I am enjoying this series greatly although I will never view pixies and fairies the same way again. I admire the way the author has woven the story together. Of course this wouldn’t be a review from me if I didn’t complain about the typos!
PD Workman has another hit series on her hands. This may be more light heart-ed reading than her other books but she still manages to enmesh you in he story.
Black Sands community is confusing. Think you know about magical worlds, well guess again. I am having a hard figuring it out. I feel like i need pencil and paper by my side as I read so I can keep track of all the magical creatures and all the rules. Who likes cats, who doesn't. What is a fairy, pixie (piksy), warlock, coven.,etc., I can keep going on. At least i gt to learn new words.
Also what happened to Reg doubting her psychic abilities? Thinking that she was just a very careful observer and used that. She seems to have accepted her abilities? Have to keep reading the series just to get is straight.
If I get the ending correctly then I have to say I get it but another part of me say :YUCK! You will have to read it and draw your own conclusion.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC copy.
I received an ARC from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion. I am really enjoying the Reg Rawlins series. The antics of Reg and her psychic cat are always delightful. I mean, who doesn't like magical creatures, witches (both good and bad, even though Sarah says there's no such thing as a bad witch), a psychic cat (as I mentioned) and a warlock who can't be good no matter how hard he tries? Definitely a winning combination. However, I had a little problem with this book. The first story was definitely a stand-alone even though portions of it carried over into this book and I hope the same will be true for the next one. My problem was that this time the story didn't feel complete. It doesn't end on a cliffhanger by any means, but I felt a bit cheated at the end. There were as many unanswered questions as there were answered ones when I turned the last page. I'm sure Ms. Workman will come through and tie everything up in the next story. I just wish she had done a little more of that here. All in all, though, I highly recommend the series and think you will enjoy it.
Terrific. À plot that centers on the divides between pixies and fairies and changlings. A kidnapped girl leads them a merry chase but there is a surprise at the end. Loved the way the characters are changing ad the way her powers are evolving but it would be great to find out more about her birth parents. Did the fairy blade cut react that way to just her or would it have been the same or anyone with magical powers. Also would be a terrific pan to get her really communicating with her cat, Starlight. When a teenage girl is reported missing, she is asked to assist. However there are just a few problems. The cut she received from the fairy blade won't heal ad Corvin is also involved in the case. Pixies, changlings and fairies are all woven into a plot that spirals from the normal world to the supernatural and then the shadow dimension. Can they find the girl? Will her cut ever heal? What will happen between Corvin and her?
This is another fun mystery with Reg Rawlins and her cat, Starlight. A girl has gone missing from her bedroom and Detective Marta Jessup asks Reg to use her considerable psychic ability to help find her. Reg can connect with Calliopia and believes she is being held against her will. In a town like Black Sands, with so many citizens possessing magical or paranormal skills, finding the girl and catching the perpetrators will take all of Reg's skills and help from Starlight.
You can’t go wrong with adventure, suspense, mystery, and paranormals – it’s all there in this book! This was a fun read. The characters are likeable and the plot has some good twists. I received a free copy but my review is voluntary.
“A Psychic with Catitude by P.D. Workman is the first book I have read by this author. I enjoyed the book but I wish I had read the first book in the series, it seems like this book picks up where the first book ends. Even with that being said this book can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters it is a quick quirky read. I enjoyed learning about the Black Sand Community, fairies, pixies, witches, a warlock and we can’t forget the Psychic cat. This has many twists and turns that will keep you guessing and turning the pages. The end leaves an opening for another book that hopefully will tie everything up. Very well written. Thank you GoodReads for introducing me to this author.
This is the second book of this series. If you haven’t read the first book, you will want to. The story picks up right where book one ends, and takes off on a fast paced ride. Reg Rawlins is learning more about her gifts, and those of the residents of the magical town of Black Sands, as she helps the police with a missing persons case.
I really got caught up in the characters and the storyline, hating to put the book down till I knew more! While the “case” was resolved, there are aspects which are a lead-in to the next in the series. Now I’m eager for book three!
Note: I did receive this book for free in a giveaway, and this is my honest opinion.
This is the second book in the series and it takes up exactly where the first book ended. You get to learn about new paranormal races and more about the rules that everyone seems to know and understand, except Reg. There are lots of twists and turns in this story and you just want to keep reading. I admit that I read past my bedtime last night. I really don't understand why they want Reg's help, but don't explain things to her. For example: the police ask her to be a consultant on a case, but don't explain what paranormal races are involved. But it was a good story and I am happily on my way to the next book.
Reg knew she needs to move on and arriving in Florida seemed like a good place to work her scam. Reg had people believing she could talk to dead people. Only strange things start happening after she brings her cat home from the pound and meets Warren Blake her land lady warns her about him. Now she finds she has powers she no idea about this is a great book it was great seeing Reg get her story
My eighth read from author P.D. Workman and the second in her new series Reg Rawlins, Psychic Detective. Extremely well written as are all of P.D. Workman’s books, the characters well developed. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make a reader get invested into the characters and thereby the book. I look forward to P.D. Workman’s next book. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
This is the second book in the Reg Rawlins series, as with the first it's a cute quirky read. This time around Reg is tasked with helping find a missing fairy teenager. I enjoyed how not only did we get a further look into this little magical community we also get to see a few different relationships being developed. There were enough references to the first book that I would recommend reading them in order otherwise there will be things you don't understand.
Think I would have enjoyed more had a read the first book, took a long time to figure out who Reg was and why she was in Florida. It might have helped had there been a bit more back story on the characters and their special powers and why everyone in town had different powers. Story was ok, but jumped around a bit and without the back story really hard to figure out what was going on and who was who.
I've been realizing that cozy mystery books are the way to go when you're in a reading slump! I really enjoy this one. The first book didn't include many details about Starlight but this book filled that void. I also liked the lore behind the magical races introduced in this book. I'm not sure about the will-they-won't-they thing going on between Reg and Corvin. So far he's irredeemable and while I understand, I hate him so much.
This was the first book of P.D. Workman 's that I have read and I was thoroughly charmed by the subject matter as well as the characters. I have to say that Starlight is my favorite cat detective! I was fascinated by the plot as well as my introduction to pixies, fairies and everything in-between. This was a great afternoon read!
A very unique style of writing in the paranormal genre P.D. Workman gives more than a single mystery and lieves more intreage along the way and into the final pages with caracters of most known fables Reg doesn't guite know if things have really been resolved. Maybe you can figure it out. Kat
Well Workman strikes a home run again with "A Psychic with Catitude". I enjoyed this one. Reg is starting to come more into her own. It will be interesting to see how things unfold in the next book. And I do love cliffhangers. Anyone who likes a little fantasy with their mystery. P.D. Workman isa my Use read author. Great job. Looking forward to the next as usual. Cheers Lynn🇨🇦
I won this ebook in the Goodreads Sweepstakes earlier this year. This would be a good book for a young adult because it's about Reg Rawlins who is a Psychic Investigator with her own personal issues with her health and a furry psychic partner that's a cat with an attitude. This story had fairies, pixies and an overly interested warlock helping with a kidnapping.
Reg is asked to find a kidnapped girl. She finds her but doesn't know where she is. She learns the missing girl is a fairy and the fairies come to her aid at a party. She tries to learn about the different magical species in her area. She's still unsure about her abilities.
This was a strange story involving the conflict with fairies and pixies and the stealing of their children. There is lots of conflict, arguing, psychic connections, and a fairy blade anointed with fairy blood. The plot is easily followed and the premise is finding a stolen fairy, and returning her to her family. I do recommend this book.
A light and fun book with a variety of paranormal characters. There was a lot of imagination used in creating the various entities and scenarios in the book.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review this book - appreciate it.
On the surface, this is about a missing person case, a young woman who disappeared from her bedroom in the middle of the night. The story is more complex, and brings in 2 new races of magical beings.
What a story! Reg is a quirky character that you just know you should disapprove of but you can't help but like. An action packed adventure that has a ton of twists and turns and an ending that really leaves you guessing. Great!
This is the second book I've read in this series and I enjoyed them both. I'm not big on fantasy stuff but I have though my enjoyed this series and will eagerly await the next book. I love almost everything P. D. Workman writes.
Reg is a psychic in Black Sands and has a connection to Callie, a fairy who is gone missing. The detective on the case asks Reg to consult on the case. Things are never normal when fairies, pixies, warlocks, and psychics are involved.
A physic just finding her powers and abilities would be interesting but add to the mix, fairies, pixies, warlocks, witches, a familiar , cops with abilities and other paranormal beings and you have a very unusual town! Not boring ever.
This book has a single problem: I am now so hooked that I forget to eat or sleep or do housework. Workman does an excellent job of suspending her author's disbelief. BRAVO!
