The kingdom is at war, and Clef struggles to save and care for the countless wounded. When the enemy abruptly breaks through in the dead of night, determined to slaughter all the clerics and their patients in order to cripple and demoralize the army, Clef faces certain death—until he's saved at the last moment by a powerful, intriguing soldier who is gone nearly as suddenly as he arrived. Given the nature of war, Clef never expects to see him again.

Several weeks later, however, he is summoned to save the life of a general who's just turned the tide of the war for them—a general who looks familiar, and whom Clef might finally get to thank, if he can keep the man alive.

I liked the idea of this one, and I liked the bones of the story but something didn’t fully work for me. I think it needed to be longer as I didn’t really feel the connection between the two guys.
