Arlene James has written romance for four decades, and has published 100+ novels. A mother of sons and now a happy grandmother to the brightest, most talented, and lovely of all granddaughters, she is finding her sixth decade to be great fun.

She and her very supportive husband of 45 years (whom she agreed to marry on their first date!) enjoy a busy social life and have visited much of the world. After calling Texas home for three decades, they now live in beautiful NW Arkansas.

Arlene grew up on a ranch in south central Oklahoma and still maintains strong ties in that area. She firmly believes that writing has afforded her the best of all possible means of earning a living, and credits a junior high school English teacher with proving to her that her dream of being an author was entirely achievable.

After 4 decades of deadlines and multiple-book contracts (for which she is deeply grateful), she is enjoying the ability to write exactly what she feels led to write on her own schedule.

Another romance story. But light on the intimacy, high on relationships. Which I really appreciate. This story is wrapped in a very heart breaking tragedy. I wish a little more was added to the end about how they got to the reconciliation. You know their hearts of changed but not the total path that got them there.

The last in the Three Brothers Series. Ryder Smith was an MMA fighter that wound up killing a man in a sparring match. He loses the heart to compete anymore and joins his brothers at the Loco Man Ranch. Jeri Bogman is a barrel racer, and a woman on a mission. She wants answers from Ryder Smith, but she isn't letting people know exactly who she is.

This is a sweet romance.

What I liked:
The training and rodeo settings. Jeri as a barrel racer. I felt this part was well written for such a short story. (I looked up short videos of barrel racing, mainly because I've never seen barrel racing before.)

What I didn't like:
The first half of the book, when Jeri is out to provoke Ryder to pove he is on steroids and tries to find out the details of her brother's death. This part didn't feel very natural, making it difficult to relate to the main characters. This did smooth out as the story progressed.
