Gave 2 stars because it's factually accurate--otherwise would have given one. The text takes a field I'm passionate about and reduces it to an unnecessary slog through undefined terms and relationships. I can't remember the last time I ran into a technical text without a glossary, but this is one (and it has an incomplete index). Heading structure also has shaky levels of hierarchy, making it difficult to follow which concepts belong together.

I came in to the class using this text with no little amount of pre-existing knowledge of neurological anatomy and physiology, yet I was having such a hard time getting myself through this text that I went and looked up which Neuro texts are used in other courses. I then rented a second text for the class.

Clarity of structure, defined terms, succinct internal headings, and readable diagrams placed near their textual references would go a long way to improving the usability of the text, but the most glaring needs are for a glossary and a complete index.
