One morning. One note. Three abductions: Ten years ago, former Seattle Police Detective Chase Grant assisted on a homicide case that led to the capture and imprisonment of one of the country’s deadliest serial killers. But even behind bars Dennis Pullman is still wreaking havoc.

James Hunt's passion for writing began at an early age. While his journal of yesteryear may never be the work of great fiction, he's been working hard every day since then to bring pages to life. James has well over a decade of writing under his belt, but his professional career in literature didn't take off until 2014.
James currently lives in Orlando, FL and when he's not pounding away at the keyboard you can find him at the theater or somewhere outside enjoying the beautiful Florida weather.
( Format : Audiobook ) "It's been a long time, Grant." Convicted serial killer Dennis Pullman has been held in a top security prison for ten years but now three women have been kidnapped and somehow he seems to be behind them as he calls for one time detective, Chase Grant, to join his game and save the captives - it he can. He has twelve hours.
Short, just three and three quarter hours, of non stop excitement with scenarios as well as characterisation to hold the reader's attention. The ending leaves open the possibility of a sequel. Narration is by Gwendolyn Druyor. Although excellent in many other presentations and she does give a very reasonable performance here, sadly she was wrong for this book where the story mostly calls for male voices. Why, I wonder, this obsession to have a female reader whatever the story might suggest? It is not 'equality', just foolishness.

Spot On Characterization Drives this Psychological Thriller
Hunt has captured the personality of the violent psychopath in strong details and terrific diologue. The tension between the protagonist and the antagonist creates sparks that fly across the pages. A tight plot (except for one niggling issue) sets the stage for a game that no one can win. If you aren't a psychopath the game can only create havoc and Grant (protagonist) isn't a psychopath. But how much skill has he lost during his 7 years outside of the police force? Does he still have what it takes, especially when the game is suddenly personal? P.S. niggling issue? If Sam is a US Marshal, why is she not part of the team?
Maybe this book is more of a men's read, but I founds that by about 70% I was tired of the non-stop action and suspense and violence. I love a good murder mystery and this book had lots of good elements of crime solving and a very evil serial killer. But, it got grueling and I had the skim the last quarter of the book to see how it came out. I also felt that the murderer was able to do some amazingly complicated things from prison and in a short time-frame after that. It seemed unrealistic at times, but exciting none-the-less. There was a nice romantic element in the background which made Chase Grant seem more real and three-dimensional.
I was upset that this book ended at a crucial spot and you have to go on in book 2. I want to read the whole story in one book. That is the reason for my middle of the road rating. Aside from that I really enjoyed reading this book and didn't want to put it down.
Chase Grant is back on the hunt...a serial killer that he once caught is now terrorizing the city from within the prison system...hopefully many will not die before Grant puts him back behind bars.
Talk about tense moment! The battle/game between Denis and Grant is enough to leave you sleepless in Seatle! I pray we never really have to deal with that demon.
A lot of action with violence in this story. The characters and the detective was good. Going after a serial killer in or out of jail he is deadly Given audio for my voluntary review
