We have one week left of this wonderful study. It is right up there with Nancy Guthrie's, "Seeing Jesus in Genesis" as one of our ladies Bible study all time faves.

We ended up dividing some of the longer lessons (we did the first 19 or so questions for week A then finished the lesson and listened to the podcast for week B.)

I believe listening to her corresponding podcast for the study was what took it from a 3 or 4 star study to a 5 star. The podcast does not just regurgitate the lesson. It expands on it.

We all felt challenged to walk out our faith more and were able to consider how that applies for each of us.

One last bonus--it's free which is just a sweet gift. I just ended up making copies at the church and suggesting the ladies give a few dollars in the offering plate to cover the cost of printing and I stuck the study in folders we had on hand. Most of the gals punched holes and kept them in the folders. I did not do this but left my pages loose. Page numbers saved me from losing my mind. ;-)

I also took careful notes when I listened to the podcast so I could have additional discussion options from the podcast because it was full of good stuff!

This was given to me by a girl I met on Bumble. What a terrific way to start a review. It’s a good bible study. It’s aimed at women and women’s bible studies, but I still felt as though it went above and beyond the usual bible study curriculums that are produced. I liked Wilkin’s approach by saying that it isn’t about us but about what the text itself is saying. I think she also had good questions and insights about the book of James. Definitely a good place to start on doing a bible study in James if you are thinking of doing one personally, though it is probably much better appreciated in a group setting.

EXCELLENT study - would recommend for any Bible study group, especially ladies groups, that want sound Biblical study (and lots of practice at it). Well worth the time invested. The accompanying audio files can be downloaded for free online, so this is a great Jen Wilkins study to start with.

Jen Wilkin walks women through the book of James in such a refreshing way over the course of 11 weeks. It is refreshing because she designs the homework content to encourage thoughtful examination of the text as you read through all five chapters of James each week. She helps you learn how to read on purpose with purpose so that you can comprehend it well. She covers the answers from the workbook in the podcast teaching sessions so if you truly get stuck she can give you clarity.

The systematic style she uses in this Bible study curriculum is the same format for all of the Bible study curricula that she has authored. I learned so much from this study and really enjoyed this style of line by line examination of the text. I recommend any study that she writes because you will learn intellectually as well as grow spiritually if you do the work.

For far too long women in the church have been taking in Scripture too passively and not reading and studying the text deeply for themselves. She gives you the tools and the teaching to learn how to read Scripture, in this case the book of James, how to comprehend it, interpret it, and apply it.

This is not a study that you can fly through. The questions in the workbook require effort and thought. The book of James is packed full of wisdom and instruction on how to have genuine faith and what that looks like. This study does a great job of helping you see better what truths are found within pages of the book and to help you see how to walk differently than you did before you read James.

Jen Wilkin never disappoints! You will learn deep truths and understand your scripture like never before no matter which study you choose. And though you read and reread the verses over and over as she suggests, this is why you remember the studies so well when you come to the end. You are able to recall her teaching. Long study, yes! Does it drag out? No! Unlike other studies I was sad it was over. She is truly a God led teacher! This study of James on living a life of Genuine Faith will step all over your toes. Decide before you start that you will allow the Holy Spirit to deal with you to the next journey with Him and not get stuck where you are because you are not willing to let “it” go!

Worked through this study on my own and it was excellent. It has a podcast that pairs with it and workbook itself can be downloaded for free online.
