A convenient arrangement…or something more?A Women of Lancaster County story
When Ellie Stoltzfus arrives to provide housecleaning and childcare services for her friend’s brother, Reuben Miller, the Amish widower’s reluctant to agree. But, smitten with Reuben’s young son, Ellie’s determined to see the job through. There’s no denying Ellie is good for both father and son, but still-grieving Reuben won’t marry for love again. Can he convince Ellie to be his wife…in name only?
His Suitable Amish Wife is a wonderful story written by Rebecca Kertz in her Women of Lancaster County series. This story is full of love, faith, and forgiveness. The storyline is full of twist and turns not to mention misunderstandings. The author has done a great job telling her story thru her special characters.
Ellie Stoltzfus is a very loving, caring, and helpful Amish young lady. She values her faith which shows through her caring helpful nature. When she oversteps boundries in the story it is all done to lift the burdens of others. Rueben Miller, who has reappeared, is sullen, grieving but loving Amish widow who never intends to marry for love again. The journey they embark upon is anything but normal or loving. They are suddenly reaquainted after years and Rueben is anything but thrilled. I enjoyed both characters and their strong personalities.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached by anyone to post a favorable review. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.
Congratulations to Rebecca Kertz for writing another fantastic story for her readers to enjoy. I look forward to more amazing stories from this author in the future.
A sweet Amish romance book with great character development. I was rooting for the couple to fall in love. I enjoyed the his and hers POV. It helped make the character's more likable. You could see into their head and why they did what they did.
Ellie is a caring and giving woman who cared for others but Reuben did not appreciate help from others. Sweet little Ethan melted Ellie’s heart. It didn’t take long till she fell in love with him. With multiple twists and turns, others in the community coming to assist Reuben when Ellie requested assistance with his property, will he finally be able to let go of his grief? This was a heartwarming story of faith, forgiveness, love and new beginnings.
This was a book I found on our library shelves, thus a review was not required. I have simply shared my own thoughts. It’s nice to pick up a Long Inspired story that is heartwarming and makes you smile when the characters discover love, forgiveness and a new depth of faith in God and their community.
"His Suitable Amish Wife" by Rebecca Kertz is about Reuben who returns to his hometown with his baby son. He buys a run down place for their home. Ellie is an Amish girl who cleans houses for Englishers and is asked by the bishop to stopy by and help since Reuben is living there with his son and sister, being widowed. She helps the young girl do some cleaning. Reuben admits he is looking for a wife, but will not marry for love, just for a mother for his son. Ellie falls for him, but realizes it may be a mistake since he claims he is not looking for love.

This couple just did not click in my mind. She came across as needy and clingy and he was just a angry, emotionally broken male who all of sudden becomes this wonderful guy. I read a lot of these books as brain candy but this one was brain empty. The baby is the reason the book gets two stars.
A strong story about Christian values as a widower comes to their community but does not want to accept help for his family from others. But that's not the Amish way and he is quickly reminded of that.
I really enjoyed the story line and the characters. It was so sweet, especially baby Ethan. I did find the writing to be stiff, which is why only 3 stars.
I just finished reading His Suitable Amish Wife by Rebecca Kertz. Wow I loved it! The characters Ellie and Reuban Miller. Love how Ellie gave her love and support to help him in is his time of grieving and the help he need with his infant son. Charlie. while still doing her house cleaning Business. Even when he was rude and had a hard time excepting help from her and her family. She did not give up. I felt the love and selfless act of kindness in this book.
