Eden Winters

You will know Eden Winters by her distinctive white plumage and exuberant cry of “Hey, y’all!” in a Southern US drawl so thick it renders even the simplest of words unrecognizable. Watch out, she hugs!

Driven by insatiable curiosity, she possibly holds the world’s record for curriculum changes to the point that she’s never quite earned a degree but is a force to be reckoned with at Trivial Pursuit.

She’s trudged down hallways with police detectives, learned to disarm knife-wielding bad guys, and witnessed the correct way to blow doors off buildings. Her e-mail contains various snippets of forensic wisdom, such as “What would a dead body left in a Mexican drug tunnel look like after six months?” In the process of her adventures, she has written over thirty gay romance novels, lost count of novellas and short stories, has won Rainbow Awards, was a Lambda Awards Finalist, and lives in terror of authorities showing up at her door to question her Internet searches.

When not putting characters in dangerous situations she’s cosplaying for children's charities or hanging out at the farm being a mother, grandmother, and vegetarian.

Her natural habitats are hardware stores and on the backs of motorcycles.

Two years later... Audiobook = ❤❤❤❤❤

Original review January 2019:

Your hard-won happiness can blow up in your face in the blink of an eye...
description

That's what SNB Agent "Lucky" Lucklighter learns the hard way in this seventh installment of the Diversion series. Yeah well, Lucky should know that by now since it's not the first time things are blowing up around him. In his face and also everywhere else. But for the first time feeling content and happy in his life with his colleague, lover and hopefully soon-to-be husband (even if this guy keeps telling him no, for God's sake!) Bo Schollenberger, the stakes are pretty high and the direction of the blow threatens to burst his little bubble with a whoomph and pull the rug out from under his feet.

Everything starts innocent enough with a routine case, but suddenly it all seems to fall apart when his work and the lives of his close-knit circle of friends and coworkers turned family -not to mention real family- is on the line without even the hint of an idea what's going on and whom to trust. Add a teen who deserves the title 'drama queen of the year' and a blast from the past to the mix and Lucky has his hands full fighting to keep everyone and everything he loves safe by all available (and some usually rather unavailable) means, even if that implies sailing close to the wind...

GAWD, I LOVE THESE TWO! And no chance in hell that will ever change... I love how far Lucky and Bo have come, individually and in their relationship and yet still stay true to themselves. Like I already mentioned in my review for the previous book, Eden Winters is a master of weaving in the mystery part into the romance and of balancing out both perfectly, this one was no exception. And with red herrings galore, I found myself right in the center of a guessing game that had me on the edge of my seat. Lucky was once again at the top of his game with his snark and his comments granted the one or other laughing fit mostly ending up in me alternating between choking on my cookies and snorting coffee all over my Kindle, sometimes even both at the same time. Add in great side characters I came to love over the years and some helluva hot steam, only intensified by the emotions Lucky and Bo poured into their lovemaking and I couldn't have been happier with the outcome. All in all this was a pretty emotional read and I want the next one in this series like yesterday.

***First BR 2019 with my besties Karen, Josy and Christelle and Shile as our lovely stalker cheerleader and since the new year started right off with a bang, we decided to take it as a good omen for our buddy reads to come this year. Ladies, thank you sooo much for the fun! ❤***

YEAH !!!!!!!! Finally, more of Lucky and Bo. The 7th book of the series and the *awesomeness* of this series is not faltering…not even a second 😍😅😍

A year ago, I gave a go at this series about Lucky, a former drug trafficker working off his sentence with the Southeastern Narcotics Bureau, and Bo, a newbie at SNB and to be trained by Lucky to go on the field. Since Diversion, I got fully invested and ADDICTED in following their various adventures, whether it be their missions at the SNB, the dealing with their past and ghosts, or their falling for each other. It is so entertaining !!!

Being in Lucky’s head, the best grumpy ass** in my reading world, is a thrill I can’t get enough. It’s hilarious to see him playing (well…trying, but us, readers can see through his BS) the badass while mellowing to Bo and building some fierce and loyal strings with his sister, his boss, a cat, and, gasp, even some friends.

Every book is another layer unravelled, another experience, another hilarious step towards contentment. And this one doesn’t disappoint : Lucky having to play uncle (OMG, Lucky dealing with 2 teenagers 😅), Lucky going into a fit because somebody has the audacity to hurt his boss and to jeopardize his hard-won place within the SNB, Lucky having to face his past once again…and even Lucky learning to be polite and saying “thank you” 😅

Yep, life is never boring with Lucky and Bo. And cherry on the cake : Eden Winters made it even more steamy – Handcuffs, Ladies and Gentlemen,...Handcuffs, …- and even more delightfully funny.

Could it get better ?? Let me think…oh yeah : if Eden Winters could write way, way, way faster so that I can get again tons of fun watching Lucky and Bo adjusting to the “new boss in town” : it’s going to be soooooo good to watch them dealing with that new twist 😅😍

**Dear partners in crime, thanks for this BR, the first of 2019 and it started in a blaze !!!**

What an awesome way to start the new year...Buddy Read with some of my besties...Josy, Christelle & Simone. I think I can safely say we all loved this one...more Bo, more Lucky how could we possibly go wrong? We couldn't and now after the fun of reading this wonderful story is done all that remains is to write the review (soonish!) and wait for the next book to be released...waiting....patiently waiting...not...well, I am waiting...I'm not sure about the patient part but I'll work on it.

My first buddy read for 2019...

It's always good to start the year of right and that's what me and my buddy read group did. We started our buddy read adventures for this year with Lucky and Bo.

'Suspicion' is the seventh book in Eden Winters 'Diversion' series and it is every bit if not even better than the first book. I've been reading this series since it first came out back in 2012 and I have every intention of being there until the end...which hopefully won't be any time soon.

I love Lucky and Bo, they are absolutely one of my favorite book couples and like good wine they've only improved with time. I love their banter and snark. I love how they know each other and how things work between them and that's only gotten better with each story.

There was a lot going on in this one as is usually the case with these men and I really can't stress that if you haven't read the first 6 books in this series I strongly encourage doing that before getting into this one.

So now here's where I get lazy because I see that some of my buddy read friends have already done all the hard work and written awesome reviews for this one so I'm just going to say that I really, really loved it and reading it with my besties who also loved this series only made it that much better so here the links to some already written awesome reviews by my friends...Christelle, Josy and Simone...

This is another great entry in a favorite series - here we get more relationship-building between Lucky and Bo, and watch Lucky flailing around trying to do his best for his sister, his nephews, his boss Walter, and his job, while also trying not to admit to some of the emotions that drive him.

Walter has a medical crisis at work, driving home to Lucky how much Walter's mentoring has meant to him. Lucky also has his teen nephews living with him and Bo, as his sister tries to sell her house, and Ty in particular is a mirror for the teenager Lucky once was, bad attitude and all. Amid the emotional stresses, he is also being squeezed out at work, without Walter there to go to bat for him. Only Bo seems to be solidly on his side, and they are being assigned separate duties. It takes all the growing up Lucky has done over the past decade to not completely lose it.

There's a growing suspicion that Walter's illness may not have been completely natural. Perhaps the antagonism Lucky faces at work is due to more than just his abrasive attitude and inability to play office politics. Even Rett Johnson, whom he considers a friend, does suspicious things. The life he and Bo were building, and the future they seemed to be on course for, are at risk. And if Walter really was drugged or poisoned into his attack, the risks may be physical as well. Which, with two kids at home counting on him, is more worrying and less exhilarating than Lucky is used to.

The mystery here develops gradually, and the personal and relationship side is highlighted, which I appreciated because I love the complexity of established relationships. Bo is steady and supportive as usual, and the occasional emergence of his Cyrus side adds spice. This ends warmly, in a way that could complete the series, but hints of future complications and progress make me hopeful that more may be yet to come for these two appealing guys.

My reading year is off to an awesome start not only because I got to buddy read this book with my lovely ladies Simone, Karen, and Christelle but also because this long-awaited 7th book in the Diversion series was as spectacular as I hoped it would be!

It had everything I love in a book: a great mystery, lots of romance, snark and banter, hawt sex, emotional scenes that made me cry, and funny moments worthy of laughing out loud.

These guys have been through so much and they continue to grow - not only on a personal level but as a couple as well - and it's been awesome to be part of their journey. I can't wait to see what Eden Winters has in store for them in the next installment.

I honestly can't imagine ever getting tired of Lucky & Bo and I hope that book 8 in the series will be released sooner rather than later!

Oh Victor Victor Victor Victor 😍😍😍😍, I was intrigued by him from book 1 and still am , I have a huge crush on this silver fox 🥰 Dear author please write a novella on Victor 😊 I’m a sucker for bad boys 😊😊

Eden has delivered on yet another explosive book, this series just keeps on getting better and better. No monotony whatsoever each book delivers something new and interesting

Lucky’s growth in this one is more noticeable and I’m all for it, his relationship with Bo is still going strong and they are still burning the sheets “You’re mine, aren’t you?” Bo growled, more statement than question.
“Yes.” Lucky tightened his hold, ramming his hips up to meet Bo’s strokes. “And you’re mine.”
I felt that ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

I got all emotional when Lucky had a one on one “session” with Ty, it was beautiful to read
My heart broke for Rett 💔

Walter gave me a serious scare 😱, I had to read while pacing 😂😅

😂 Moose and his ambushes on Lucky continue to make me laugh…on to the next 😘

I love this series! Each book is better than the last and the relationship gets stronger. This book showed the softer side of Lucky and loved it from start to finish. The interaction of Walter and Lucky and the bond they have. I love Bo and Lucky and was so excited to see the author mention there are still hopefully two more books left in this series. Thank you for writing such an amazing series, cannot wait for more.

Exciting and suspenseful

Thank goodness there are a couple more books for Bo & Lucky so I don’t have to go through withdrawal for a while. This was pretty thrilling with a whole new plot for Bo & Lucky to figure out. The sister and nephews are living with them and Lucky isn’t always dealing well. If you look back at the Lucky of book one, he’s completely different now but still the cocky T-Rex when he needs to be. My heart was in my throat with this one; so many changes at the SNB and Lucky not knowing what would become of him and Bo. The scenes where he visualizes his dreams for the future are touching. There’s also more blasts from the past. This is probably the steamiest of the series so far with more sex scenes than usual. So much fun reading this. I’m so hoping we’ll get wedding planning and babies in the coming books. I’m going to be soooo impatient!

I thought this was the last book, but a new book has come out this year and I think another book will follow!!
Hurray!
What can I say!
Amazing heroes, super-/crazy side characters, mysterious cases, awesome chases, adorable ex-enemies and mindbending allies!
I love this series and never want it to end!
Finally, it seems like things will be all right for Bo and Lucky!
But we haven't had the opportunity to meet Bo's family yet. I wonder when we will meet them.

I absolutely loved this book! So intense, so clever and suspenseful! Bo and Lucky protect their home turf with cunning precision. No enemy is safe when Lucky is in fight mode coupled with Bo's strategy and Johnson's tenacity! There is betrayal, subterfuge, love, hate, past mistakes and family squabbles making this an amazing story. Awesome!!! #TeamBoLucky

Oh. My!

Can I even pour all the feels I have right now into a few words?
Probably not!

We get heapfuls and heapfuls of gorgeous Lucky and Bo here. It is more than sigh-worthy to see them gelling privately and professionally to an extent that seemed impossible when we met them back in book 1!

Hasn't Lucky come a long, long way! He still might not want to be civil or polite or social to other people (and you just have to love his snarky sarcasm!), but now he's got a little Bo in his ears (and more importantly: in his heart!) guiding him and making him a better, more approachable person.

(One of the highlights is definitely Lucky apologizing to his mum ... not giving away more, but that really cracked me up!)

I loved all the nippy little thoughts that go through Lucky's head. He really is the most adorable prickly asshole. I snickered, I snorted and ultimately wanted to hug the hell out of him.

And Bo knows what he's got in Lucky. He is loyal and genuine to a default, and a thoroughly decent guy (when "you look past all the bullshit" - Bo's words, not mine!)).

Lucky can now look at himself and realize when he is going wrong. Like ...that his tendency to overprotect is maybe not always necessary or a good idea.

And yet, Lucky still has got a lot of self-doubt going, something that Walter puts right in the most touching way. The relationship between these two is truly heart-warming on every level! I adored the whole plot line going on there!

Of course, needless to even mention it, Lucky and Bo are as hot together as ever. The urgency in their sexual encounters took my breath away.

Absolutely brilliant series!

A Joyfully Jay review.

4 stars

Suspicion is the seventh book in Eden Winters’ fabulous Diversion series. Those of you who have read my reviews for a while may remember how much I enjoy this series and how I adore Bo and Lucky as a couple. Winters has done a great job over this series of developing their relationship and really giving both men a chance to grow. At the same time, this is a fabulous suspense series and the books provide great individual stories, as well as tying together across the series.

In Suspicion, the relationship side of things is more of a focus, at least for the first part of the book. Things are solid between Bo and Lucky, but they are taking care of their nephews and this is adding stress, particularly for Lucky. He has a strained relationship with Ty, and Lucky can’t help but question his decision to stay out of their lives for so long. It is also hard for him to see how well the boys take to Bo when Ty will barely speak to him. Not to mention having two teens in their house is definitely putting a damper on their love life. So there is some family stress here and it is the main focus of the early part of the book.

Read Jay’s review in its entirety here.

4.5. This may have been my favorite in the series so far. Finally, finally Lucky confided in Bo and they worked the case together. The case was great, I was glued to my seat! I would definitely recommend this one, it obviously can't be read as a standalone.

***Audio Review***

Darcy Stark does a stellar job as per usual with one of my fave couples in the M/M genre. This audio also includes 2 other novella length stories Relation and Tradition.

***Book Review***

Wonderful. Lucky should keep trusting his instincts and Bo should keep on loving him. We have a fully rounded cast of characters now, with a re-located sister and nephews, good friends [Rett in particular], and all's right with the world cos Lucky's boss and surrogate dad Walter didn't die, thank goodness. Yes, we all knew that Jameson O'Donoghue was an arse and what happened proved it, but hopefully with Victor keeping watch on things from Nice, boss man in training Bo, person in charge of training rookies Lucky, and undercover agent Rett to steer the ship, there'll be loads more stories to come...including one where a little baby Bo arrives in the world 👼. 💚🧡💙💛💜

Audiobook review

Curse weekdays and work. How I wished for a day off to savour and devour this book in peace and free of interruptions. But sadly, that didn’t happen, but I enjoyed every second of this book anyway.

In theory Bo and Lucky should have been living their happily ever afters. They are both home, together and mostly whole. They also have work they love and are planning for their joint future surrounded by family, chosen and otherwise. In theory… The reality is somewhat different. Lucky’s nephews are sullen and pushes buttons and nerves Lucky didn’t even know he had – or had to deal with. Then there are major changes happening at SNB. Changes that sends Lucky spinning in more ways than one. Loyalties are questioned and seemingly unholy alliances are formed in order to right the wrongs and uncover the plots threatening them all.

This book is definitely in the running for my favourite book in the series. The mystery part of the story hits close to home, and was a sure way to engage the listener and make them pay attention and wanting to burn places down alongside Lucky in search of answers. But it’s not only the mystery that engages, the different relationships do too. Relationships, plural. It’s not a Lucky solo show anymore. He has friends, family and loved ones and I love spending time with them all. Things have changed so much since the beginning; they’ve been through hell and back and have changed so much over the years. Still, they are also the same people we first met and fell for. I love that Lucky is still playing Achy Breaky Heartt to irritate people, it makes me smile every time. I love the snark and banter and rough edges.

I love Lucky and Walters relationship, loved how it has grown over the years. The mutual respect and love between them. Walter might not be Lucky’s biological father, but they are family all the same. And when that is threatened there’s no line Lucky won’t cross to get to the bottom of things. Lucky have come far since we first met him, but he’s still him underneath the softened edges.

Darcy Stark once again delivered a great performance and I savoured every second I spent listening, to the book, but also the two novellas. I love how he captured Lucky and Walter’s relationship he made you feel the bond between them. I also love the southern accents, I have a weakness for accents and they are always a treat to listen to. Darcy Stark has become synonymous to this series, he knows these characters intimately and can portray them in a way that makes the listener feel they know them as well. Just by listening to his voice. He captures the nuances of each character but also the feel of the moments. He makes you feel, and it’s all wonderful.

I love these guys and this series and it’s always a treat to go back and visit. This audiobook didn’t only contain Suspicion but also a couple of novellas set later that year.

A copy of this book was generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review

“Being with someone for a long time changes the way you see the world. It also changes you. Everything from how you act to the way you think shifts in ever-so-slight ways...” ~ Joshua Wolf Shenk, (‘Powers of Two’)

Lucky and Bo, of ‘Suspicion’ by Eden Winters, have been together for a long time now. They have been through some good times and some bad times. Their life has not been boring. As odd as it may seem, each have “tempered” their behavior for the good. They have a clearer understanding of the other’s nature. For example, sometimes Lucky has become less reckless and Bo a bit more adventurous. However, some of their greatest challenges are yet to come.

Lucky’s sister decides to move near Lucky. During the time it takes to relocate, sell the house, etc., she leaves her sons with Lucky and Bo so they can become acquainted with their new surroundings. The youngest nephew has no trouble doing so, but the older one resists the idea. He does not understand why Lucky, who hasn’t been in their lives so far, is so eager to be there now. Lucky is confused by the boy’s attitude and has no idea how to win him over. Fortunately, easygoing, practical Bo is very good at being an uncle. The kids respond well to him for which Lucky is eternally grateful, but it makes him feel even more inadequate. Bo and his sister tell Lucky that his nephew needs time to adjust. Patience is not Lucky’s strong suite, but Lucky does try, even though he doesn’t see how time will help considering his nephew won’t talk to him.

Besides his issues at home, things are difficult at work as well. Lucky’s boss and “savior” who has covered for him so many times in the past, is retiring. Walter calls him into his office to tell him and Lucky is gobsmacked. The idea of Walter not being part of the agency is simply inconceivable. Lucky and Walter have grown to appreciate each other over time even though Lucky has never expressed how he felt about their relationship. As they are speaking, Walter takes a drink of his coffee and collapses. Now Lucky fears that he will never have a chance to do so.

I knew that I liked Lucky before, but I didn’t realize how much until this book. I’ve become so accustomed to him over the length of the series, shaking my head at times at his impatience and mistrust of everything. However, Lucky goes through some dark emotional times in this story that brought me to tears more than once. Fortunately, Eden always finds a way to make all the suffering worth the emotional growth that comes along with it. I’m relatively sure that fans of the ‘Diversion’ series will be as emotionally moved about the book as I have been. Thanks, Eden. I doubt I will ever grow tired of visiting with Bo and Lucky.

I loved this book so much! I didn’t realize how much I missed these guys until I had this latest release in my hands. For those of you who missed it, this is book number seven in a series that features the same main characters in each volume. So obviously, you can’t start reading here, but for all those already devoted to Lucky and Bo, this is exactly the sort of addition that you want this far through a series.

While Lucky and Bo’s relationship isn’t perfect, it’s a solid work in progress and the two men make some huge strides forward in this book. The author thankfully doesn’t rock the love-boat between our guys and focuses the major conflict outside of their relationship. Lucky is working on his adulting, and can be found casting contemplative looks into the empty nursery.

What I loved most about this book was the fact that all of our favourite secondary characters featured front and centre; Walter, Rett, Lisa – Lucky and Bo’s champions at work, and Lucky’s family also played a bigger part in this story. On top of that Keith (the office asshole) and Lucky team up out of desperation as they struggle to prove that all is not right at the SNB and I really enjoyed the new dynamic between them. The enemy of my enemy, and all that. And the most exciting part of all…someone I have been dying to meet for the whole series FINALLY makes a dramatic appearance.

The mystery is great, as usual with this series, someone does end up in hospital. But the mystery is tightly woven around our secondary characters, allowing the relationships between Lucky and all of the people in his life to remain the focus of the story. I especially enjoyed getting a deeper look into the connection between Lucky and Walter, as Lucky realizes just how deeply he loves the man who has been a stand in father for him.

I guess the series could end here but I’m feeling super hopeful that it won’t. I mean, the author has helpfully left a bad guy still on the run, not to mention that nursery is still empty…

Wow, Eden Winters outdid herself with this story in this amazing series. I can't believe that each one is better than the one before. Rich with details of both the characters and the law enforcement dramas/mysteries, I'm always surprised by something coming out of left field to show me that I really don't know what's happening until it's over.

I laugh and I cry and I find it very difficult to put one of these stories down once I start reading. This one has a heartbreaking situation for Lucky, and a wonderful scene with a past character who's very important in his life. Plus his new friend, Rett, some old and new enemies and coworkers (some are both!) and some laugh out loud moments. There's more sex in this book that others in the series as well, as Bo and Lucky squeeze in whatever time they can manage together since they are hosting Lucky's nephews until their mother can move out from Spokane to be with them.

The pharmacy drama is complex and detailed and stunningly nail-biting. The latter parts of the story where all the threads start to come together were super satisfying. I think I recall that there's one more story in this series and if so, I sure would love to attend their wedding and possibly the birth of a child, making them daddies. I'm sure if that happens there will be plenty of hair-raising drama beforehand.

Honestly, I can't begin to express how fantastic this series is. If you are looking for an 8 or 9 book series with characters who go through tremendous growth and change, personally and professionally, and with highly detailed mysteries in the world of pharmacy and all things drug-related (legal and illegal), this one is the one to read.

Oh how I love Lucky and Bo. I mean I love them a lot.
All I can say right now is that this really better not be the last book in this series, although I believe it is. While I'm happy with what I read here, I hope the author at least gives us a novella or something, anything, that allows us to see how the rest of their lives pan out. Especially after that epilogue. I just need to know everything!!!!!
Lucky and Bo will forever be on my list of favorite couples and this series has an iron-clad spot on my favorites shelf.
I can't recommend this series enough.
