Its ghost, vampires and censors oh my. A one issue story on searching for a missing dog, that takes a ghostly turn. The main course is a four issue team up of sorts with Vampirella when Cassie & Vlad return home! The final story has the most threatening villain of all.. the Censor! Ye gads!!
Howard has injected some life into this oft failing to deliver franchise. The self effacing humour in regards to her apparel makes Cassie a more likeable character just on the basis she gets that her highly sexualised costuming is ridiculous. It's little additions like this that have breathed life into the volume. 6.5 out of 12 Three Star read.

Very good! So this is the second and last volume of this series, sad to see it go, but it was apparently planned as a 12 issue series. So the main story for this volume has Cassie and Vlad visit a town infested by Vampires, and since it's not their field of expertise, they call on Vampirella for help! To start with what I liked: I loved seeing Vampirella make a return (as this is a direct sequel to Hack Slash vs Vampirella), seeing her interact with Cassie and Vlad is always very funny! The story as well is as excellent as always from this series! I also love the dark comedy this volume has, there were times when I was busting a gut laughing!

Speaking of laughing, issue #12 takes place after the Vampirella arc where Cassie and Vlad's van breaks down, and they go to a town where theirs a slasher who has the powers of comic book censorship! I didn't have a particularly great day today, but coming home and reading that last issue before writing this review definitely made my day way better! I also will take back my comment last volume about the artwork; while it's not the best, it definitely has grown on me these last 6 issues, to the point where I really enjoy the panels and colouring!

Overall, its another fantastic volume for Hack/Slash fans, what more could you want?

I really liked the standalone issues at the beginning and end of this volume [Pooch is my favorite and the comics code stuff was hilarious] but the Vampirella issues in the middle were kind of just okay for me. Still it was a pretty fun volume overall and I would have loved to see Howard do more with this.

Cassie, We Hardly Knew Ya

"Resurrection" is a twelve issue series that brings Cassie and Vlad back to us. Tini Howard was in charge of the project, and I enjoyed it immensely. Volume 1 includes the first six issues, and this Volume 2 has the final six and wraps the series. It was here and gone too quickly.

The setup is that we start with a one issue tale of some demented demonologists. The guest stars in that one are Cat and Dog, with whom I've never been in love and can take or leave. But for one issue they were fine as guests. The heart of the Volume is the next four issues, in which Cassie and Vlad team up with Vampirella and clean up a vampire infested town. Cassie meets up with an old relative of hers, who's also a vampire hunter, and that character steals the last half of the arc with her withering deadpan observations. The final issue is played mostly for laughs and involves a search for a slasher in a town that's too goody-goody, which you would be right to expect sets Cassie off.

Lots of banter, Vampirella is in especially good form with the asides and throwaway lines, and the overall vibe is classic Cassie and Vlad. The art is sometimes sloppy but it's sharp when necessary and never gets in the way of the storytelling. Any particular character can look a bit different from panel to panel, but I always think of these as being driven more by dialogue than character expressions and drawing, so that has never struck me as a problem.

The bottom line for me was that this was a fun way to revisit Cassie and Vlad, and always a happy diversion.

(Please note that I had a chance to read a free ecopy of this book without a review requirement, or any influence regarding review content should I choose to post a review. Apart from that I have no connection at all to either the author or the publisher of this book.)

This is another one I read in individual comics. And just like that it is over. I did not realize Cassie and Vlad's return was just for a limited series. This was another fun ride and it was great seeing Vampirella make another appearance in this series. Now I will have to wait for the crossover with Chaos starting in December. That should be a fun one to read!

Actual rating; 2.5 stars. I still like the art, but I was hoping there'd be a bit more new reader initiation in this volume. No such luck. If anything, it's even worse because Cassie and Vlad seem to be taking a road trip through previously visited locations and no backstory/reference is given for them. Also, male-gazyness is still there but it's mostly focused on Vampirella. So that's better? Right? Um, I think I'll leave the series off here.

I'm not quite into this newest version of Hack/Slash. The art is sexy as always, but the stories don't pack the punch of the prior comics. There's always been comedy in the series but it seems like now the comedy is the main point of the stories and it's just not working. That being said, it's not terrible and this is a very original series, so it was still fun.

Loved this awesome graphic novel. Excellent stories with my fav duo including appearances by lovable Pooch and Cat. Awesome story arc featuring Cassie, Vlad and Vampirella. Great dialogue, plots and art. Very highly recommended.

Slightly better than the previous volume. At least this volume was slightly entertaining. I don't know why I am still having such high expectations when I start reading a Hack/Slash volume.
