The Girl in Between

If you’d told Diana Cooper that “bad twin” Ian O’Brian would be her first lover — in his treehouse — she would have laughed in your face. If you’d told her they’d start a relationship, she would have waved you away. If you’d claimed he’d been secretly in love with her for years, she would have turned bright red. And if you’d said that “good twin” Brendan got them together with a threesome beyond her wildest fantasies — well, after she passed out from shock and recovered, she would have gotten busy imagining it all.But Di isn’t living in her imagination anymore, and she isn’t hiding in a shell of shyness. After years of burying herself in books, she’s done holding back.Yet being with Ian brings its own set of secrets. And when the bad twin starts to shed his reputation, where does that leave the good twin?

Fantastic follow up to this coming of age, explore your sexuality MFM Read. I love the bravery and honesty Diana shows in this book. She's starting to learn who she is and accepting her own desires and kinks. She's ready to own her sexuality, yet retains her smarts and her innocence of character.

I love this author's style of erotica. It's unabashedly filthy without being over the top or gratuitous. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a story that will have you waking hubby at 1am for some relief 😈

I received an arc of this book.

SHORT TEASER FROM THE GIRL IN BETWEEN

Each word of the poem dropped into the dark bedroom, spreading ripples. When she finished reading — nothing.

“Diana.” Ian finally spoke. “We don’t have to do anything tonight if you don’t want to.”

“What do you mean?” She sat upright.

“You said everything was going so fast.”

“I like it that way.”

“I know, and you’ve always been so hot and into it, but then you read this —” he tapped the poem in her hand — “and I’m thinking about how you went from nothing to me and Brendan in the treehouse, and us getting together, and being so wild and crazy out of nowhere…”

“It’s not out of nowhere,” she protested.

“Okay, it’s not.” He smiled faintly. “You had the craziest, dirtiest fantasies, but they were all in your head for the longest time, right? I don’t want you to feel like it always has to be about sex with us.”

“You don’t want me to feel that way,” she repeated. “Why don’t you tell me how you feel?”

“I guess I’m saying that I don’t want to feel that way.”

“Thanks.” With one fingertip, she traced his lips. “I know that’s not all there is.”

What would it be like if they didn’t have sex? Her curiosity intensified as his breath stirred her hair.

“What if we do things but we don’t have sex tonight?” she murmured.

She caught Ian’s smile in the dark, a flash of white teeth. “What kinds of things?”

She was feeling her way, with no idea what lay around the corner. What kinds of things? Ian was right. She hadn’t just dashed around the bases with the boys next door, she’d blown up the ball field. She’d been so hungry to experience all the touch she’d been missing, so eager to cut through the awkward moments of figuring out someone else. Two someones.

Ian rubbed her back as she lay beside him, the barest amount of space between their bodies. His touch was gentle, but tension coiled his arms. Hard flesh brushed her stomach. He was holding back. Knowing Ian, that didn’t come easy.

Her mouth still felt the words of her poem, and she could swear her ears still echoed with every sweet and dirty word he’d ever growled or whispered to her.

“Can you put your mouth on me?”

His eyelids flickered, but he kept the distance between them. “Where, baby?”

“Start at the top.”

Grasping her waist, he rolled her onto her back. The twisted sheets and blankets rubbed her skin. His face came closer and closer, moonlight outlining his brow and cheekbones.

He kissed her hair, then her forehead. Lips touched each eyelid and her nose. Her breath quickened when warm hands cupped her cheeks. The kiss that landed on her lips was so innocent, it didn’t even occur to her to open her mouth.

“You’re such a nice kisser,” she whispered.

He grunted softly. “I’ve never gone this slow.”

“Not even for your first kiss?”

“What are you talking about? This is my first kiss.”

KU READ

this was heavy on the plot side and I loved that!! I needed it. Book one was so smutty and delicious, here, we finally saw feelings & the future ahead. I ship Ian, but I'm still curious about Brendan and what's up with him. Diana's coming of age story was steamy & highly entertaining. Even Sonia was super cool! Pick this up if you love sensual stories with a side dip of angst & OVERFLOWING CHEMISTRY!

This was better then the 1st book. There was a plot. Still steamy and still using rod to describe the male anatomy.

My iPad just melted with this book.

I didn't think that anything could be hotter than the first book. I was wrong. SO. VERY. WRONG. I am quite sure that my iPad was smoking. So often a book with a with a storyline such as this comes off as cheesy or is just a quick read without substance behind it. That is most assuredly not the case with either of these books. This author crafts her characters with such precision that you can see everything they see as if it was your very own eyes. and feel their emotions, can read their thoughts, even hear their voices.

You have to read the first book. Otherwise, you will miss the dynamic that is Diana, Ian, and Brendan. This author can write some steam. Sweet Holy Titfire, can she ever. I kept looking around me to make sure others couldn't see what I was reading. After a while, I just didn't care. My fanning myself and blushing probably gave me away anyway... (And yes, this author made me blush!!!) Just prepare yourself for a wild and crazy ride. Oh, and be prepared to need a cold shower.

I'm needing to see Brendan and his story. Please let it include a certain roommate that hates him. Pretty pretty, please? It's mentioned that it will be short. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's more than that. Especially since this book was supposed to only be a novella and it turned into two glorious books.

This is the continued story of Diana, Ian and Brendon from book one, The Boys Next Door and can’t be read as a standalone.

While book one was 95% sex and 5% story, this one was more like 75% story and 25% sex.

There were some things that I liked…watching the changes for the good in Ian and Diana finally telling everyone about their relationship and things that I didn’t...sometimes Diana got a little annoying.

This one had more development with the characters than book one but I would have enjoyed it more if there would have been some chapters from Ian and even Brendon’s point of view....that would have made the story that much better.

My thoughts:

POV Diana
Quick hook or slow starter? 3 (there were parts of this one that dragged for me)
Character development: 3.5
Level of Romance between characters: 3.5
Passion/Heat level: 3.5( it as steamy as book one)
Angst/Heartbreak: 3 (a little at the end but it almost felt forced for the sake of throwing angst in)
Cliffhanger?: No, this one is pretty much wrapped up in the end.

Overall, it wasn’t bad and I was entertained. I hope this author gives us a book about Brendon in the future...would love to see what becomes of him.

Thanks!

I enjoyed first book in this series very much. It is coming of age, sexuality exploration, MFM new adult read with a taboo twist there are two twins involved. And the story continues where is left of in that book. In my opinion you don't have to read first book but certainly I recommend it. To me it was much better.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

And the end of book one Diana choose one of the brothers to have a relationship with, But she still struggles with what she did and still wants to do in this book. There is some family drama with her parents not approving the twin she picked because he is the "bad one".

I think I would liked this more if this was a book about the other twin.
At the end all we get in this book is heroine being conflicted about still wanting them both but really don't. She loves the guy she is with but still of course we get couple of steamy scenes with three of them.

Overall this is fun, steamy erotica read.

Well, I don't know how to review this book as I have conflicting feelings about it. I am at odds with it; I enjoyed the first book and wanted to know what happened next , but book 2 was very slow, somewhat anticlimactic as nothing really take place.

Let me begin by saying that this story picks up where The Boys Next Door, ended and it details the everyday , ordinary and mundane lives of Ian and Diana; that's basically the book.
Diana goes to the gym where Ian works and they go on dates. Diana have vivid sexual fantasies that goes on and on and it just drags. The sex scenes are still hot , smutty and plentiful . I didn't see a growth Arc in Diana and it's told at the end of book (instead of shown) that Ian was being responsible.

I am glad I read it; wanted closure from the characters, and I got it . However, I wish the delivery was more exciting; not just writing in a journal , camping every night in your backyard and eating French fries with friends.

I loved The Boys Next Door that for the past six months I've been eagerly awaiting the release of The Girl in Between and I was NOT disappointed.

Diana and Ian are blissfully happy, while Brendan is his charming self, all the while no one knows that Di and Ian are together. Not to mention Diana's inner turmoil of missing both boys together now she's officially only Ian's.

The story was just perfect and the way it came full circle at the end was beautiful. I loved this book just as much as the first. Now to wait and see what happens in the next story with Brendan 😁

This book is a follow-up to The Boys Next Door (Next Door, #1), and is everything I expected it to be and more. It was sexy, steamy, and super smutty.

I just hope Miranda Silver writes Brendan's story. There's definitely more to him than meets the eye. Something tells me the charming good boy facade is just that... a facade. A short story. A novella. Hell, I wouldn't say no to a full-ass novel (*whispers* with Sonia)!!

Alright, I won't lie. This book was a guilty pleasure. (Sometimes, I wish goodreads allowed half ratings. )

Rating: 3.5/5
Steam Level: 5/5

This book's setting is different from it's prequel in the sense that while the first one focused on steamy forbidden adventures, this one explored more of Diana, her relationship with Ian, and the shift in their dynamics. This sequel focuses on those aspects, which also allowed more character development and growth.

The story does deal with the unanswered question left at the end of first book: what about Brenden? The author does answer the question, but I don't if I was fond of it. It seemed so simple? And emotions are rarely so simple....

I also enjoyed seeing the other side of Ian and seeing him grow apart from Brenden. It was nice to see him push himself to be better for Diana. I really enjoyed reading about their dates over the summer because it allowed Ian and Diana to explore and get to know each other beyond sex.

Diana's college times were relatable because hey, Yale? Most Ivy leagues have that play hard work hard mentality. Personally, I thought it was hilarious that Diana became the crazy roommate (as her roommate, Sonia would say) because it is such a contrast from what she was like in the very beginning of the series.

I enjoyed reading about Diana growing into her own skin, her relationship growth with Ian, and her time at college. Overall, it's a nice guilty pleasure read with plenty of steam. (brace yourself)

The Girl In Between (Next Door Book 2)

I’m happy that the ending warranted my wading through a lot of the sameness of Book 1, “The Boys Next Door”.

Diana continued to work hard through her years at Yale, can’t remember what her Major was. I am wondering if Brendan is going to get his own book and strangely if Sonia will have a part in it.

It was good to see the friendship continue between Diana, Ian and Brendan still, it was good that he was moving to Washington, for his own sake.

Between both books, I found it hard to believe that neither the Cooper nor O’Brien parents heard all the comings and goings at nighttime in their homes, not to mention the late night swimming in the pool.

I did skim over the last few Chapters, but I’m glad I got to finish the set because I feel wrecked after all that activity🤣😂

Could I love this book anymore? Nope! I love the dynamics between Ian and Diana but I also love her relationship with Brendan. There’s so much passion and love between the 3 of them. But I also liked how they each have their own relationships with each other.

Diana is trying to explore new things and Ian is there to help her. Ian is blossoming into the best version of himself. Brendan is navigating a new normal of being by himself more often and not always being the protector.

This story was sweet and sassy, sooooooo spicy! I laughed and I cried, and boy do I love Sonia!! I’m looking forward to more of her in book 3!!

This is a re-read for me and a new review!

Literally so much spice in this book but so much character development and good plot points. Honestly definitely a reread soon book!! Love the three together!

This book was given to me free in exchange for an honest review

The plot:
Diana has decided to pursue her relationship with Ian and friendzone Branden, but she wars with this throughout the story. The plot focuses on her and Ian’s relationship development and the obstacles in their way. Diana fights her lingering attraction to Branden, her parent’s dim view of Ian and faces her transition to university, whilst continuing the theme of exploring her sexual awakening. This is book two. This is not a stand-alone.

The characters:
We learn more about both brothers in this book and the characters they portray to the world. Diana continues to challenge the roles they have created for themselves. Ian seems to exhibit the greatest character growth as we see the positive influence Diana has on him.

Diana’s character development is slower in this book. She has a few anxieties which she faces with the help of Ian via a series of surprise dates they go on but I found these a bit slow going and sentimental. If anyone produced a huge volume of poetry in front of me asking me to read it, I’d probably jump out of the nearest window. But that’s just me. This book is far more about the characters falling in love. It's slightly softer and slower in its approach which either you are going to prefer... or not. Totally a case of personal taste.

What happens:
Well the answer is ‘not a lot’ really. I was excited by the blatant erotic journey in the first book. Diana going from innocent to the extremes of sexual experience took up about 85% of the story. I know I said maybe it was a bit too erotica-heavy but in comparison, this second book was probably 35% erotica, which felt like too little. I am never happy it seems. I guess I just came into it with an expectation and suddenly the second book was very different.

Why did I drop two stars?
As I have stated previously, I wanted it to be a little more erotic, but my main gripe was that I simply missed Branden. I love a good menage where everyone is happy, but for 85% of this book there is no Branden. I guess he's a slow burn. But I hated thinking about him going off with other girls. I wanted Diana to love him just as much as she loved Ian. I guess I just wanted more equilibrium. I kept worrying about Branden. I wanted to know how he really felt. I actually wanted more of the twins POV, but we get none.

In general, this was a good read and everything works out happily in the end, but I think I preferred the first book when they were more of a unit and I am not sure I can bring myself to read the next book unless the three are definitely together throughout it.

I was kindly provided a copy of this book for an honest review :)

If you're looking for erotica splashed with glimpses of a story, please continue and enjoy this story.

The story is unassuming, well-written, and honestly, a sexy read. It is not targeted to dive deep into character development or into a fully developed love story...which is perfectly ok.

While there are taboo subjects involved, it is adequately descriptive, interesting, and enough of a tease to keep you going.

In essence, the good girl main character is in search of a thrill after living most of the better half of her life scared and nervous about her entire environment. Enter the twin boys next door who take it upon themselves to bring her out of her shell, and they do more than just that.

Like I said, some of the explored topics are not for everyone and should be considered accordingly before diving into this story.

While it is not particularly close to a book I would re-read, I won't deny that it was a steamy read ;) Plus, I thought Ian was very interesting and deserved more pages to himself.

Dramatic le sigh

Well, as first book was more of a kinky porn book, then this one actually had a story. A story, which I didn't understand and it ruined it all for me.

Finally, Ian and Diana got together! I rooted for them. It was so sweet and I felt this is going to be 5 star book.

But then Diana just went weird, as me wanting to bang my head to the wall. I am very open minded but I have some standards, okay! Very little, but still I have and this shit didn't work for me. If she would love them both or something like that but noo just she lusts after one brother while loving other. Banging both 🙄

Just last 10% was disaster for me and crashed whole shit. Ugh, such a shame!

ehhh

I think this should have ended with book one. I almost didn’t want to finish it because it got boring and repetitive.

Also… poor Brendan. They did not take into account his feelings at all. He was way pushy and peer-pressure-y in the first book, and I’m not sure Diana would have done some of the things she did in the first book (not that she didn’t end up liking them and discovering herself). But once she and Ian got together it was like, “oh sorry, Brendan who? We’re not even going to think about how he feels about any of this or have a talk about leaving him behind so we can start a relationship.” Brendan was basically used by Diana after that. I want him to have a happy ending because you can tell he was such a sad guy who hid behind smiles… but I’m just not interested enough to read the next one right now.

I liked this book, maybe not as much as the first book (probably shock factor, though). If you’ve read the first book, you can probably guess this book focuses on a couple rather than a girl amongst multiple people. But there are instances where they bring a third in, and that does have some shock factor because now she is dating one of them vs no attachment in the first book. So there’s some fear of jealousy and uncertainty. That being said, I do think some people would be really annoyed by the FMC being so unsure all the time and going back and forth in her head a lot. It didn’t bother me, but just something to think about if that’s something that would bug you. This book follows the FMC through her first year at college and kind of skips at the end to the end of her sophomore year and then to her graduation. Happy ending, of course.

Like the first book, this one has all the sizzle you could expect. The storyline was good too. I liked getting to know Ian better. I will say that Diana does annoy me a little bit. She just doesn’t seem to realize how good she has it and takes stupid risks. The best scenes were definitely the ones with all three of them together. I did skim a bit through some of her college days until Ian was back. If you read the first one I’d read this one. Not sure if I’m going to read the third one though. Brendon’s story doesn’t really interest me that much but I’m sure it’s good too.

I really enjoyed this continuation of the story, I loved how the relationship between Diana and Ian developed and felt like there was a lot more plot to this one than the previous one.

I liked that we sill ended up with MFM scenes and I loved seeing the real side of Ian and the way Diana defended him.

I wish there were way more books in the Diana/Ian series - I know there is another book about Brendan but even in this second book I couldn't quite get totally on board with him - I seemed to mirror Dianas roommate with not liking people who need to be liked by everyone else!

I absolutely loved this sequel to The Boys Next Door! It picks up right where that book left off so be sure to read that first or this will spoil it! Ian and Diana are now together as a couple and exploring their relationship. The plot has some twists along the way and there will be some MFM action as well. Diana jumped into this relationship fast is still figuring things out for herself. Also, I completely fell in love with Ian in this book and am so glad we got to see more of him!

Good read, storyline

The second book in the series, and want to bad. I do wish there was more story to it…and I think it would have made a great plot twist to have it end as a ‘why choose’. Ending the story with her realizing she loved both brothers, would have made it so much better!!

But this two book series was a good read, dirty and 🌶️🌶️
