This is 4 short stories that are in a bind up together. As a whole the collection gets 2 ☆. However I'm going to do an individual review for each story to give a more accurate take on the collection as a whole.
Holiday Hero:3☆ Very sweet and cute romance with a mystery that had a touch of suspense with no actual fear. The story however did not have alot of Christmas magic. The romance was cute but the relationship wnd was a bit rushed for my taste. The novella felt alittle rushed in all parts which is a common flaw in novellas alot of times.
Rescuing Christmas:1☆ The beginning was intense and interesting but that is unforchanently the only good part of this novella. This quickly became unpleasant to read for a multitude of reasons. For me the Christian religious overtones particular the only way to be a good person is to be a Christian. Then the use of attempted sexual assault as a tool to show how strong Lily is for overcoming trauma. That choice felt disrespectful to victims in particular cause it felt like the use of attempted sexual assault was because the author wanted her to still be a pure good girl and that couldn't happen if she had been sexually assaulted. Add in the theme that anyone who ever made a mistake or lived on the street or committed a crime can't change or become a good person which I found sickening and disgusting. The contrite ending with the insta love came from God bull was deeply unappealing.
Protecting Virginia:4☆ The mystery that was suspenseful with creepy elements that tied into Virgina back story making it feel flushed out. Both Virgina and John were amazing characters I found realistic. The romance was a bit cheesey had a Christmas magic vibe that made it sweet and wholesome. Just an amazing story that I really enjoied.
Guarding Abigail:2☆ This story felt very disjointed in the mystery element and the twist was odd. The relationship between Abigail and Dylan was awkward and had no chemistry or passion. Abigail came off as a cold bitch or a sad pathetic damsel, while Dylan is an aloof jerk. There was no magic or chemistry or Christmas magic.
