Every unit of the FBI has those cases that just make an agent think, make them feel, and make them wonder why people treat others the way they do. PAVAD—the Prevention & Analysis of Violent Acts Division of the FBI—was no different. This was one of those cases.
She had made a promise to a child…
Someone had killed Wade Heathers. Wade—a pillar of the community—had been a devoted father and a loving husband.
But as Paige and the rest of Team Three delve deeper, they realize the snow hides more than just the blood of an innocent man.
Family secrets, jealousy, greed, and madness run rampant. Until a little boy doesn't know who he can trust any longer.
All he has to give him hope is one woman's promise.
A promise Paige will do anything to keep.
Case File #0004 is the fourth in a series of mystery novellas featuring characters from the PAVAD: FBI Romantic Suspense series. These novellas feature complete suspense stories and can be read in any order. White Out is a 150 page novella.
Calle Jaye is fun, playful, ironic, professional and sophisticated. She’s super-educated in the field of fiction and would spend most of her time walking around in “Book World” (or”eBook World”).
Does she have slight control freak tendencies? Yep. Why else would she chose to self-publish?
In her day job she gets to read romance novels. In her night job she gets to write them!
Her favorite color is bold purple. She likes rock like Kid Rock, Shinedown, and Nickelback. Add in a bit of Anastacia and Adelle, too.
She collects rocks. Watches crime dramas. Abhors Lifetime Movies and Titanic (especially Leo…) and refuses to read or write about sparkly teen vampires.
She’s married to a cop she strongly suspects is a vampire. They’ve made vampire babies, too.
They live in Indiana with their vampire relatives and their vampire dogs.
Sebastian’s team gets assigned to a small town when a murder takes place. All evidence doesn’t add up and connections need to be made to put away a killer.
I really enjoyed this story as I do anything that’s PAVAD related, but I’m still not sure I know why the person who was murdered was murdered🤷♀️ Anywho it was nice to catch up on team three members and I look forward to more in this series❣️
I had no idea there was another book out but when I found out I had to read it. I love this series and it's spin off series. This case has Team 3 working together shortly after Paige returns from being abducted by a psycho along with Jules. Mick Brockman is sent in to gather information for an operation that may change that persons life forever. That part of the story wasn't quite finished. We are left to guess who is being looked at for the assignment. We get to see how Team 3 interacts and Cody is brought in as well. The case is near to Paige's heart when she meets a smart young boy who had lost his father to murder. The case has twists and turns and it told completely. The story begins with Paige and Mick already married and catches us up a bit on their lives and then Paige is reminded of this case and it unfolds in her memories.
Being a fan of the series I loved this. I hope there are more to come. I would like to know a bit more about Cody and why she can't have her own children.
A straight arrow accountant is shot dead in his rural home devastating his wife and son and perplexing local law enforcement. Was it a hit, a random crime or mistaken identity. Enter a small incestuous specialized FBI unit. They come in as a favor to an unknown requestor. They all look like supermodel, body builders and movie stars. They are all brilliant even though they don't get results, are over emotional, related to everyone else in the squad by marriage or blood, have psychological issues and don't follow procedure. The case gets solved but they still haven't figured out if the victim was the target.
To say the squad is unbelievable and idiotic is high praise indeed. The other characters are cardboard. Any potential the story had is lost in the over wrought angst of the main players. Dopey on all levels.
The story/case written in White Out was a bit predictable but still entertaining. If you read a lot of Who Done Its you too will figure out the guilty party before the FBI agents do in the story. The author used characters from previous PAVAD books. If you haven’t read PAVAD stories the sub-stories will not make sense. I have only read a few so the names were somewhat familiar but I always felt like I missed something. So do yourself a favor and read the other PAVAD books before heading into a white out
FBI and the PAVAD had the steps to follow to do their job for any of these cases. Protecting children from voilence or if their left to be a orphan they need different treatment. TJ had lost his Dad in a murder, no information to find out who did it. Of course TJ was sad and didnt know what to do. The PAVAD helped him deal with it. It sure didnt turn out the way I thought it would. A case of meth makers and drug dealers came in to play in the investigation later on. But TJs dad was a good man he wouldnt be involved in drugs.
Like most of the Brockman related stories, there is a complicated set of relationships. Much time is spent on the relationships, to an extent that it interferes with the case she is trying to give to the reader.
There is action and suspense in the story. People get hurt and killed, but that is the context behind the story. Unfortunately we never did find out who sent in the PAVAD unit. Normally this would not be their case.
TJ and Ashley made the story. The author really hooked you with those two and what the presence they brought to all the characters in the story.
A small town, a couple who work at home, and their ten year old son takes on line classes. With a class at night for him to go to, with one or the other parent taking him there for the two hours. During that shirt span of time the husband was murdered, or was she the target . Dysfunctional families, drugs, what caused the killing was never really said. Paige heart went out to the young boy. Another look at this team and them working.
I found that there were too many people at odds in this story - the 3 from PAVAD, the deceased his wife and child, the two totally different grandmothers and the confusion of sons and friends who were in agreement or hated each other, the difference in the other detectives/cops - which really left me unimpressed in the confusion. It just did not read easily for me! Yet I did enjoy reading the story!!!
Unintentionally, I don't always read these books in order and all the relations get mixed up, but I would have thought the PAVAD: FBI Case Files, #3 should have been read before PAVAD: FBI Case Files, #4, but I was wrong. Also, I can't remember who is who and what family they belong to then they use the "pet" names and I can't remember their full names and don't know if they are male or female. There should be a family tree included in each book so you can refer to it throughout.
Several of her books are free on Kindle. I've read them all. I'll be buying the next one! Her characters are real with flaws and insecurities. They epitomize the best of the FBI... at least how the Special Agents are supposed to be. I like that the main ones are women.
The PAVAD series is an interesting view of a specialized FBI team. It may not be the real thing, but it is close enough without exposing any secrets. It is always fascinating to see how a highly skilled team mesh together with the discipline that helps them solve their difficult cases.
This was a quick read but enjoyable! Al and Paige both FBI agents are called in to work a murder in a small town. They have several suspects and Al’s brother is called in to monitor the girls as there might be a special project for them. However the the author never revels anything more about this . Still it was a good book.
An exciting mystery in a smaller town where meth and dysfunctional lives make finding the murderer of a good husband and father very difficult. There are no signs of a motive, and no leads keeps the FBI team guessing. They have many suspicions, but nothing solid until a bomb begins to draw the real murderer out..... but who is the bomber?
Story. I love this whole series that I have been able to get, but having this set of individual cases gives you a little insight into team members and how they handle a case.
Another fantastic book in the PAVAD series. This was about Paige who also had some very difficult past experiences like most of the agents in that unit. It was a very touching and exciting book although fairly short. She balances the action with the romantic so well. Fantastic.
Absolutely to many characters interest once developed was.interrupted by character development changed abruptly.. Not for me Better luck in the future Gave up at 50% left to read
This story has everything you could wish for in an action packed intense addictive and dramatic book. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it to you.
Enjoyable read once relationships were sorted out. Took too long to determine who was whose brother, wife, etc. recommend for those who like crime stories.
I was on the fence reading this as a prequel to Paige and Mick's story as suggested, but it does give their background. Love reading the background stories to see the in-between cases that mold the characters.
