I read this delightful collection of anecdotes and poems as research for a novella I'm writing set in Crooksville, Ohio which is in Perry County. It also appealed to me because I grew up in the Buckeye State. Though I haven't lived there in decades, my ancestral roots are deep in the state's southwestern region (primarily Symmes and Ross Counties).

This is a self indulgent portrait of a rural Perry County, Ohio county. The antidotes might be interesting to those that live in or near the area, it is a pretty superficial history of the county. In the hands of a good editor, it could have been a more enjoyable read for the general public as a snapshot of small town America.
