Chris Rock is about a comic's life as a child to becoming a Comedian. This is an autobiography about the life of Chris Rock. One main character in this book obviously is Chris Rock. He was born on February 7 19666 in south Carolina. In '72 he moves to Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn. He also has experience of the civil rights struggle and segregation. He heard M.L.K. speak his speech I Have A Dream and he was one of the people who witnessed what happen to him after it. This book takes place in NYC mostly in Brooklyn and Manhattan from where Chris grew up in. An external conflict in this book is Chris sees that Martin Luther King is being arrested for saying his speeches and leading civil rights marches. He doesn't do anything about it. He is a bystander in this conflict. The plot of this story is Chris Rock being 1 of thousands of black Americans trying their best to achieve their goals during the hard times. An internal conflict in this story is outside his window Chris sees a little child skidding down the street due to a firehouse that sprayed him. He thought the child was dead because he didn't move. He was right. He also saw other African Americans being sprayed by white men and some of their clothes even came off. They were utterly humiliated. This made Chris very angry and sad at the same time in his stomach. He didn't know what to do but stand there and watch in his apartment. I can make a Text to world connection about this. The events of what happen in this book happened in real life. All of the horrors said in this book about how blacks were treated happened back then. It still happens today but not as bad as it was in the segregation era. I give this book 5 stars because this book shows how blacks were treated in segregation and what that had to go through to achieve their accomplishments. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys either a good read or would like to learn about the history and culture of African Americans especially Chris Rock.

i actually found this book during math class in Ms.jaffe's room. This book let me to know a lot more about one of my favorite comedian and his hardships that he gone though to become who he is now. There are a lot of people who dislike Chris Rock because of his use of lanauage but people just don't understand that his use of lanauage is what make him who he is. This book taught me something about identity and even in biographies, we can look for liteary elements.

I had forgotten Chris Rock started on Saturday Night Live, the best comedians can start out there and hone their skills.
