Absurd. Unrealistic. No one has a love life like that…at least that’s what I thought.
Mandy is just your average, single twenty-something trying to make life work in the city. Alone and frustrated with life and adulting, Mandy likes to take out her frustrations by serial reviewing books in her free time. In particular, a certain genre of unrealistic romances known as reverse harem.
While everyone around her seems to be busy getting it on, Mandy hasn’t found a single guy worth her time. And, at the ripe old age of her mid-twenties, has learned to settle for the one constant in her life to get her through monotony: her cup of tea.
That is, until she meets them…
HER CUP OF TEA is a short comedic reverse harem contemporary romance.
This short story is full of fun, puns and tongue in cheek innuendo. For any fan of RH that happens to browse reviews when deciding on a new book, you might have seen a common thread - a 1 star review from a certain user who simply states, ‘not my cup of tea’. Though these reviews are basically an attack and drag an authors star rating down, it has also almost morphed into s badge of honor in the community. We all know of her and her proclivity to troll, and this kind of RH story is the perfect, mild slap back. Leave it to an author to take a bad trend and throw some glitter on it!
I really wanted to like this book. The premise behind why it was written was so petty and hilarious that I immediately got it. But I regret my $3 spent.
The book is so short. I’ll admit it’s my fault I didn’t look at how many pages it was cause it would have dissuaded me from the get go.
I saw the teasers for it on TikTok and I think if this book was even a bit longer .. maybe 150 pages or 200 it would have been a different story.
All of the book happens in one day. First Guy— met at a coffee shop. He somewhat defends her honor , gives her free coffee. She leaves thinking he’s hot.
Second guy— meets a few minutes later on a train. She stares at him. He gets her number and leaves the book he was reading behind.
Goes to work. Gets sexually harassed. Meets up with second guy to give him his book back. They go back to her apartment so she can change and while she goes inside he goes to the coffee shop.
Third guy — maintenance man working on broken elevator. Acts like a caveman , picks her up without permission and carries her up 8 flights of stairs to her apartment. He lets her in her apartment (forgot her keys) by breaking in. He walks in with no permission WHILE SHES CHANGING and ogles her. And she’s okay with it cause he’s hot. Wtf.
First and second guy appear because … she took to long so guy #2 takes guy #1 with him to check on her ….. uhhh okay?
Three guys find out about why she quit her job. Goes and confronts her boss and threatens him. Suddenly she’s THEIR woman? Also all three of these men were strangers to each other but are okay with sharing. Wtf bro. It’s been a few hours. Calm down.
Eventually they get back to her house and … yea ….
Then suddenly it’s 6 months later and they are all together still.
If the book was longer , there could have been some build up, some …. SOMETHING.
Too many issues for me to like it. Sorry.

The author has done a wonderful job of writing a short book with an original plot that held my attention from cover to cover. I hope there’s a sequel to this as I’d love to know more about the characters and how their relationship develops. Being short it’s easy to fit in to a busy schedule without much problem. I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys some steam with their romance. There are some funny parts, I would not recommend using the main female’s way of leaving reviews. The female was not expecting the books that she constantly sees ads for becoming a reality. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a very short but fun read. She got up on a Tuesday and had all types of complications. She couldn't make tea, so she stopped at the coffee shop and then didn't have a purse. She had a very good looking guy help her out. Then she had a problem on the subway and a good looking guy helped her out. Then her boos made a pass at her and she quit. At her apartment she couldn't get in, so the good looking maintenance man helped her. The ending was great.

I've read several books written by Alice Wilde; she has done an excellent job at writing a good short story; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the characters.

As Mandy has trouble understanding reverse harems being recommended to her account I was struggling with this insta-love one. Story was too short to really get into it and believe everything that was going on. Too much and not enough at the same time, sorry. This is a short story about Mandy and how in the course of a day, her whole world changes. She reads books, but has been rejecting RH romances thinking they are unrealistic. But in 1 day she meets Fritz at the coffee shop, Dan on the subway ride and Liam, the maintenance man in her building. They all want to date her and she finds them all irresistible. I just wish the ending was a stronger HEA.
This was a cute story. I picked it up when I found out it was a spoof of the Amanda borg and their cup of tea. I thought it was going to be more like Cocky Author when Cocky Gate was happening, but it seemed to be more light hearted and trying to make a troll into a sweet story. If someone ever does turn a cup of tea into total snark, I will be one clicking though
My Cup of Tea by Alice Wilde is an awesome story that I have read. I have loved reading this story very much and I can not wait to read more from this awesome author. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about reverse harem, romantic comedy and erotic romance.

This was absolutely hilarious 😂 while also being super cute and so outlandish I couldn’t put it down!!! I was laughing the whole time while also slapping myself in the forehead for her fumbling of words with the beasts of men!! This is one of the best short stories I have read ❤️❤️❤️ If you haven’t picked it up nows your chance!
I love finding any book on KU but THIS was gold. Taking a bad experience that many authors were subjected to and made a kicka$$, witty story! I was laughing out loud at multiple scenes!
Maybe it’s because I, myself, am hella petty but this book just EXISTING is definitely my cup of tea. In fact, I think I’m going to leave this as a review before even fully reading it because it only adds to the point.
Yes it’s a short story, but if you know of the “not my cup of tea” reviews, then you will get a kick out of this! A story about a girl who HATES the RH genre finds herself in a RH relationship. She finally finds her perfect cup of tea! Lol
This was amazing for a quick read! I love how Alice used her experience and turned it into a positive with this story. It was comical and so cute! Give it a shot. I bet it's your cup of tea ;)
This book made me laugh with its ridiculousness and I loved every minute of it. If you need a story that's a bit absurd, but in the best kind of way, with hot men and a woman that just needs some love, than read this. ... PS Definitely my cup of tea!
She is lonely and so read reverse harem books but she knows it would never happen. What will she did it she ends up in the middle of one? Will she love it? Will she be happy at last? See if she will be

This is a joy to read. I was laughing out loud as Mandy goes through her paces and ends up finding the thing she hates, a reverse harem relationship. Way to go! It’s just my cup of tea. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
