No longer available Olivia’s perfect life fell apart in an instant. Now she’s left to pick up the pieces and move on, but that’s easier said than done when the image of her long-time boyfriend in the arms of another woman is so fresh in her mind. Brian Anderson thought he knew what the future would bring – until he was betrayed, both by the woman he loved and the man he looked up to like a father. On a personal quest to right the wrongs done, the last thing he’s looking for is a serious relationship.
That is, if life wasn’t so full of unexpected surprises.
Heartbroken and distraught, Olivia’s sworn off love for good. But a chance encounter with Brian, the man her heart never forgot, sends her life into an emotional whirlwind. Now the 28-year-old doctor is faced with a choice: take another chance on love or walk away never knowing what could have been…
Note to readers: This (free) novella is a complimentary prequel to Falling Home. You do not need to read it to enjoy the next instalment. It’s simply an extra I wrote for those of you who want to know Olivia a little better. Also, for everyone who would like to get a feel of the storyline and the characters. While Falling Home is entirely told through Brian’s eyes, Before Dawn introduces you to Olivia’s world before her return to London and revisits the day she meets Brian again, ten years after their story was left unfinished. Some passages will be found in both books.
I am a new Ana Simons reader and now one of her biggest fans. Although historical romance is usually my favorite I absolutely loved this book!!! Ana's writing grabs you from the first sentence and it is very difficult to stop for mundane things like peeing, eating, sleeping and the like. Her characters are real people who live and love and hurt each other and themselves but sometimes actually come out stronger and maybe sometimes better people. I truly can not wait until the next book in this series as I so loved the first one.
I was given an advanced copy of this book and have since added a new author to my list of favorites. I find Ana’s whimsical writing style endearing, especially when children are involved. All of her characters are interesting and her entertaining plot held my attention throughout. I look forward to reading more from Ana.
Good book, different from the other romance genre books I typically read but different in a refreshing way. I definitely will be reading more from Ana Simons. I am voluntarily leaving this voluntary review, but for full disclosure I did receive an advanced review copy, ARC, of this book.
As life would have it, I read Free Falling (this story told entirely from the male POV), before reading Before Dawn. FF is the full story of how Brian Anderson and Dr. Olivia Burke meet up again after many years, Brian learns what happened to cause Olivia disappear so long ago, and they begin anew. BD is only an abbreviated version of the same story from Olivia's POV. Except that it stops abruptly, having given only a taste of Olivia's inner workings. The dialogue is phenomenal and you really get the feel for characters. I'm just totally NOT a fan of dividing things out into having readers purchase so many books to get one story.
I've just finished Before Dawn today 😍😘😍 and as per previous reads of Ana's masterpieces, I love the extensive details and emotions. However, I don't understand the 'to be continued soon' at the end of the book though... will there be a Part 2?
I read this prequel before reading the full story, at times I got a little lost mostly on who all the secondary characters were. However I loved the main characters, and the storyline was phenomenal. With a lost chance of love, and a reuniting of the main characters, you are given a glimpse into their story. Looking forward to reading the rest of their story for sure!
I really enjoyed reading Whispering Heart, can't wait to read the rest of the story. I really enjoyed how it went back and forth between characters. Very good! Definitely a must read!
Great intro to a great story. Loved the characters and the atmosphere. Nice to learn how Olivia thinks and feels, what her life looked like before she met Brian again.
I enjoyed this story a lot, but felt that some of it was quite disjointed (unintentionally) and it would benefit from additional editing. The writing style overall is lovely, and a great change from the usual.
