When you stand for something in life, you're bound to make some enemies. It's just my luck that my enemy turned out to be a really evil asshole with very powerful magic.
Hector Haworth is coming after me no matter how hard I keep pretending he isn't. I've got two things he wants badly: a wolf he can possess, and the Reaper String--an enchanted item that can give him access to even more power.
Giving up my freedom for the safety of my sister felt like a small price to pay--right until she went and disappeared again. With Red already gone and Amara too angry to even look at me, I felt more alone than ever, backed against the wall with no idea what to do.
It didn't help that my wolf fought me at every turn, like we were sworn enemies and we had been so since birth.
But somewhere along the way, she lets me see into her memories, lets me know where she came from. Controlling her isn't an option, but we both know that if we don't learn to play nice together, neither of us is going to survive for long. Sacrifices must be made to bring down Haworth. But will we like what comes after?
Rcvd an advanced reader copy from the author for giving my two cents....whoa...I did not see that coming. Vicky is now working for the Finn as promised..making a deal with the devil so to speak. Her sister is safe, Red is gone, bad guy got away and life is just peachy. Until vicky learns her sister is gone and haworth broke into the ECU and stole back his artifacts. She is now detemined more than ever to find izzy and put an end of howarth. On a side note, she still can't control her wolf but now she is seeing her wolf's memories....a witch family and her white wolf brother and has learned her wolf has a name...Rowan. finn wants to see what she is and they do the normal tests to determine that in fact Vicky is a witch...a Green one and a baby at that. But no werewolf is shown in her blood. After Finns crew use magic to make her shift, Finn moves her to his HQ only to be attacked by Howarth but is saved when Finn jumps in front of her to save her. Victoria's world is rocked and the next thing she's seeing hallucinations of Red. Is she losing her mind? Why is her wolf showing her visions? Will vicky get izzy back?
I loved Wolf Witch, the first book in D.N. Hoxa’s Victoria Brigham series. Now Victoria is back in Wolf Uncovered (Book 2) and everything great about that first book is back at least as strong as ever. Haworth is after Victoria. She had just what he wants - and not in a good way. Can she deal with him or not? Will she learn to work with her wolf when it’s for all the marbles, or not? These are good questions - and there’s lots a thrills and excitement as we work towards an answer to them. Once again a perfected plotted extremely well written story with a great lead and supporting cast. This is truly great stuff that’s a wonderfully enjoyable read. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
KICKING UP THE HEAT!!! Whoa baby! Talk about getting off on the wrong foot. This is one exciting, action packed, fast paced, hard hitting, nailbiting, heart pounding, pulse racing, smooth flowing, page turning dynamo that grabs your attention and holds it until the last word. All the drama, fear, uncertainty, danger and suspense increases steadily while tension spirials as the plot thickens. Twists and turns abound with unexpected circumstances and unpredictable surprises that make for one thrilling experience. The characters are complex and believable with such depth and individuality it's easy to relate. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive it's easy to picture each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. Hoxa did a remarkable job bringing this read to life. Fantastic job Hoxa, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
I probably would’ve given this book a five star rating but Vicki was acting so stupid that really irritated me. Apparently Vicky can’t seem to realize that her sister might be doing what she wants to do and not actually have been kidnapped by other people. It sounded to me like Vicky was being self-centered and selfish and could not seem to see past what she wanted to what somebody else might want. The only unselfish thing seemed like that she did in here was worry about red. Even the witch that was helping her couldn’t seem to stand her attitude. I like the fact that Finn is talked about quite a lot in this book. He’s been in previous series but really there hasn’t been a lot mentioned about him. I hope in the next book of the series Vicky pulls her head out of her butt and realizes that she needs to leave her sister alone and stop being selfish.
First let me say that I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book, but it in no way influenced my feedback. I always leave an honest review. Omg!! If I thought book 1 was gr8, let me tell you it just gets better in book 2. I can't share too much with you, as I don't want to give anything away. Just when you think Victoria gets smarter in protecting herself, she screws it all up. Red was the first to try and stop her to protect her, then Finn tried. She's so stubborn & thick-headed. Amara is just as stubborn, but she's also pushy. So much happens in this story, you have to read it. I recommend this read 5 Thumbs up
Victoria is tired... Tired of running, tired of hiding, tired of trying to find her sister, who has gone missing. Victoria is tired of battling her wolf every step of the way, and she's tired of the uncertainty of who or WHAT she is. Victoria is consumed with guilt for not protecting her sister, and vows to free her from the clutches of Haworth.... But when Victoria begins to share in the memories of her wolf, she becomes even more confused. What does it all mean?
Riveting! Loved this installment of the series, and am eagerly awaiting the next book!
Victoria is really too stupid to live. I kept thinking her character would grow. It did not. I read the second book hoping it would get better. It did not. So, you know the stupid lead who runs into every fight without weapons and a plan....yep, this is Victoria. She then admits that she should learn how to fight.....but she never does. She is not prepared or has a freakin plan for anything. Hopefully, she will get a clue in the next book, although I am not sure I will read it.
Victoria is getting progressively smarter and making better decisions, but still . . . yikes! Her sister is causing trouble again, and I had a hard time caring for myself, but I did care on behalf of Victoria. I spend most of the novel not wanting her to trust anyone except her wolf, and she makes some progress there.
Cool to get a little of the wolf's backstory in this installment.
I wouldn't read this out of order, but I do recommend it if you like a different take on werewolves and witches and if you don't mind a slightly foolish protagonist.
I’m like the storyline but out of hundreds of shifter and werewolf books I’ve read Victoria is the dumbest and most clueless character I have seen. Why can’t she just listen to people, except who she is a be a kick butt heroine it’s just frustrating that every other page she does something that just everyone hurt or doesn’t make any sense. Now Hoxa is a good writer with great ideas but think she missed something on the main character Victoria.
This is book 2 to the Victoria Brigham series and it’s even better than the 1st book and it’s the continuation of Victoria’s story. Sorry guys I’m not going to give any spoilers so if you want to know more then read D.N. Hoxa’s Blurb and that will give you the gist to this story, there’s action, suspense, danger, drama, twists and turns and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages. A fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
The story wends it's way through loyalty, compassion, and persistence. Through conviction alone would our mysterious heroin succeed. And that was at no time contrived. This story put me in the place of the wolf and I worried all the time. But the not knowing sometimes makes a story.
I really enjoyed the characters more than I thought I would. I turned the pages hardly being able to put my kindle down afraid I’d miss what’s happening next. It had surprises, betrayals, cliffhangers and romance. This is what makes a great book and a magical writer! Keep it coming
The second book is even worse than the first. I will not be continuing this series. Victoria is a major idiot and you spend much of the book disgusted with her and her choices. I’m surprised that I was even able to finish this book, it is that bad.
That's the only spoiler you get! Lots of action! Keeps you on your toes! 😊 I'm gonna find out what happens NEXT! THANKS for sharing your time, talent and the story!
Ok I’ll admit I like the story. I just wish I could handle the main character. She comes off more stupid than headstrong or a bit of both I think. It kinda grates in my nerves a bit. But I do want to see how this ends.
Hoxa is a great author, but with book one I hesitated to read book two. Book two was a million times better, and we get more questions and some answers. Some of the revelations were huge. I feel very excited to continue the series.
RATING: 4–⭐ AGE: Pg-18 SERIES: VICTORIA BRIGHAM *THIS SERIES IS LINKED TO “WINTER WAYNE” AND “SCARLET JONES” SERIES. Victorian Brigham (sister of Isabel & a Storm Witch) -raised as wolf but she is actually Arius not dead daughter. Mrs.C 😀
This is the second book in the Victoria Brigham series. When Victoria was young she ran from home to protect her family from who she really was - a wolf with out the were. Her dad shows up and wants her to hunt for her sister and she can't say no.
Very fascinating and building plot that hints at a lot of twists and turns to be revealed in the future, not to mention some secrets! Waiting for book 3!!!
Not completed series, book 4 ends with a cliffhanger. Victoria, makes more stupid decisions and goes after her sister again, who takes care of Haworth herself. Short. 10+ years. Unlikeable silly FMC.
