His Jewel

Rate this book
He’s my boss. The chemistry between us doesn’t matter.

I know he’s staring at me.

I know he’s thinking about me.

I know he wants me.

But I’ll die before I admit I want him back.

But that may just be what happens.

Because I’m a software engineer for one of the most important firms in the city, but someone doesn’t like what I’m doing to keep his company safe.

I’ve never relied on anyone in my life, but I’m going to need to rely on him.

I don’t know if I can do that and stay out of his bed.

And I’m starting not to care...

Sizzling Romance: A Quick Read

“His Jewel”is a quick read, almost a novella at 99 pages. Fiery sex revolves around Rex, a self-made captain of industry, and Jewel, an efficient and skilled software designer who works under contract to Rex. *Spoiler Alert*
Kane O’ Neil, Rex’s competitor sets off an ancillary plot thread by trying to hire Jewel away from Rex’s latest security software project. Jewel refuses citing contract clauses. Jewel and Rex quickly become caught up in Kane’s clandestine maneuvers to steal the software and do away with them. The showdown among Kane, his hired thugs, and Rex trigger his seldom called upon but gutsy and colossal fighting skills.
There is not much character development in ”His Jewel” because the story is so short. The dominant - submissive thread in Rex and Jewel’s first intimate relationship baffled me. At the beginning of the relationship, Rex is all macho man not thinking twice about pulling Jewel’s hair, slapping her, and barking out orders. Jewel’s strength and willpower are kept hidden, while superficially she gives in and submits to Rex.
Rex quickly, without reason given, becomes Mr. Nice Guy. Is this because his daughter from a previous relationship is introduced to the plot. Is it entirely her presence which softens Rex’s demeanor? Or is it the strengthening relationship between Jewel and Rex?
Jewel also discovers that one night of unprotected sex with Rex has consequences. Does the future of being a father help to develop Rex’s softer side.? The end of ”My Jewel” arrives all too quickly. I wish that the author had spent more time on improving the characters, especially Rex and Jewel. Focusing on their interaction with supporting characters would have brought sustenance to the story. Overall, the author might have finished with a longer novel.

Nice story. I loved it.

Jewel, an independent developer, has been hired by Rex's company to create programs for the government. It's not easy to work for him. They always argue, he does not listen to her, and she hates being attracted to someone like him. But a common threat forces them to get closer than they should.

Rex has been avoiding Jewel for two years. He was attracted to her since they met, but it wasn't a good idea for anything to happen between them. Until a time comes when he can't help it.

I loved Rex and Jewel. They both know what they want, they are stubborn, they don't want anyone to decide for them. Both have resisted their attraction for months, but there comes a point when they can't take it anymore. They argue a lot, but they fit together, and try to forge a future together. I loved them together.

I loved Mike, the voice of reason. A story for him?

I didn't like that Rex neglected his daughter so much that he would barely spend time with her before the story. He thought it was the best for, but she should have both of her parents in her life.

I recommend it.

I'm torn in this book, it's a well written romance story with angst, drama, and action but in the beginning I didn't like the H (Rex) our leading man and the h (Jewel) was too whinny and to weak. Rex is the CEO of a security firm which has a government contact that he hired Jewel a programmer to create called Darwin's Bark. The deadline is fast approaching when Rex's life changes. His ex-wife needs him to take Izzie their child while she flies with her boyfriend to his family for his sick and dying dad. Being a controlling man, having Izzie at his home opens him up and he starts to explore his feelings for Jewel but trouble starts when another security firm threatens him and his business. Do our couple find their HEA? I did enjoy the book overall and Izzie was a great character (wise beyond her years). I volunteer to read and review this ARC

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is an enemies to lovers romance between Jewel and her boss Rex. Jewel is a programmer who is hired by Rex to make a security program. Jewel is attracted to Rex, but she thinks he is a jerk and hates that she wants him. Rex is attracted to Jewel, but he likes getting her angry and enjoys teasing her. When Rex has to care for his daughter suddenly, he leaves Jewel without explaining to her why he is leaving her after finally getting close. When jewel is sent to fix a problem with the software, there is a danger nobody expected and Rex must come to her rescue. I enjoyed this book, i thought it was fast paced and Rex was a strong alpha who knew how to protect Jewel, but she surprised him as well. Good one.

Jewel is a software engineer who works on security projects.
Rex is Jewel’s boss and he is very hard on her, always asking for more and more.
Rex uses that behaviour to cover what he feels for her. However, with the time passing, his feelings are more difficult to be kept by himself.
I didn’t like Rex at the beginning but then I started to see under his skin.
Mike was quite a surprise and the voice of experience talking some sense into Rex.
The book is well-written and quite interesting with the action and adventure. A different story with deeper roots than the usual boss and office romance.

Wow I absolutely loved this story by F.F. Perez. Jewel is an software engineer and she works for Rex who owns one of the biggest software companies, Jewel knows that Rex is watching her and she secretly wants him too. One night Jewel was in a bar when a man comes up to her and offers to help break her contract to Rex’s company but Jewel wants nothing to do with it which leaves Rex’s competitor pretty angry. I loved this story the characters even the bad guy he was pretty nasty, a fantastic storyline a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

This was a good read, but I had some problems liking Rex. He was arrogant and rude to Jewel. Jewel is so smart she's one of the best in the business. I didn't like the way she folded when he would try to be sexy. I was not feeling it during the beginning. Now once Izzy came into the picture I liked the way he changed. The conflict with Kane O'Neil gave us plenty of action and suspense. All in all, I really enjoyed it. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.

Parts of the plot were very good. I did not like some of it.

Jewel is a woman who carved her mark in a man's world of writing computer programmes for tighter security. She is an independent contractor. Yet, she is abused by Rex, and still wants him. She puts up with a lot of the abuse. I was very disappointed in that. The rest of the plot was very good with corporate espionage, danger and violence. The abuse and her overall acceptance of it, is why I give this 2 stars.

This book is a bit different from what I expected but overall good. It has some an alpha male, a sarcastic female and an intelligent kid. The dialogue between Jewel and her boss, Rex are hilarious at times. The story is short and somewhat rushed at the end, but it has a happily ever after. Jewel not only helps her boss out with getting rid of the competition, but gets him to see what the future can hold.

This is an exciting read! The storyline is well developed and the pace is relatively fast. It is action packed with adventure, fighting, nefarious acts, humour, violent suspense, and witty banter. The characters – Rex is obnoxious and Jewel is sarcastic - together are a perfect match; the chemistry between them is off the charts. This is a really enjoyable read, I had fun reading it.

Jewel is a a skilled soft ware designer who works for Rex they are working together on a security program When Kane one of Rex's competitor tries to lure Jewel away she says no but he isn't taking that for an answer Leading to a confrontation between Rex and Kane and his thugs Meanwhile the lust is building between Rex and Jewel. This is only a short story only 99 pages so it suffers a little on character development but that is to be expected

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Rex and Jewel. They have a very fiery working relationship, but beneath it all are passionate sparks.

The company is working on a security software, however their competitors try everything they can to derail their work.

A great story with a HEA.

I really enjoyed this! The story had a great flow to it and it wasn't too long or too short and it had the right amount of information that it didn't leave you wanting more. Although I would love to know more after what happens in the epilogue but that's because I'm just greedy. This was great!

What just happened??!!

Not happy about the book.
Male character had no finesse whatsoever.
The chemistry between the 2 main characters was very disappointing. I felt they lacked something and they were just going through the motions from bully, to "in lust", to I don't know what...Sorry to say...not a fan of this story.

Rex doesn't have time for relationships nor does he want to, but he can't seem to stop thinking of Jewel. Jewel thinks Rex is obnoxious and rude but she still wants him. I got this book free for a honest review. the story and characters were enjoyable and interesting.
