The second freeze is well underway. Depending on one’s point of view the world is a winter wonderland, or a wintry hell. In tiny Plainview, Frank and Josie prepare for their escape from the Dykes clan. At the former prison in Eden, Marty and the others grieve. They’ve lost three of their best men to marauders and suicide. Marty reluctantly accepts a position as Eden’s new security chief. It’s up to him now to make sure they’re not overrun a second time. At Joint Base Lackland in San Antonio the base populace takes sides. Hardliners consider their two “rogue” colonels guilty of mutiny and want them put to death. Most others disagree, and a young captain named Wright tries his best to save them from the firing squad.
Disappointing with a capital D. What happened to the writer? I have read all 15 of this series and the disappointing thing about this one, as opposed to the first several, was the almost total lack of story content. We were subjected to several pages of why MG Stephens is a good general as opposed to a bad one and then on and on about his parking place stripes, office chairs and conference room chairs. Then we had pages of why the baby deer should have been called DoeDoe rather than DoDo. Meanwhile, it seems that poor old Frank is never going to get back to safety and Marty in the prison seems to have sort of flipped out for a while. This will be my last in this series. Can't imagine, at this pace, how long just the opening arguments in the Court Martial will last. Sorry Darrell.
While The author is a great writer and and has some amazing book and does an amazing job writing them. I’m finding this book series has so much filler in it, there’s a lot of information that is nice and useful but unnecessary and it draws everything out and in the end there’s really nothing that furthers the series and the lives of the characters. I’ve really enjoyed this series but finding it hard to read the series. Again as I have said the author is an amazing author and does a fantastic job writing and while this is only my opinion I do feel he’s a good writer and will continue to read his books.
The saga continues. Will the people in Salt Mountain ever see the light of day? Will the two Air Force colonels be convicted and executed? Will Frank and Josie escape from the warehouse?
Glenna's husbands name was Steve (or Steven). Steve was alive and they were together when Saris 7 impacted and when the prisoners overtook Eden. Steve and Glenna were taken hostage by one of the worst. They had two kids, a boy and a girl that played a prominent role in Glenna's abuse by John Castro and were actually also abused by him. I think they were both like 8-12ish when Marty freed Eden and them from Castro's reign of terror and abuse. Steve was killed during that time.
Marty and Frank designed the security of the prison. Richard was in charge of starting, training and running the militia and in part, security. More importantly, for several books, Marty was the Sheriff!!
Furthermore, John (Sami's dad) who died in the helicopter crash was the one who started the security of the mine prior to Saris 7. While definitely important, and in charge prior to going missing, Frank Woodard did not even join the compound group until AFTER the thaw from Saris 7.
I love the characters in your books. You have the knack to keep them all separate and easy to remember the relationships between them. I can’t wait to see what happens next with Frank and Josie, and Mark, Hannah and Little Markie.
