The little human is his perfect mate. She just doesn't know it yet.
When Deza rescues a human female in peril, it's love at first sight and he immediately announces his desire to mate with her. The only problem? Annika refuses to mate with an alien she's only known for five seconds. Not easily deterred, he sets about wooing the adorable little human, eager to win her affections and finally claim her as his mate.
Annika plans to return to Earth ASAP and can't allow herself to develop feelings for the hunky Vaxxlian who saved her life...even if he is the hottest, kindest, and dreamiest alien male she's ever met. Despite her hesitation, his kisses make her melt and his arms are the sweetest refuge. When he makes a heartfelt gesture on Christmas Day to cheer her up, she starts to wonder if maybe, just maybe, mating with Deza isn't the most impulsive idea in the universe...
Sue Mercury writes sci-fi romance. She lives in Maryland with her husband and children, where she hopes one day she'll turn on the television to find a breaking news report about sentient alien beings contacting Earth. She also writes romance of the much kinkier variety under the name Sue Lyndon.

Demasiado corto, no lo disfrute como quería, tal vez continúe con el segundo , porque aun hay muchas cosas que desconozco y me gustaría saber, pero hmm en no me engancho como otras historias de alienígenas.
Annika left Earth in order to find a cure for the illness her sister had but the pilot of the ship she was on got sick, landed on an alien planet and then died. She's been stranded on the planet since then but the aliens have been nice to her for the most part.
Deza is in search of a mate after his planet and most of his people were destroyed by an evil alien race. He and his brother's vowed to find mates and come back to their new world to try and rebuild their people and have families. Humans are compatible with their race so when he learns there's a human on a planet not far away, he goes to see her. He knows right away that he wants her for a mate but all she wants is to go home.
When Annika is out in the woods looking for a tree to chop down for Christmas, she doesn't realize at first that Deza is out there with her making sure she is safe. When a powerful storm quickly rolls in and puts Annika in danger, Deza steps in and helps keep her safe. He knows what he wants but he has to convince Annika that she would be happy with him. When he tells her that he is willing to let her contact her parents from his ship and make the several week journey to take her home to Earth if she is willing to get to know him and give him a chance, she agrees.
Watching them get to know one another was so sweet. Deza is such a big, sexy romantic alien and does whatever it takes to show her that she could be happy with him. I was rooting for them the whole time. The ending really made me smile because it was just perfect. This was a quick novella with just 69 pages but it was full of so much story that I felt like I had just read a longer book.
3 🌟🌟🌟 – A sweet and undemanding read, refreshingly sensitive for the 'alien barbarian' kidnapping trope. Fairly basic prose and limited plot and character development. A nice quick read
Disclaimer I only read this book and the rest of the series to fulfil a challenge as the kidnapped by Aliens trope isn't really a favourite of mine and I don't read too many in the genre, so I'm not particularly disposed to rate books from this sub-genre high.
This is the first instalment from the Vaxxlian Mates series by Sue Mercury. Coming in at only 69 pages, this is the shortest of the three I've read so far and as a result it didn't really have the same level of characterisation and plot development as the follow on books. Added to this it was hampered by the need to introduce the species and universe in which humans and Vaxxlians exist within the series.
Props to the author for not having the male alien (Deza) force his attentions on his mate (Annika) in any way, and that the Deza was prepared to let Annika go once he got her to safety. In my experience with reading this sub-genre, such sensitivity in the male protagonists is rare, so it was refreshing to see it done here.
The writing style is very pedestrian, I was able to finish the book in 3o minutes. If you're looking for a sweet, undemanding alien romance that you probably are unlikely to remember that long after you read it, but will meet a challenge role and engage you for an hour, then this book and the others in the series are probably a good bet.
This was a very cozy romance short with sweet MMC and FMC. The relationship was a bit rushed IMO, and the spice was mostly skimmed over. Writing flowed well and MCs had enough background to help invest in their relationship.
Not really a compelling read. It was simply ok. The romance seemed contrived. I think it might be because the story was so short that it left little time to develop realistic feeling. It might have been different if there some mating instinct driving a quick emotional bond, but this wasn’t part of this short story’s world.
This was more of a boy meets girl, falls in love, and lives happily ever after. The problem with it was the alien seemed to want the woman simply because she’s human and physically compatible. There’s no reason for him to fall in love with her over the course of a few hours, especially if she’s unreceptive to the idea of mating with him. Why not just move on and find another human female?
This is a cute shorter Alien romance. It's more of a dessert kind of tale than rich decadent longer story but it fit what I was looking for.
Annika our heroine from Earth is stranded on a friendly type planet. She's out exploring when a rather strong storm hits and she is rescued by our hero Deza, a warrior from a destroyed planet. He and the surviving people, mostly men, are looking to start over on a different planet. They have learned their race and women from Earth are compatible. When he hears the tale of Annika, he seeks her out and quickly realizes she is his perfect mate.
There isn't a lot of conflict but if you're looking for a sweet Alien tale, this is one I recommend.
Really standard. Nothing that pushes boundaries (a vibrating tongue, though...).
I think regular sci fi romance readers might like this, though I think because it went from meeting to almost instant smut to two weeks later a realisation that there was love there (so all the development was off page), maybe didn't satisfy my personal romance craving.
It's short and I got it for free so I'm not complaining.
Not too bad but too short. I liked Annika as she was very independent. Deza is a man on a mission and once he's found what he wants (Annika) he'd determined to claim her as his mate.
Annikal stranded on a strange planet. Looking to cut down a tree for Christmas. While out she is stuck in a bad storm. She is then rescued by Deza and they share insta love. Has a HEA of course.
Good story.. Short and sweet. Hot amd steamy.. Quick romance read. I enjoy the series and i really like how this authors story flows. How can any woman not swoon at that much love and devotion!!
This is an OK sci-fi alien romance, but it is just a bit too short to have enough character development. There was quite a bit of background on Annika, but I really needed more back story on Deza. It would have really helped me to enjoy the story more.
I also thought it was a bit unlikely that Annika would have fallen for Deza as quickly as she did. She would have been so focused on getting home, that romance would not have even been on her radar. So the romance was pretty unbelievable to me. I also think that the idea of them having sex without protection, when she thought she was heading home was pretty stupid. Neither one of them would have wanted to risk a pregnancy if they thought they might never see each other again.
One thing that really bothers me about all the books in this series, though, is the idea that the Vaxxlians have that it is OK to take a woman against her will. Some of the books even describe Vaxxlian men arriving home with their "mates" kicking and screaming. That doesn't sound like a mate to me -- move like a slave. It doesn't matter how good the woman is treated. If she is there against her will, she is a slave.
If you are looking for a really quick sci-fi alien romance, with some steamy scenes -- and don't mind a lack of character development, this is a good choice.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Molly came to New Vaxx with her friend Bella and her mate Khann. She is feeling guilty because she has been there a month and hasn’t been to the Vaxxlian Matchmakers yet because she doesn’t like the idea of someone else picking out her husband or mate. She is also feeling like a prisoner because it’s not safe for her to go out alone until she is mated. So she sneaks out one night to walk in the forest for some much needed alone time. Unfortunately she is almost attacked by a bear but a Vaxxlian warrior saves her. He takes her home, heals her wounds, feeds her dinner and then returns her to her house before anyone knows she is gone. She tries to get him to see her again but he tells her he doesn’t like her and leaves. She is devastated because she really likes him.
Gavvin is heartbroken that he can’t have Molly as his mate, but he doesn’t want her to live in shame with him. His twin brother was a traitor to the Vaxxlian people and everyone thinks he knew about it but didn’t say anything so they have shunned him. He is still working with his commander and has decode several messages that revealed traitors on their planet. But no one knows that.
Will the truth ever be revealed so these two can be together?
First book in the new series that looks to be a good one!
The story is a quick read and has characters with depth and relates so many complexities that we find in life. Annika is a feisty and strong human on a distant planet trying to get back to earth and when all that she wants appears, in the form of a Vaxxlian named Deza, a Dominant, Alpha, sexy and strong. She misses what is right in front of her. LOL Will he convince Annika that she is his mate? Will Annika accept the truth? The plot is filled suspense, mystery, romance, and lots of HOT, sexy scenes! The characters are well developed and the chemistry between Annika and Deza is electric! The plot holds your attention from page one!! As the suspense and mystery builds, the readers remain captivated and just keep reading and reading…. Through the authors wonderful talent, we are shown how the characters learn about themselves, each other, relationships and that together they grow stronger and can realize a brighter future. Thank you, Sue Lyndon and Sue Mercury for this beautiful, delightful and amazing story!
Annika wants to go home to Earth. She misses her family and friends. She didn’t expect to find a tall handsome alien that was interested in her. Deza is looking for his mate. The Vaxxlain race are few and females are no more. They need to repopulate their world. They know they are compatible with Earth humans. When Deza catches sight of Annika he knows she is the one he has been searching for. But he first has to win her over.
This is such a sweet innocent story. Deza doesn’t know Earths customs and feels it in him that Annika is his mate. Annika feels the pull to him too but she wants to see her family again. She misses them. It’s cute how Annika explains “dating” and “relationships.” He tries so hard you just want to hug him. This is a feel good Christmas story. It will make you smile.
An entertaining read, delightful short story…… This was a thoroughly enjoyable short story that I enjoyed reading from start to finish and Annilka had given up all that she knew and all that she cared for to find a cure for her beloved sister, to find a cure that would heal her. She travelled to a foreign planet where due to the death of her pilot she finds herself stranded however she still continues in her mission to find a cure as she believed she might perish from the storm Deza, an alien who is searching for a human bride, he comes to her assistance and he claims her as his mate, during their relationship she continues to think of healing his sister, when and not if? She returns to earth to help her. I voluntarily received and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
What a amazing book but I do love anything to do with aliens because they all love human females and the more curves the better so I’m in this group lol. Anyway Annika crash lands on the planet Heta’stem and thank god they are a peaceful race and she is given a place to stay but she misses earth and hopes to get home one day. While making the best of it she realises that’s it Christmas Day and want a tree for her room so up into the mountains she goes on her search for a Xmas tree with her ax but she feels she is being watched and when a storm sets in she needs to find cover quickly and that’s when she meets the man from yesterday Deza there to help her take shelter in a cave but that’s not all he wants he wants Annika to be his mate and take her home to New Vaxx to live forever together. How does it all work out read this book to find out.
Annika is a human on a planet far from home. She;s been on this one planet since the ship she came in on landed and the pilot died. She found a job in the bakery which she lives above. Then one day a Vaxxlian named Deza wanders in. He and his brothers are out searching for mates. Their planet had been destroyed. When he hears of a little earther female is on a planet not too far away he goes there. Once he sees her he knows she;s to belong to him as his mate. Annika is out searching for a tree to use to celebrate Christmas. Then a storm races in and Deza is there to rescue her. Now it his hope to try to prove to her that they belong together. I don;t normally sniffle while reading but this book is so darling that a few sniffles crept out. It is a beautiful story that pulls at the heartstrings.

I haven't read a book by Sue Mercury that I haven't liked. I am looking forward to more books about this world.
Deza is searching for his mate. His planet was destroyed and now it is up to the few survivors to rebuild their society. Luckily they are compatible with humans. He is drawn to a world where a human woman, Annika has been stranded. After saving her in a bad storm, he tries to convince her to come back to their new settlement and be his mate. Annika just wants to get back home. Her mission to get medicine didn't work out and now she wants to get back to Earth. Will Deza be able to convince her to stay with him?

This short, sweet story about human female Annika meeting big Alien Deza is a quick but hot and sweet at the same time. Deza has been watching Annika when he gets the chance to help her get through a storm. The couple learn about each other as they are sheltered from the storm and Deza tries his best to reproduce a christmas tree that Annika was in search of when the storm hit. Deza wants to make Annika his mate and after traveling to a human outpost, they find they are compatible and really want each other. Hopefully Deza will get his wish and can take Annika to New Vaxx as his mate. This is the first book in a new series about Vaxxlian Mates and I look forward to more couples finding their forever mates.
As the story started out I was unsure if Christmas was going to be casually mentioned to anchor the story in the time of year, or play an actual role in the story, but it was surprisingly well used as a “family holiday” in a variety of respects. By the end of the story I found myself grateful, not just that this story had taken place at a family holiday in general, but at Christmas because of some of the “details” that holiday involves that others do not.
Annika was a thoughtful, thinking and caring character with a solid rational side, which also made the story work for me.
Clearly the first book in a series, I came out of it hoping I already have others from this series in my kindle library.
This is a really good short story about Alien romance! Annika is left stranded on a planet after leaving earth to find a cure for her ill sister and her pilot dies. Enter Deza, an alien i search of a human bride! She is caught out in a dangerous storm and he comes to her rescue, claiming she is his mate. Since all she wants to do is return to earth, she refuses the connection but all is not lost as it will take time t get her to a point she can return to earth! Romance ensues and we have a story! All in all a good short evening's read

Will he win her as his mate with patience, and love?
A terrific short story of two different beings. One knowing she was his mate and the other just wanting to go back home to her family. With patience, understanding, and constant show of love, he's determined to win her over. She feels guilty accepting his offer to take her home to earth, but she's been trying to get back to earth for a long time. Will his kindness and loving win her over, or will she remain steadfast in her wish to go home? Well I don't do spoilers so if you want to know the sexy details, while they're both trying to have their desires come true, get this delightful story of alien versus human needs.
Both characters were simply developed. Not much story line except for the Vaxxlian enemy. It is a very short story and I fallible the write up straightaway and then am disappointed in the lack of details. One thing I am concerned about is that the cover picture led me to believe that Annika, the female protagonist may be a woman of colour. The writer does mention her 'locks' but not her skin colour. But white people do have locks so I should not have been disappointed. This was an okay read but I am not sure if I will be reading anymore of this author 's books. The blurb will have to really grab me and the book will also have to be more lengthy.

Annika tries to find a cure outside of Earth for her sick sister but ends up stranded on an alien planet. while looking for a tree for Christmas decorations, she meets Deza, who is looking for a mate to take to his planet.
The story is very sweet. although Deza wants to take Annika quickly to his planet to start a family and rebuild it, he patiently waits for her to make up her mind. A good read for the holiday season. if you need a quick and sweet palate cleanser after reading heavy books, you should read this one!✨
