Welcome back all you wonderful Hailraisers! Within these pages, you will be treated to not one, but two plot lines filled with explosions, drones, guns and heavy machinery sprinkled with a little tech magic. Marshall Hail and Kara Ramey have been given a new mission that will completely change their lives. Alliances are broken when Hail discovers that people in Washington have lied to him. Twists and turns? Check. Edge of your seat thrills? Check. Will Hail and his crew take out more terrorists? Checkmate. Buckle up and get ready for another fun ride!
I have enjoyed all the "Hail" books until this one. It is clear that the author was in such a hurry to try and get this out by the holidays that he forgot to check his "logic" and his "spelling". I cannot understand how there can be so many grammatical and spelling errors if the book was properly vetted but most of all, I can only suspend my disbelief so much before it becomes farcical.
Spoiler Alert: Some example of no logic: 1. Kara goes undercover as a print reporter - Tamimi loves the spotlight, why would she agree to an interview by some unknown reporter? How hard would it be to check out her background?, unless the CIA wrote a whole bunch of articles and slipped them into the newspaper's web site... 2. How in the world do they not think something is up when the world's largest plane and one used by the military shows up at the airport? How is it possible that they don't dictate that the interview will take place in a secure area with their own stage, lights, etc.? 3. Hail and Kara would most likely be followed and their rooms bugged but they talk freely about their plans... 4. This is where I nearly threw the book at the wall: The author states that Hail and Kara don't know what Tamimi looks like these days since the picture in her dossier is very old... but earlier in the book, the author says that Tamimi loves the spotlight and even has a talk show!!! I think the CIA would be able to a recent picture just using google! 5. If the CIA doesn't want Hail to go with Kara, just order her to use another CIA agent - is she now running the CIA? 6. The world's largest plane can simply get take off clearance at a moments notice? The agents protecting Tamimi wouldn't call ahead to the airport?
There is more but you get the idea.
As I stated, I can and do suspend disbelief in many novels that I read but this one is asking me to suspend my brain entirely!

Simply Superb. If you enjoy thrillers, then you will love this book. Brett Arquette has a great writing style, and he easily draws you into the story. I like the diverse range of characters, along with the interesting technology and equipment used in the story. You could read this as a standalone book, however I would certainly recommend the other fabulous books in this series. The Israeli’s might have left Halati Tamimi’s father alone if they could have predicted the trouble, she would cause them in the future. Halati wasn’t going to sit back and let Israel push the Jordanian and Palestinian people around without some sort of payback. Only problem for Halati is that she unknowingly caused harm to some US citizens. Of course, America wasn’t about to let this pass, and Halati became an instant enemy, with the CIA keen to get hold of her. Marshall Hail and Kara Ramey were more than willing to try and capture the wanted terrorist, but it wasn’t going to be easy as she was one of the most protected people on the planet, as she knew there were plenty of people that would like to see her either dead or captured. After reading this book you can see why so many other readers have given the Author 5 stars for his stories, thoroughly deserving. This really is an enjoyable book from start to finish.
Outing number 4 for Marshall Hail and the drones. Smaller drones, bigger baddies, and not just terrorists this time, as someone steals one of Hail Industries’ wave reactors to try and find out how it works. This in addition to the next one on the wanted list! Some more nice back story on “the five” without it taking the focus away from the twin plots as they twist and turn in this fast paced techno thriller. All the loose ends neatly tidied up to, but still room to prime for the next in the series
This is the fourth novel about the billionaire Marshall Hail, and it's just as exciting as the first three, perhaps more so! There have been a lot of books written which utilise technology to achieve their goal; in this case, the capture or elimination of international terrorists. The big difference between the books written by Brett Arquette and the others is that he has a very real understanding of current technology and the rapid advances that it has made in recent years. Everything in the book is more or less plausible and feasible with only a fairly small stretch of the imagination. We already have drones and robots which can perform many tasks, so whose to say that the Hail drones can't exist? Anyway, the plot is well thought out, there are quite a few twists in the story, a real page turner! Highly recommended!
This is another amazing story from a great author. The writing puts u straight into the characters world. The ups and downs keep u guessing what will happen next. I’m excited to read what happens next to Hail.. Recommend to anyone who loves a great read
Another good book in the Hail series. I was given an early copy to proof read -hopefully the corrections made it into the book! The plot seemed to have a long lead up to the main event and then the final piece of action was over too quickly.
Enjoyed it. Was pleased that history wasn't re hashed. There has to be another book. Marshal is on a mission to kill the terrorist who shot down the plane his wife and daughters were on
I have been a fan of Brett Arquette's Hail series for years! In this excursion into Hail's world , one of his mastered radioactive power generators is hijacked by a Chinese group as they steal what they cannot create. Hail resorts to his unique drones to eliminate the perpetrators. I'm the mean time he and Kara succeed in abducting a Palestinian terrorist on behalf of the CIA. When Hail realizes that it was she who was responsible for the death of his wife and twin daughters, he swears he will get his revenge!
Marshall Hail is a Nobel Prize-winning physicist who invented the highly efficient nuclear wave reactor, went on to become a major industrialist, and is now an active antiterrorist with White House connections. Apparently, he is quite a multi-tasker! Hail operates from his super cargo-flagship Hail Nucleus, assisted by a group of young techno-geeks who manage his fleet of weaponized mini-drones.
Yes, it is an over-the-top billing for the hero of Brett Arquette's Marshall Hail series, Operation Hail Storm (2016), Hail Strike (2017), and now Hail Damage (2018). These are self-published (no longer an epithet) techno-thrillers by a writer establishing a base. I started with the first book as an experiment with the self-publication concept and found, to my surprise, that I really enjoyed it. I had the same response to the second. Both have an average Goodreads rating of "4". If you might be inclined to try the self-published concept, like the mix of technology and geopolitical thriller, and don't grumble about a typo or two, I recommend this series, though not necessarily this book.
Marshall Hail's life hasn't been just Nobel Prizes and high achievements. Three years before the events in this book his family—a wife and two young daughters—was murdered in the bombing of an airliner as it took off from the airport in Düsseldorf, Germany. The event was part of a synchronized series of terrorist attacks, and it turned Hail to antiterrorism warrior.
In Hail Damage Marshall and his sidekick-lover, CIA agent Kara Ramey, are brought into two competing stories. The first is Middle East terrorism. That tale begins with a brief introduction to Halati Talimi, a leader of the Hamas terrorist group; Talimi's motive is revenge for the Israelis killing her father and brother. Her specialty is construction of suicide vests and overseeing their use in public places. This requires some knowledge of electricity and an ability to get dumb-as-a-post kids to take a very short-term job with no retirement benefits. The start of her illustrious career had been a very successful suicide-bombing of a Jordan coffee shop in 2003. Her most recent effort was the bombing of an airliner taking off from Düsseldorf airport.
Then we shift to the West African country of Togo, where Hail's company is constructing a nuclear wave form reactor in the mountainous interior. A railroad line has been built to service it from the coast, and a special remote-controlled train is designed to run between the site and the coast. On its inaugural run, to deliver the reactor core, the train is disabled by a group of terrorists and the core is stolen, presumably to be reverse engineered elsewhere for making fissile material. The thief is a Chinese company that prefers theft to in-house innovation. Hail is watching the action from Hail Nucleus but is unable to stop the theft or to track the semi that leaves with the reactor aboard.
The scene quickly shifts again, now to the Oval Office where President Joanna Weston is meeting with CIA Director Jarret Pepper. The subject is a mission to abduct Halati Talimi from her base in Jordan. The mission is to be run by Kara Ramey and Marshall Hail, both of whom Pepper would like to be rid of but whose services are indispensable. The plan, based on Talimi's ego—she is a glutton for publicity—is to set up a fake TV interview of Talimi to take place in Jordan, then kidnap her and bring her to western justice.
So we have two stories going: the theft of a nuclear reactor by a Chinese company, and the abduction of a Hamas operative in Jordan. The common element is Marshall Hail, bereaved family man and creator of an entirely different source of nuclear energy. The logic of novels says that these stories will merge. But apparently Arquette didn't read the memo and the plots are independent; perhaps they will merge in number four.
This third offering in the Marshall Hail series is not up to the standard set by the first two. Those were fast-paced and action oriented; they filled the occasional need for a read that would entertain but not stress the little gray cells between the ears. This novel is slower and more contemplative, on the edge of sluggish.
Marshall Hail hunts terrorists for POTUS. His primary motivator? They killed his family. His primary weapons are drones. He's extraordinarily wealthy. Most of the money he receives for his services he donates to charities. They didn't tell him the female terrorist he captured was the one who murdered his family. Betrayal. He refuses to accept any more jobs. He wants revenge. This is an extremely fast paced masterfully written action thriller. Enjoyed immensely!
I loved this book. At first I thought the author was trying to get me to sympathize with the terrorists but then as I went on it was more showing how Marshall and Kara took care of her. Then the alternate story about the stolen material was kind of funny and I really enjoyed it too. I am glad that they found out who the terrorist was and what she had done and totally agreed that something should have been done to her. Highly recommended.
Have been hooked on Hail books since Hail Storm ! Written so a non technical person understands all details . Character development as well as recapping previous events makes reading seamless . Reader is invested in personal lives of characters and I,personally, appreciate details about ship's environment and how well managed that environment is to keep all personnel busy, productive and emotionally healthy Ready for next book!
After being disappointed with Hail Damage, I was hoping the next installment would be an exciting read. Hail Damage delivered and left me impatient for the next book! Totally enjoyed the drones and action and plot lines. But I'm still waiting for the inaugural flight of Def Leppard. That's gonna get you an instant 5 stars!
Another in the Hail line consistent with rest. Enjoy the characters and the addition of a bit more hands on action. Was a bit put off with a bit of political banter which has soured my view of this author. Hopefully I was inserting something that wasnt intended, and I will read future works as I enjoy the storylines.
I cannot express how much I like this series! I start reading and I don’t want to stop. The books are so exciting, very original and the characters are so real. The drones are awesome.
Brett Arquette has done it again! I love Marshall Hail and his adventures. This is my favorite Hail story yet - they keep getting better and better. While each could be read as a stand alone story, it’s better if you read them in order. I can’t wait for the next chapter in Hail’s life!
Very interesting the Insight of terrorist, and the workings of how to catch one . This really left wanting more hopefully soon thank you for a great read.
I’m perplexed. Arquette’s books in the Hail series are numbered 1-5. Each having their own different title. However, the stories are the EXACT same stories in that Book #2 is the same story as book #1. Then book #4 is the same story as Book #3! Each has a unique title. So I bought 4 books and got 2. What a Rip-Off! I liked the stories however even after being duped by the author / publisher. It’s not right. Shame on you Brett.
