Wow. Slow Burn Romance with super hot scenes. I am addicted to this series. Jack keeps trying to make us not like him. Too bad..... it’s not working. I love him anyway!
I’m so worn out from rooting for Jack and Jessie to be together. Once again, the authors have kept me on the very edge of my seat with book two of the series. I’m so enthralled with the way the stories suck you in and leave you wondering if they will make it to ‘happily ever after’. Thanks for making this a series! It allows me to catch my breath between books!
I have become obsessed with this series! I love that this is a series and didn't just give us a love story with an unrealistic happy ending in one book; instead we get to see these two characters struggle with their own personal insecurities along with dealing with what life has thrown them! I have no doubt that the third book will NOT DISAPPOINT and keep us guessing until the very end!!! Like I said about Lit.........Great Characters, Great Sex & Great Story!! Can't wait for the 3rd book!!!!!
Love this story what a cliff hanger. Jack needs his head banging against a brick wall for god sake I could slap him, love all the characters apart from Scot he is dodgy there's something off there.
OMG the ending to this book have to read the next one now just to find out what happens what a cliffhanger good job next one is out lol other wise i wouldn't be happy great book
Omg!!!!! What a freaking ending!!!!!! I know that if jack had just been open with Jessie things would have been different but Scott?!?!?! Ughhhhhh why!!!!???? He’s such a wimp.
So I've been sick over the holidays and on my Kindle way too much. I decided to revisit some of my one star books to see if they were as bad as my bitchy reviews made them sound. (I really hope author's don't read these things - you can't please everyone and some of us just need a place to vent) And with this crew yes they are. I'd give this crap a negative rating if I could too - its as bad as the first book which was cringe worthy even for a soap opera loving nut like me.
The book begins with our s0-called hero wondering if he fathered a kid years ago - but of course he can't remember because he has screwed so many women he can't remember them all. Then he checks out the doormat Jessie's mom and thinks how hot she is - what a charmer! Who wouldn't want to be with this pig for life! And this is by page two! Can someone explain to me like I am five, why I would want any woman, let alone the supposed MFC of a romance book to be with this piece of shit? He refers to the girl's he screws as whores and wants better for his sister and Jessie so add being a hypocrite to his pile of turn off character traits. He literally thinks with his dick - I am not kidding.
Add in he's a sex addict for starters - I've know a sex addict - he hit on me at my dad's funeral! cheated on his partners constantly and even screwed a guest at his mom's birthday dinner in the bathroom - all things this charmer Jack would do as well. These people can't seem to stop themselves from screwing anything that catches their eye, you know like Jack does constantly in the book - and we constantly have to read about it and think oh if only Jessie could land this hot hunk Jack - wtf??
Monogamy is not for them or apparently Jack. Which if you are single and others are up for casual fun - then what the hell - live your life. But as the main romantic interest in a romance book where most of us want a faithful mutually respectful relationship playing out- no thanks! All I could think about while reading this was how many STI's Jack must have had -but hey we can't bring up negative stuff like that - only how many times he has gotten blown over the years! But wait no he's clean - he's been tested for everything - they can go without condoms- I just can't with this BS after hearing about all the fucking he's been doing for over a decade. My eyes rolled so far back it was like they were trying to prevent me from having to read this BS. Then after they finally have sex he goes back to nailing anything he can. It's the same crap from the first book - did we really need another book to just hear about Jack's sex life?
Anyway moron Jessie - one of the most pathetic female characters I have ever read about - and I read dark romance books - of course offers continually to look after this asshole's kid cause you know he has priorities like screwing - keeps pining after his selfish ass and in general again making me wish she would have been the one who died in the car accident rather than Brandy the kids mom who had more backbone in a hospital bed than Jessie did this entire book. After he finally screws her and then takes off she can't believe it - like I said moron - anyone could see this coming except your stupid ass. I couldn't even muster up an ounce of sympathy because I actually loathed her that much. Then her idiot ass does it again.
I honestly felt disgust for her - and I hate saying that about female characters but I swear the author seemed to want to write a character that was as pathetic as possible to see if we still rooted for her. Lady I know I didn't! Finally she gets with another guy who of course is a sexual dud. I guess the author clued in that the only way Jack looked like a prize to win was to compare him to this lame ass duck. At the end there's an accident and Jessie might be dead - how sad is it that I was hoping it was true to put both her and us out of our misery!!
I am sure you are sick of all my negativity so here is some positivisty - reading this convinced me to not go back and re-read my one star reviews! I also won't be reading book three of this 'couples' story beyond skimming to see their no doubt HEA -hahaha- as if. When the most compelling part of a romance book is the side story of a missing stripper - well......- this is truly awful and like I said I read dark romance!
The writing and style is great but…..Jessie….urghh! have some self respect.
This is my second time reading this book. I really struggle as although it’s extremely well written I can’t stand how much of a wallflower Jessie is. I’d love to get the authors insight into her decision writing the story. Jack is Jack and with his history it explains why he is the way he is. What doesn’t make sense is Jessie. She’s a smart, strong person who puts up with being treated like a doormat. No self respecting woman would put up with it, friends or not. Jacks wants her, pulls her in, then pushes her away treating her like 💩. She constantly feels humiliated. Walks out then goes back time and time again. I’d love to have seen him have to fight for her. It’s like she’s just waiting pathetically until he is ready. He then breaks her heart. Jack himself comments and says she isn’t a doormat to Jessie’s friend, but she absolutely is. You don’t go back to someone to be friends and wait on them doing everything for them and get nothing in return. I know Jack has his issues but Jessie should have more self respect. I know she liked him enough to put her hurt aside, but again he just continued to sleep around. That’s his choice, but Jessie going back to him after that was just urghhh! Also knowing he’d screwed his way through women again after they’d been together and then let him touch her again. Him saying that he was sorry for hurting her and saying he’d do anything to take it back….whilst balls deep inside of her!! He then hurts her again. That’s not his fault though as much, this time it was all on Jessie. She said she loved him anyway but ffs woman put yourself first….let him fight for you, you deserve nothing less. Then she marries Scott, he treats her badly and again she puts up with it making excuses. I understand Jack and his damaged soul, but Jessie I just wanted to bang her head against the wall. So frustrating.

Jack and Jessie have a story that is one of passionate love and friendship. Their relationship and the fight with oneself to comes to terms with being in love is profound. It is a slow burn.
Just when you think Jack and Jessie couldn’t get worse! If anything she lowers herself even more in this book, it’s pathetic. I think she has to be one of the weakest female leads I have ever read!
Jack continues his manwhore ways (the way he talks about the women he screws is vile, he is vile). Not only does he use Jessie when it suits and basically has her raising his kid, he finally sleeps with her, regrets it and has a different woman in his room the very next day. All whilst she was in potential danger for their job and he had no clue where she was because he was to busy screwing around trying to forget her! And what’s worse… Jessie FORGIVES him!
Jessie eventually tries to move on, with an Ex (don’t ever go back), forgives the warning signs and tries to settle because she can’t ever have Jack (yawn) and then an accident happens = cliffhanger
When Jack was young, he decided he had the same problem that his father had . It was in his DNA and nothing could change it. He hated his father for it so he just wouldn’t have a family so he couldn’t mess it up like his father had. No matter what he really wanted, he knew it was for the best.
Jessie just wanted someone to love her, to make her feel wanted, like she was the most special person in their world. But real life isn’t like a fairy tale and people are just people.
Burned is the second book in the Wrecked Hearts series and well worth your time to read.
Loved these first three books .probably a bit more story and he deserved to catch something to make him change his ways. His attitude very annoying most of time ,think he needed therapy for sex addiction.
Jessie and Jack are at it again, the chemistry beyond these two is steamy and most definitely leaves you wanting more of them together. But Jack isn’t one to commit so in the process breaks Jessie’s heart.
An easy read. But yuck Jack is such a prick. I hate to think of him raising Kennedy. I can’t believe that many ‘hot’ girls are just so willing to have sex with him. Too gross.
