*Thanks to NetGalley for this title. I read and reviewed this title voluntarily*

This is exactly what it claims to be. A beginners guide to the chakras. It's easy to follow, very informative. It gives exercises and journaling prompts to really help you connect to your seven powerhouses. It even lists a wee bit of history and some personal stories to help you better understand just what your chakras can do. My favorite part was the correspondences for each chakra, those will really come in handy for me! This is the perfect place to start if you're just looking into your chakras. Fully recommend!

“The chakra are not a road but our map, which we all have, and one needs only to learn how to use it to find that elusive personal evolution and spiritual transformation we all crave.” Tori Hartman found a way to write a comprehensive guide to the chakra that is actually an interesting read!

Hartman includes a chapter about each chakra and includes related crystals and stones, related colors, evolution of meaning, modern interpretation, relatable real-life anecdotes, and more. Additionally, she reveals a surprising history of the chakra and includes simple meditations to incorporate into your life. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to learn more about the chakra, energy healing, or meditation.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for allowing me to read this advanced reader’s edition in exchange for an honest review.

If I were to pick one book for my go-to reference on chakras this would be it. "Chakras", by Tori Hartman is a wonderfully written book to give you a deeper understanding of each of your seven chakras points. Each chapter is dedicated to a chakra, with several different references such as color, meanings, organs it is associated with, as well as physical challenges you may be experiencing with each one. I thoroughly enjoyed the meditations created for each chakra, and the personal guidance for journaling, contemplation and chakra exercises the author gives you in each chapter. I now have a better understanding on how to activate each of my seven chakra points, with a renewed sense of personal intuition. Blessings💜

I have been studying the chakra system for a couple of years now and find this book extremely helpful even though I am not a beginner. I especially love this section on the history of the chakras, and also that the author included a story from her own life experience that relates to the lessons of each of the seven chakras. The guided imagery included throughout the book (for each chakra, for all of the chakras, and especially the morning meditation) are spectacular and I will be using them in my own teaching of the chakras as part of the SoulCollage process.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

As promised by the author and publisher, this book is an excellent introductory guide and the language is accessible to beginners- no confusing "woo-woo" banter, I promise. Though the concept of chakras can be difficult to understand with no ability to visually see the chakras, author Hartman explains their locations in detail, how to visualize them, and what physical parts they impact. Next, she gives a breakdown of how to understand, utilize, charge, and calm the chakras, along with tips like what crystals to utilize while working with each specific chakra. Then, Hartman caps each chapter on the chakras with a short example story of how the chakras can influence our lives, even if we don't realize it, and then she provides an guided exercise on ways to get in tune with each specific chakra.

I read through the book without putting any of the tips into practice, so I can't vouch just yet for the effectiveness of this guide book, but as far as the amount of information involved, I can say Hartman has thoroughly explained anything that a beginner might want to know about chakras. I also really enjoyed that in the sections of guided exercises, because she writes as if she's speaking to a yoga class- deep breath here, visualize there- leaving no guesswork as to how to go about utilizing her information. It's conversationally written between sections, and practical for readers who are of the DIY type. I'm hoping to go through the guide again when I have a weekend to myself this winter!

In the final chapters of the reference, Hartman goes over additional ways to center and align all the chakras, and things to keep in mind while going through the spiritual journey. These final notes also summarize the key information the reader should have gained while reading, and provide additional reference materials in case they prefer to deepen their research on chakras. Overall, I'm really pleased with Chakras: Using the Chakras for Emotional, Physical, and Spiritual Well-Being and am glad that I'll be able to reference it for my own spiritual growth, as well as share it's knowledge with others.

Audiobook duration: 3 hours 48 minutes
Narrator: Tori Hartman

I've read multiple chakra books since becoming a yoga teacher and this is the only one that openly explains the history of the chakras. It fully admits that up until the late 1800's, chakras were not what we think of them today, and our modern interpretation of them has a lot to do with Western esoteric trends and the New Age movement of the 1960's-1970's. With that being said, this is definitely a good starter book to learn about the chakras one at a time.

This is a well-written, informative, and comprehensive guide to the seven chakras. I love the correspondences given for each one and the reflections/meditations. There is also history for both traditional Eastern practices and modern Western practices.
Thus far, this is the best beginners guide I have come across. I would even say that it is a handy guidebook for those already versed in chakra practice.

Chakras... detailed introduction of the history, research behind, and guiding crystals and stones relevant to each chakra. Meditations and mental exercises for each chakra are included along with real life examples of blocked chakras and breaking through limitations we place on ourselves. Great reference to provide clarity to the emotions and physical challenges supported by chakras.

I wanted a book that told me what chakras are and the belief behind them. This not only does that but guides you through the 7 and engages you in thought provoking meditation.

It’s about energy. Your connection to God/Higher Power and really being honest with yourself so you can heal and be what you were meant to be.

This is a good basic guide to the modern Western view of chakras, explaining what they are, what they do, how they affect your mental and physical health, and how the reader can access them and use them as aids to well-being. Very helpful psychological insights, I thought.

This is an excellent starter book into the chakras. Biggest take away was the questions it asks to truly see what is going on deep within you. Useful when journaling and giving another perspective to addressing our problems.
Big help this book 👍
