From an award-winning author with more than one million books sold, a new series of four heartwarming historical romances about four adopted sisters who find their match. Note: each book can be read as a stand-alone.
Flora Kinsley has always been a red-headed rebel who delights to ride madly across the country. After being orphaned at age four, she has always had an insatiable desire to run. But when her wild riding leads her into trouble, she finds herself lost and stranded in a snowstorm. She takes shelter in the home of a bachelor rancher.
Kade Thomas has lost enough loved ones because of foolish choices and risky behavior. The last thing he needs is to be involved with a wild rebel. But being stranded unchaperoned with Flora for two nights gives her preacher father plenty of reason to insist they marry. Knowing that if he forces Flora into marriage against her wishes, it would make for a miserable situation, he begs for a chance to persuade Flora she wants to marry him.
Will this pair find that love is awaiting them? Or will the truth destroy any chance of love?

Linda Ford grew up devouring books and making up stories in her head—often late at night when she couldn't sleep. But she hadn't planned to write. Instead, she dreamed of running an orphanage. In a way, that dream came true. She married, had four homemade children, adopted ten and lived (at times, endured) the dream.
Writing first took her to non-fiction human-interest articles for newspapers and eventually a non-fiction book about tuberculosis set in the 1930s and 1940s (Touched By The White Plague). But romance had always been her first love and she turned to writing love stories. She is multi-published in the CBA market.
She lives on a small ranch in Alberta, Canada, where she can see the mountains every day. She and her husband continue to enjoy their children and grandchildren.
Flora Kinsley needs to feel free. She has difficulty dealing with the loss of her parents even thought many years have passed. Will that feeling never go away? Riding her horse in the Montana wilderness is usually relaxing, but this time things don’t go as planned. A snowstorm catches her by surprise and now she’s lost. The good news is that she finds shelter at Kade’s homestead. The bad news is that she is forced to stay with him overnight. Now her reputation is tarnished and her father, the preacher, is forcing her and Kade to marry. What are they to do? Flora is an interesting character. She lost her parents as a child and it turned her into a strong and determined woman. She and Kade clash. He thinks she’s reckless and she thinks that he’s to cautious. I enjoyed seeing them really get to really know each other as they wait out the snow storm. I liked Flora and Kade. I connected with them. They are good, honest people. The story is well written and filled with true and honest emotions. The dialogue is realistic. I was pulled into this sweet romance. Linda Ford has a writing style that is easy to read. Loving a Rebel made me feel good.
This book made me want to be the free-spirited Flora Kinsley. Linda Ford writes a contemporary historical novel involving preacher’s daughters and their personalities. This book shows a woman with fiery red hair who knows her own mind. Being judged by Kade, someone who has lost a lot in his life because of risk taking, makes her want to be freer.
This book is an ARC from Hidden Gems that I received and am voluntarily giving my honest review.
To avoid succumbing to a winter storm, Flora Kinsley and Kade Thomas are forced to spend two whole days alone together in Kade's small dwelling. The year is 1884, and Flora's dad is a strict preacher, who she knows will not take kindly to the circumstances. With her honor and reputation at stake, will Flora's rebel heart be forced into a marriage she does not want, or will Kade be able to convince either of the two stubborn Kinsleys into an amicable arrangement?
This is a short, clean romance that hits the nail on the head in regards to a person of Flora's personality--simply that forcing her to do something will only lead to rebellion and hardship. I've always appreciated a well-done story about two characters who are thrust into a relationship or marriage and have to learn how to make it work. That isn't quite how this story plays out, but it was still a good read.
From early in the book, as Flora and Kade spend their two days together, it is clear that they are both completely different in the taking-risks department. Yet, they begin to learn from each other and minds and hearts are eventually changed. I really appreciated the depth we delve into the reasons behind why both of these characters are how they are, which I wouldn't have expected in such a short space. One thing that bothered me, though, is just how stubborn everyone in this book is. No one is willing to bend when it seems like they have no reason to be so firm. The preacher annoyed me in particular, given the way he acted toward Kade even way past the point when he had any reason to treat him that way.
There is one particular character who seemed a bit over-the-top, which I think is because I sensed his inclusion as a simple plot-driver more than I normally would. In the end, though, I was a little amused by him, which is pretty strange, given how he acted in the book. There's a large part of me that would like to hear more about him in the future--perhaps a change in perspective, maybe even a conversion.
There are points in the book that felt way too modern to me, given the time period. Overall, though, I enjoyed the story. It is the beginning of a series, which I do intend to continue at this point. I recommend this book to fans of Christian historical romances, and have high hopes for the rest of the series.
Flora is a woman who needs to keep from making mistakes. The biggest problem she faces at the moment is getting away from the man who is following her. Only now she is turned around and it's snowing like crazy! She finally sees a light up ahead and hopes it holds shelter and not the man she is trying to get away from. When she knocks on the door Wade Thomas answers. Great Wade? He has given her nothing but trouble for her actions, like going riding in trousers! He has been to their home several times when her ma has invited him after church, but, other than that she really doesn't know a lot about him. He finally convinces her that the weather is too bad to try for home and she reluctantly agrees to stay. The next day while Wade is gathering wood Eagle Pete comes storming into the house and intends to have his way with her. Only she's not having any of that and continues to evade him until finally Wade comes back with his arms full. Pete finally leaves after having not one but two guns pointed at him. Then they realize that she will need to spend another night since the weather is still not letting up. Oh my her pa will definitely insist they marry! What happens next? Will Pete come back? Will her pa insist on a marriage to save her reputation? Only one way to find out what happens next. Read this great story by Linda Ford.
I've always loved to read but it used to be very hard to find good Christian books to read, Christian love stories were unheard of. I am so glad they now have them. This was a new author for me & so glad to have found her. She did an excellent job of writing this story & she must have done a lot of research to know so much about the area. I have read a lot since I was a child. I never got to travel like most kids so books was my way of travel. I got my books by bookmobile. I work in the fields by day & read at night. So I learned to love books. I read mostly mysteries but since they have come out with Christian love stories & I have began to enjoy them. I have learned there are a lot of them. Linda is a new author for me & she has done a great job telling Flora & Kade's story from hate to love. After being forced to spend time together because of a snow storm they seem to change their opinion of each other. Flora is a very rebellious woman that doesn't like to abide by anybody's rules & doesn't like to dress in frills. As the saying goes she likes to dance to her own drum! This time it could have been disastrous if she had not found Kade's cabin. You really should get this book. You will not be sorry. It is a great read!
Another great book of love and faith by Linda Ford.
I read all types of books! Reading is how my mother survived endless full days of taking care of a husband, eight children, cooking, washing clothes in a wringer washing machine, hanging clothes on clothesline, and directing her children to help pick up the slack. Yet, my greatest memory of her, was her standing at the stove cooking while reading a book...as she stirred heavy programs on the stove. By my teens, I realized she escaped her labors by slipping into another place, time, with her mind lost to reality, as she lived a heroine between the beloved covers of hundreds of books. By fourth grade, I had read my first novel of Pollyanna. Over my near seventy years of life, I wish I had written down the the names of the thousands of books I have read. Lately, I had been reading nonfiction books on battles of World War II. My father and my father-in-law had returned home from fighting in Europe and the Pacific critically ill. I was ready for light feel good novel after looking back into the dark time of our great nation. Ms. Ford's can always fulfill that need!
This starts off fairly fast and right into the story. You might Flora as she is lost in a snowstorm away from home. She eventually finds shelter at Kade's house. You can tell right away that both of these characters do not care for each other. They are cordially especially after realizing Flora is going to have to spend the night, which is a big no-no back in this day and age for unmarried people of different genders. They both agree they can't tell her family what happens because they will be forced to marry. I won't give too much away, but her family finds out and Kane has to spend some time courting her. As with all romantic novels, they do fall in love and love happily ever after.
There is tons of depth to this book being a Christian based book. Tons of character development, but it doesn't make the book seem long or boring. The author hits a good mix of adventure , romance, and growth to make the book very intriguing. While there is not sex in the book, you definitely can tell from the writing that there are some strong feelings between Flora and Kade.

I love the premise of this series about four adopted sisters. Loving a Rebel is book one and starts off with tension that rarely lets up. Flora is a pistol, keeping her parents on their toes in trying to keep up with her, and on their knees in prayer to keep her safe. She is constantly on the run, but doesn’t understand why. Foggy memories nip at her, sometimes giving her nightmares. She flaunts rules and social mores, yet does feel conflicted about that. She has a great sense of humor, and I laughed out loud on more than a few occasions. I appreciated her dad who was strict, but not mean. Kade is complex, and I enjoyed watching Flora get under his skin. He is sure that is way is THE right way, but eventually begins to consider his conversations with Flora, so he’s not so rigid that he’s not willing to see another side to an issue. He has an astute understanding of people which I admire. I will re-read this story. This is a new-to-me author, and I look forward to reading more of her books. Highly recommended.
Ok, I hate to say it but I really liked this book. I received it as an ARC and I wanted to give my honest feedback. This isn't the typical normal book that I read but I wanted to branch out and I am glad that I did. It was a sweet romance with some bad stuff intertwined. Flora is a rebel without a doubt and Kade is a loner that has experienced tremendous loss in his life. Due to a snowstorm, they are thrown together in a time that this was extremely inappropriate and there is a good chance they will now have to get married. They come up with a story and it is believable until someone tells their secret. I liked the simplicity of the book, the only problem that I did have was the fact that it was rushed and could have been flushed out a little better but it was a very quick easy sweet read.
I enjoyed reading Loving a Rebel: The Preacher’s Daughter(Glory, Montana Book 1)!!! All about Flora Knisley a young women in her twenties and one of four daughters to the preacher & Kade Thomas a young man in his late twenties a cattle rancher. Flora is a rebel who loves to put on trousers and ride like the wind outside of town on her horse Dollar!!! Often times not caring about anybody or anything, hence why she’s lost in a blinding snowstorm. Read about Flora & Kade and the fact it’s the eighteen hundreds women don’t stay with men unchaperoned, it’s forbidden!!! This story was a page turner, and I loved the chemistry between Kade & Flora!!! Lots of different emotions run thru this book, that explore how each feel about the other, over the course of four days stuck inside as a snowstorm ravages the area!! Definite Read!!!
Kade owned small ranch with about one hundred head of cattle. In the past he had suffered the loss of his family and was scared deeply. Flora was one of the four adopted daughters of the preacher and his wife. Flora had lost most of he family too and also carried deep scared and sadness. A blizzard strands Flora on Kade's door step for several days and nights with no one knowing her whereabouts. Once able for Flora to get back home her father is furious and demands Made marry her as her reputation is not ruined. Neither want a shotgun wedding and Flora refuses to marry Kade. Will they ever find true love? What will her preacher father do? This is a great story and you will love reading it.
This is heartwarming, sweet and interesting. Kade is responsible, chivalrous and caring. Flora is stubborn, impulsive, reckless and caring. Kade and Flora end up being snowed in together in his house after she shows up during storm needing shelter. They didn't like each other, but both knew it was necessary, realizing that they could end up being forced to marry, especially considering that Flora's father is the preacher. They get to know each other, and learn that their opinions of the other are far from who they actually are. When Kade begins to think that it wouldn't be terrible to be married to Flora, Flora is not interested at all. They end up having a romantic and sweet relationship. I received a copy of this book from Hidden Gems. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
It's a great feeling to read a clean romance. And I like the western days, so the two combined should have made a great story. But the dialogue fell flat. For over half the book all the author did was put dialogue between Kade & Flora. Flora acted loike a 12 year old with little sense, & Kade was obviously a grown man, knowing what he wanted from life. While the author showed Kade falling in love, she did little to show Flora admiring anything except Kade's looks! So I was highly disappointed. Especially with the love scene at the end, when Kade proposes. Everything fell flat..words but no emotional expressions or physical actions to make me feel like I'm there in the story.
Flora knew that she should have been more careful but she just wants to be free but this time she has dragged someone else into her mess. She hoped that no one would find out that she had stayed with Kade in his cabin but she had no choice. All they can both hope is that no one finds out the truth and she knows that her father the pastor will make sure that they marry. Kade knows that he can win her over in time he just needs to court her and hope that she sees that they could be good together. Flora knows that she likes Kade but she just can't marry him she doesn't want that yet or does she? A good read.
I liked the main characters, although the age difference did bother me a bit. Making Flora 17 seemed to diminish her character a bit, like her personality is just a teen phase.
The story itself seemed to try to squeeze in too much: forgotten childhood memories, rescuing a dying family, like 6 dead parents/siblings in their past, and someone stalking Flora through a deadly blizzard for no discernable reason. I'm sure her missing brother's story will be covered in a later book, but the family moved in order to find him and yet...does no searching for him?
I think the book would have been improved by cutting out some of the drama and expanding more on the characters.
This is a delightful tale of a town whose preacher has four beautiful daughters. This is about Fiona who wants freedom. Kade is a man who has lost loved ones to foolish choices. When Fiona is caught in a snow storm; she is trapped for two days with Kade. The connection they make over those two days is learning about each other. Suddenly, Kade is seeing Fiona with new eyes, and the freedom that Kade gives her helps her find out why she is always running. I look forward to more stories about Glory, Montana.
This is one of the cutest story’s I read in some time. Daughter of a preacher, Flora gets caught in a blizzard and seeks shelter at the nearest cabin. Rancher Kade Thomas makes her stay the night rather than attempt to try to return to her home in a blizzard. Later after she returns home, her father insists they marry. Kade wisely asked for time to court her and develop feeling between them knowing she had to feel she was loved before she would submit to marriage. The story is well written, clean and wholesome and tugs at your heart with a feel good ending.
Seeking shelter from a storm; lost and alone; and she finds a cabin with a light in the window. Someone is chasing her but would she find safety inside or further danger. That is the story-line. Flora was on the wild side as the Preachers daughter loved to ride across the countryside in pants and take on the unknown. Stormy weather and far from home she knocks on the door of a cabin belonging to Kade Thomas. The book is well written and can be read by anyone.
Flora didn't consider the consequences when she raced to the home of Kade Thomas. She only wanted to escape pursuit and experience freedom. Kade had gone through deaths and abandonment of loved ones, so he avoided anything that would be a risk. Both of them found a safe place for their heart. This first book of the series tells the story of one of the preacher's daughters and how she trusted enough to find love.
I really enjoyed reading this book about Kade and Flora. They seemed to be opposites at the beginning, but as they listened to each other and began to really understand each other it became apparent how similar they were. The author did a great job with the characters, making them believable and likable! Also, the details given made me feel like I was there, seeing, hearing and even smelling the Montana countryside. I didn't want the story to end.
Flora, a headstrong young girl with things locked inside her, gets lost in a snowstorm and ends up staying with Kade for a couple of nights. Her father, the local preacher, intends to save his daughter's reputation by forcing them to marry. Both Kade and Flora take a stand against her father order to marry. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
Loving A Rebel by Linda Ford Flora Kinsley and Kade Thomas they get to know each other when she gets caught in a snowstorm and has to stay at his house. Her dad says they need to marry and Kade talks him into letting him court Flora instead. They fall in love and fight it. I think this was a very good book. I really enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone looking for a good book to read.
I have read these books out of order. I love their stories just the same. Each story can stand alone. This story is about their redheaded daughter who appears to be rebellious. She accidentally finds the man that is a match for her. I won't tell you more because I will give the plot away. Read and enjoy I did!!!!!
For those who enjoy the genre of sweet and clean historical Christian western novel, this one is for you. Despite a lovely cover and alluring title, it is relatively mild; although tends to jump from one coincidental occurrence to another to maintain interest. But, as typical, concludes with a happy ending.
I really liked the story line. I could really feel Flora's feeling about marriage and her wanting to run to find herself and what she really wanted. Kade was very wise and could really know how to proceed. Reading this book made me feel as I was one of the characters. Looking for Ms. Ford's next book.
Great love story with lessons to be learned. Strong willed red head with dreams she never understands, tragic life to a love understanding for parent's sisters, learning to laugh and teaching a man to bake chocolate cake. Cute interesting fast read. Nice clean love story.
Flora and Kade don't see eye to eye but she gets stuck at his ranch during a snow storm. During her confinement there, they get to know each other better . Once the storm is over and Kade escorts her back to town and her preacher father insist they marry each other to protect her reputation.
