitz is about to embark on a political career (being forced upon him by his father). These two have a run in and the sparks immediately fly and wow...it's so beautiful see these two together now, but there are still many obstacles they need to overcome. From their pasts to the present political culture that could derail their relationship before it even begins.
Many secrets come to light and they both need to figure out how to make their lives intertwine once again!
I enjoyed the narration, as Zachary Weber is one of my favorite narrators and Lacy Laurel gave Cadence a voice with the passion that she so deserved.
After reading book 1- I was left feeling sad, angry and betrayed on Cadence's behalf. Going into book 2, I had an open mind and was willing to forgive Fitz. It didn't take long for him to worm his way back into my good graces. The characters went through an amazing change between book 1 and 2 however with 17 years separating the books, you would expect that. The characters have grown, matured and lived- Defining who they were as adults.
I have a hard time with 2nd chance romances as I always feel a sense of loss when I look at how much time was wasted apart. I was absolutely sucked into this story and lived the ups and downs right along with them. I was very proud of the man Fitz became and feel bad for all the mean thoughts I may have mentally yelled at him after book 1.
The narration was spot on. Lacy and Zachary gave amazing performances and truly brought the characters to life.
This was a fabulous story from start to finish and all the stops in between.
I cannot imagine a better way of this wonderful duet to end. I was so eager to get my hands... or ears... on this book, ever since finishing Cadence Untouched, I needed to know what was going to happen. Once I started it, it was hard to put it down, once again it trapped me from me the begging leaving no room for other things but to listen and listen until the very end. Everything happens for a reason and I think that's exactly the case with Cadence and Fitz, and as hard as their journey to achieve their happiness was, I think it was all worth it. The stars aligned and suddenly everything started falling into place for Cadance and Fitz. The whole book was great, but the ending, the lake, the origami paper, and Fitz words, that was EVERYTHING!
Finally but not least important, the magnificent narrattion by both Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel. They both did so incredibly well, the pace, cadence, and the way they both can portrayed the emotions of the characters, made this book really amazing and so enjoyable.
I was excited to dive into book two of the duet to see where the story of Cadence and Fitz was going to lead after the secrecy around Fitz, and Cadence's surprise at the end of book one. I was really intrigued to find that book two starts so far in the future as I don't think I have read a lot of duets where that has happened before and given the way book one ended, I was really surprised to find that was the case... but definitely intrigued. These books were my first introduction to this author and overall I did really enjoy her her writing style and I did really enjoy Fitz and Cadence as characters.
I tend to shy away from politics in general and read as an escape, so I could have done without that aspect of the story, but otherwise I enjoyed the overall story line and was happy to see that Cadence and Fitz were able to overcome time and distance and his father's manipulations to find their way back to each other and have a HEA. They sure had some great chemistry and I so enjoy a second chance love story.
This continues the story of Cadence and Fitz years later and is the final book in this duet. Cadence is now doing the job she loves and that is helping people get justice and helping them to go forward in there lives and Cadence has also written children's books to help keep her non profit going. Fitz wife died in a car accident years ago but he never forgot Cadence who he still loved all through his marriage. When Fitz and Cadence meet again while they are both out running there chemistry and connection between them is just as strong as ever even after so many years have past but will they get a second chance or are there too many secrets. Omg this duet is amazing and a real page turner and so emotional and I couldn't put it down as I had to know what was going to happen next and it was so addictive. Dakota Willink is becoming one of my favourite authors and I definitely recommend you read this book and duet and you will not be disappointed. I Voluntarily Reviewed an ARC Copy of this book.
