Poetry. The poems in Sara Miller's SPELLBOUND are deeply imagined, bizarre, and bent toward the light. Unafraid to dissect the animals of the night, the way the natural world beckons, the inner madness that makes us all obsessive creatures, this is a book that risks the confines of time and space to sing a song that feels ancient and endless.--Ada Limón

the poems were mostly quasi-idylls about the absurdity of anthropomorphizing nature and her creatures but there was also a lot about being hungover and trying to learn french and going crazy in an apartment and that, to me, is where the heart of the poetic experience should be situated.

I loved the first section (of four) and the cover, the second section not much, and some of the later poems. There is some stunning music here.
