CONSISTENCY AND AUTHORITY - Slow and steady wins the race. Authority is earned by consistently conveying your message over time. To truly learn and establish yourself as credible, write down everything you want to teach or explain, and simplify complex topics for others to understand. Consider publishing this knowledge as a free book - it’s a powerful way to build trust and offer value. Plan your content for the entire year in advance and stick to your schedule. Whatever strategy or timeline you create, maintain it strictly. Authority grows from showing up regularly and passionately.
BEING RELATABLE AND UNIQUE - To connect deeply with people, you need to be authentic and relatable. If your lifestyle or message feels too unattainable (luxury, travel, perfection), many won’t see themselves in you. People relate to struggles and human imperfections, so create content that speaks to common problems authentically, such as "Have you ever been so ashamed you couldn’t control yourself?" Use thumbnails and captions that reflect this relatability, ensuring your visuals immediately communicate the core idea. Engaging humor and a casual tone make people feel closer to you and more comfortable commenting or reaching out. Don’t try to please everyone - being authentic means some won’t like you, but others will love you.
HEADLINES AND ENGAGEMENT - A good title is more impactful than the content itself. Use numerical headlines, promises, or direct questions: "18 ways to completely transform X" or "How to master Y in just 24 hours." Titles like "Do you want to...?" automatically invite a "yes" response. People love options, so offer multiple solutions: "3 ways to do X." If you promise something is free, make sure it’s truly free - people are drawn to no-cost value. When teasing upcoming content, give sneak peeks a few days in advance to build anticipation. Keep your thumbnail and text aligned with your promise, and don’t hesitate to pair emotional language with capitalized attention-grabbing captions.
RELATIONSHIP BUILDING - Your community is at the heart of your content. To make them feel included, incorporate them into your videos with images or references - this creates a personal connection. Thank your followers regularly and engage deeply with their comments. If you truly listen to your community and evolve with them, you’ll always stay relevant. Adapt to what’s new in their world - be curious about their challenges, trends, and interests. Treat them like trusted friends. As Tauri reminds, treat your followers like family, and they’ll treat you the same.
STUDYING AND STANDING OUT - Study your competitors closely to see what works, what doesn’t, and how you can differentiate. Use humor and an approachable style if it suits your personality, but always aim to be yourself. Authenticity is irreplaceable. The world will want to shape you into something you’re not, but staying true to yourself is key. Evergreen content is also invaluable - it keeps working for you long after its release, especially if you’re creating content that resonates with families or children.
COMMUNITY ADAPTATION AND LONG-TERM VALUE - Change with your audience as their needs evolve. When something new emerges in your niche, stay ahead of it to remain the authority your followers rely on. Don’t just send emails about new videos; make newsletters or pair content with similar blog posts to become your audience’s go-to resource. Build relationships with sneak peeks, previews, or behind-the-scenes content that fosters anticipation. Never sacrifice your authenticity - you don’t need to please everyone, and trying is exhausting. Focus on the ones who truly connect with you and love your unique perspective. They’re the reason you create.
COMMUNITY BUILDING AND SAFETY - Creating boundaries for your group is essential for fostering a sense of belonging and connection. Build a safe environment where members feel comfortable sharing without fear of judgment or mockery. Emphasize that being open and discussing struggles helps others feel less alone and contributes positively to the world. Consider adding an anonymous section where members can share their worries or problems discreetly - this can encourage greater honesty and openness. Publicly promote a hashtag like #AskTauri and regularly scan it for questions to answer, creating a sense of exclusivity and belonging among those who use it. Celebrate the diversity of opinions in the group - acknowledge and respect differing viewpoints, as a community where everyone thinks the same would be dull. When someone in your community makes an effort or achieves something significant, give them a public shout-out in your content to motivate and inspire others.
FOCUSING ON YOUR AUDIENCE - Understand your target audience deeply. Writing for highly successful individuals might not resonate as much as addressing people who are struggling and need guidance. Tailor your content to the needs and problems of your followers. This approach builds trust and relatability. If your audience feels like you're truly there for them, they'll stay loyal. Talk about topics that matter to them, not just your preferred subjects, and create space for their feedback and contributions. When interviewing guests, choose individuals who’ve experienced the same struggles as your audience to teach them how to move forward.
ENGAGEMENT AND PARTICIPATION - Regularity is crucial. If your followers visit your page and find no updates, you risk losing their interest. Train them to expect consistent posts - you set the rhythm of their engagement. Celebrate milestones with your community, whether it's hitting a subscriber count or achieving a special milestone together. Use these moments to strengthen the bond within your group. Regular emails are most effective when sent on the weekend when people have more time. Write them as if you’re addressing a friend, keeping the tone personal and intimate.
INTERACTING MEANINGFULLY - Your role isn’t being a leader but part of the group. Give your community a name - something meaningful that reflects their identity and yours, creating a sense of exclusivity while you stay a quiet decision-maker behind the scenes. Regularly acknowledge your audience’s passion and make them feel like they’re contributors to your journey. If you collaborate with other creators or communities, offer value, such as free video content or guest blog opportunities, to build bridges and expand your reach.
TELLING STORIES AND SOLVING PROBLEMS - Use storytelling to agitate the problem and grab attention. Start with a relatable or controversial statement, such as "Many of my friends have tried for years and failed, and I don’t blame them," or "Lots of people want to achieve X but don’t know where to start - without a plan, it’s impossible." These quotes highlight the struggle and encourage viewers to stay for the solution. Study your biggest competitors and learn from the topics that are most shared on their platforms - these goldmine themes show what engages their audience and likely yours too. Visual elements, such as provocative or emotionally charged pictures, also help grab attention.
CELEBRATING COMMUNITY AND COLLABORATION - Communities thrive on shared purpose and celebration. When group milestones or achievements occur, make sure to acknowledge and celebrate together. For instance, when you hit a significant follower count, ask your community how you should celebrate or simply create something fun to share the excitement. Collaborate with others, but make it mutually beneficial. When guest blogging, for example, ensure your contribution provides measurable value to the host while showcasing your expertise. By being both a leader and a friend, you can build something your group is proud to share and be part of.
