Nick and Grant are Comanche twins, raised by their grandmother after their mother abandoned them. Grant rejected their Comanche heritage, moving to LA where he became a successful businessman and married the beautiful Elaina. Nick stayed closer to his roots, but was never able to get over their mother's betrayal enough to get into a serious relationship. When Grant is gunned down by a group of teenagers, his dying request is that Nick adhere to the old ways and marry Elaina. Nick, who blames himself for his brother's death and is uneasy at the thought of marrying his brother's wife, waits two years before inviting Elaina and her troubled daughter Lexie to his cabin for a vacation, where he intends on proposing to her even though they're virtually strangers.

This was a decent, well-written love story. Elaina doesn't think she's capable of falling in love again and feels guilty about being attracted to Nick. Nick, who has always been a bachelor and never been serious with a woman, initially offers her only kindness and respect, warning her that they won't be in love. After their steamy honeymoon night, they agree to get to know each other. Elaina for the first time learns that Nick and Grant were abandoned and finally understands her former husband's refusal to acknowledge his roots. She also shares her own alienated childhood with Nick, something she never told Grant.

I wasn't too fond of Lexie, Elaina's troubled daughter. I'm not too fond of girls of that age to begin with, but even less so in romance novels. They steal too much of the heroine's thunder, and it was painful for me to watch Lexie recovering her spirits so fast thanks to Nick, when her mother had been trying so hard to help her.

I give it 3 stars mainly because it wasn't really riveting for me. Elaina was a relatively well-adjusted adult. Nick had a few issues, but no major scars. He got closer to Elaina and Lexie, but I can't say it was poignant or truly heartwarming the way it might have been if he'd been reunited with his estranged mother. However, it was a solid and enjoyable book, well-written and without any scenes that made me grit my teeth.

This is one of those feel good, warm and fuzzy type of romances. There wasn't a lot of outside conflict as the focus was completely on Nick and Elaina's budding relationship and their feelings of being married to your in-law. The whole premise worked, though, as the author included the Comanche culture, which I found fascinating. If you need a break from your regular reads, delve into the tried and true formula of a gently-building romance that's a little spicy, this one's for you. 3.5 stars.

Loved this book, 'Comanche Vow'. Wonderful to see a man honouring his vow to support and care for his twin brother's wife and daughter. A developmental love story which brings great joy to this new family.

This book was okay, but I have an aversion to sibling double-dipping so that was an issue for me.

I love this story. thanks Sheri Whitefeather ...

Nick is a rather interesting man, who has embraced a great deal of his heritage as a Native American. He is also a twin. His twin brother Gabe was married to Elaina and after Gabe was killed Nick struggled with his promise to his brother to take care of his wife and young daughter in the Comanche way.

Nick struggled with guilt, attraction and a pretty darn awesome bit of humor and a love of teaching students his traditional craft.

it was a good story but so short that we didnt get to experience a huge amount of connection with the characters or real conflict.
