Kenzie and Hunter are as unalike as it is possible to be. Whenever they're together, sparks and fists fly. Hunter has an attitude problem, Kenzie has a snobbery problem. But when a contract forces them to work together, sparks of a whole different sort start to fly backstage.

Kenzie and Hunter, of ‘Exit Strategy’ by May Ridge, meet at a talent show competition and it is “hate at first sight”. Everything the other does drives them crazy. Kenzie thinks that Hunter is a smart aleck and Hunter thinks Kenzie is stuck up. During the entire competition they avoid each other, until the judges decide that putting them together would be good for ratings. Neither young man is thrilled about it, but they make the best of it in order to win.
When presented with a contract, they can’t refuse and Kenzie and Hunter begin a tour together. Neither is sure about the other and they constantly try to upstage each other to see how much irritation they can cause. Kenzie can’t stand the way Hunter talks or acts because he considers it unprofessional. Inexplicably, he is jealous of the attention Hunter pays the to girls on the tour. When Hunter sees how it affects Kenzie, he goes out of his way to do it more. Hunter starts to kiss Kenzie, just to try to get a reaction from him, then smirks at him when he does. This only makes Kenzie angry because he knows that Hunter is just playing around. During the rest of the tour, they go back and forth between hating each other and becoming more intimately involved. Neither seem to want to think the other is serious even if they are. When they are offered a contract for a tour together, Kenzie isn’t sure that is what he wants; he admits that he prefers to be a solo act. Hunter is devastated because Kenzie never mentioned that before and withdraws. Kenzie is baffled by how hard Hunter is taking this, but he is not certain what to do to fix it. It seems as if the spark between them will never get to fully ignite.
This is an enemies-to-friends, opposites attract story with lots of angst. Both characters need a major attitude adjustment. There’s lots of sexual tension between Kenzie and Hunter along with a lot of miscommunication with each other and within themselves. In spite of it all, I liked both guys and was rooting for them to get their act together and acknowledge what was right in front of them. Thanks, May, for an enjoyable read.
