A fox in wolf's clothing.

He said, "Come on. Move in with the pack. It'll all be perfect."

I said, "No. They're still healing. I'm a fox shifter, the reason they fell apart in the first place. I won't mess this up for you."

Yeah, so... I moved in anyway. And, sure enough, clan bonds started breaking, fights erupted, Gunner's entire role as pack leader was cast into doubt.

Now I'm struggling to posture like a wolf while protecting the stray kitsune who showed up on our doorstep. Gunner's stuck choosing between our relationship and his role as pack leader. And I've only got one thing left to say about the matter:

"I told you so."

This final installment in the Moon Marked trilogy follows Wolf's Bane and Shadow Wolf.

Fox Blood, (Moon Marked Book 3), Aimee Easterling

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Sci-fi and Fantasy, Romance

Well, adventures galore after the antics at the end of books two. Trouble in the pack for Gunner, Trouble for Mai with Kira excelling herself in brat mode here. Honestly, at times I wanted to shake her. She a kid though and gone through such a lot. And because she's a kid then social services are always overlooking what the two do, and checking Mai is looking after Kira properly. Of course she can't tell them whats going on “ ah well, you see, actually we're fox shifters, Kitsunes...” - “ right, OK dear, now lets just give you a nice shot to clam you down....”
There are possible relatives for the girls who though they had none, Gunner has pack troubles, getting wolves to accept him having a fox mate. Kira's mum is still throwing in unhelpful tips, and its really chaos all round. All Mai wanted was a quiet life for her and Kira, then she met Gunner and he convinced her they could make a life together. The pack has been through such a lot though and they are not happy.

Stars: four, its a fun finish, packed with action and suspense, but the actual ending did feel a little rushed. I'm not usually one for books following the ending of a story but I think a longer epilogue with a peek into the future would have finished this off well, just to let us know that after all the chaos and disasters things did work out, that the pair had not just a HFN but a HEA.

A bought book!

I really enjoyed this final installment of Mai and Gunner's story. Mai and her sister Kira are vulpine, kitsunes or fox shifters depending on the view as all three are descriptive to the story. Anyway Mai believes they are the last kitsunes so discovering one in the meeting hall. Then there in an entourage that The elder lady say she is Mai and Kira's grandmother. Who let the secret of Mai and Kira being part of Gunner's wolf pack.

Mai still has a hard time accepting Gunner's over protectiveness and his need to provide everything for her. Gunner is still having difficulties having a cohesive pack and getting them to accept his mate, Will Mai accept that she is Gunner's mate and complete the mating? Will they discover who let the foxes out so to speak. You already know they have but I'm not telling you how they get there.

I voluntarily read an advance copy and have not been compensated in any way for this honest opinion but don't take my word for it if this is the kind of romance that you love to read then grab a copy and find out for yourself.

This is the concluding title in the Moon Marked series, and I am sad to see this series go. Mai is still not where she’d like to be at this point, and then life throws her a couple more curveballs. How will she get through all of these roadblocks to where she’d like to be in her life? I hate to be vague, but I don’t want to spoil anything in the series. I really liked the two things that happened in this book that made Mai’s life difficult, but I really hated how they ended up. I would have liked at least one of them to be more positive for her. LOL! How’s that for keeping this review spoiler-free?! I do hate to see this one go as I’d have liked to see more of Mai and Gunner as a couple. All in all, a great book just like I’ve come to expect from this author. I do recommend highly this book and series. I received a complimentary copy, and I voluntarily left a review.

Arrghhh Mei and her sister are terribly annoying. Yes, we understand you're concerned about your sister, but good grief, every line is about protecting her smart mouthed sister. Plus, I was looking for romance and didn't get it, so that's that. I was disappointed from the start. Couldn't finish because I could care less about what Mei's grandmother had planned. I would've preferred more Mei and Gunner instead.

I really enjoyed this series! The first book was probably my favourite though. My reviews for the first and second book still stand as far as characters go and story.

Kira in this book, actually, in all of the books is a petulant brat. I actually can not stand her to be honest. I don’t really care that she’s a teen, to me she is still a brat. Mai is constantly sacrificing herself to save or help Kira, but Kira couldn’t care and is really ungrateful. Mai will do something to save and help Kira, but Kira again does t care and instead of being happy for the help/protection just ignores it. So yea - I really can’t stand her. She would be my least favourite character in this book.

Mai. I feel like throughout this series Mai has actually gotten worse. She can’t fight all of a sudden, or when she does she gets her ass handed to her... every time. There’s a moment in the book when one character says to something along the lines of how can she teach us f she can’t tell people sneaking up on her. That character is not wrong. I thought all shifters have heightened senses.. that’s what the other books implied. However, Mai’s have gone backward. If it was a dark empty hallway she couldn’t find a door in front of her 🤦🏻‍♀️ I feel like her character was really let down in this book.

Again though, this story/plot was original and interesting. I really enjoyed it and was excited to read each book, even if a little disappointed by two characters 😊

„Fox Blood” the conclusion to the “Moon Marked” trilogy by Aimee Easterling wraps up Mai and Gunner story, but not before throwing a couple of twists and curveballs on their way to happiness.

After the events related in “Shadow Wolf” (Moon Marked Book 2), Mai and Kira have reluctantly move into pack territory. Even with her relationship deepening Mai don’t really enjoys Gunner overbearing protecting nature, and fights to cement her own independence, easier wished than actually done, while she has to constantly take care of her sister and be constantly aware of the pack politics, including the role that she, as a kitsune in hiding, plays into the mix. The presence of even more kitsune in pack territory prompt a series of unexpected events, twists and turns that keep going in the way of Gunner and Mai happiness and keep the reader invested in the plot after the very last page, wondering whether fox/wolf shifter relationships have a chance of HEA or are as crossed as the pack believes…..

Aimee Easterling’s trilogy will be best enjoyed in chronological order to fully appreciate the intriguing plot with all its ramifications, as well as the intense, relatable, credible and multifaceted characters that made this shifter’s tale one of the best of the genre; with a most originally take on the shifter-myth, and adding into the mix the novelty of a kitsune MC and the - at first sight - apparently character incompatibility between the different shifter species. Easterling is the veritable alpha writer, when it comes to shifter stories, her storytelling and style make her books immediately recognizable and never disappoints. While is hard to let the characters go, this is a very satisfying conclusion to the Marked Moon Trilogy.

This book picked up shortly after Shadow Wolf (Moon Marked Book 2) ended, and it will make more sense if you read the series in order. As always, Aimee Easterling has produced a fun, suspenseful shifter story with an exciting plot. I love that this series adds kitsune to Ms. Easterling's world of werewolves, blending her delightful take on shifters with magic. Fox Blood is an interesting and exciting story that delves deeper into how pack bonds and kitsune magic actually work.

This relatively quick, fun read started with a great hook and effortlessly captured and held my interest. It was fast-paced with an exciting, action-filled plot that presented some unexpected twists as our heroine Mai learns about both her kitsune heritage and what it means to be an alpha’s mate. The ending felt just a little bit more rushed than I would have preferred, but it does bring the series to a satisfying conclusion. I really have no complaints, other than the fact that I am sad at the prospect of not having any more books to read in this series.

I really like the characters in this series. Mai is strong but vulnerable, relatable and easy to cheer on. Her sister Kira is about as adorable as a bratty teenager can be, and I love Gunner and his pack. I will miss reading about these characters.

If you like urban fantasy or paranormal mystery/suspense with a hint of romance, give this series a try.

I volunteered to review an advanced reader copy of this book provided to me by the author. The version I read was neatly formatted and professionally edited with no glaring errors.

Some authors just know how to do shifter urban fantasy perfectly. I hunt these authors out and treasure them whenever found. Aimee Easterling is most definitely among that rather elite group, and her Moon Marked series is a perfect example of why this is so. Her take on shifter mentality and the world-building she put into the series are both just perfect. I fell in love with its lead character, sassy but string fox shifter Mai Fairchild in Wolf’s Bane, the first book in the series. It was an excellent tale full of adventure and just the right amount of romance (see my separate review). I had intended to savor the remaining two books, Shadow Wolf (Book 2) and Fox Blood (Book 3) but once I started I found myself unable to stop and gobbled them up in one single sitting (which went far too long into the night). Mai is with the pack now but things are not easy for her or for Gunner. Her sister is at risk. The pack itself is at risk. Her disruptive impact is seemingly as feared. Trouble, twists and turns, adventure, excitement and romance all as promised and all done perfectly. Total addiction a definite risk. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. Both of these books definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that each book is most definitely “one to read”, and each is easy to highly recommend.

Mai and her sister have moved into her alpha wolf's territory, but the appearance of an unknown fox shifter may destroy her happiness. Mai, and her almost mate Gunner, have told the young woman, fox shifter, that they will protect her, but her presence could destroy the pack. Mai's determination to protect those that she loves will have her reluctantly agreeing to become her long lost grandmother's apprentice, and leaving Gunner.
Fascinating and well written characters willing to fight family and foe to Shane their happily ever after. Fantastic and action packed paranormal romance series set in a unique world. I loved thus book, and this series.

I am voluntarily leaving an honest and nonincentivized review of this ARC.

Struggling with what she thought was best for Gunner and his pack and her sister’s safe, Mai was walking in quicksand. Things were not working and then, Kira and her were not the only ones kitsune. A new threat was upon all their heads and with little choice Mai had to risk all. Liked Mai’s insight and how and how she was reasoning with herself. Interesting and mysterious the kitsune and their magic. Enjoyed this well written story that kept me intrigued all the time with its not at all predictable plot development. Intense and intriguing descriptions that had me captivated, good and strong characters, action, drama, magic, mystery, strong emotions, violence and a suspense that was escalating each time. Liked it!

I honestly tried but couldn’t finish this book. The plot is intriguing in this series and while I enjoyed the first and second book, I couldn’t finish this one.

Mai’s character went down hill fast, in the other books she was strong both mentally and physically but in this one she’s suddenly helpless and can’t make her own decisions really. While Kira is a brat and seems to make everything worse, yet Mai never really “parents” her instead babying her constantly even when Kira clearly needs a bit of tough love.

Maybe the story gets better (and I can be very judgemental when it comes to characters) but I can barley read a paragraph without wanting to throw the book across the room. So for my sanity I’ve decided to stop reading.

Disappointing

Once again, like the second novel in this trilogy, the heroine, Mai, spends the vast majority of this novel in a helpless/hopeless state, at the mercy of outside forces. As a result, she is a frustratingly passive protagonist. By 3/4 of this novel, I couldn't take any more of the dragging pace because of this dynamic, and I started skimming.

Unfortunately, even the fabulous GraphicAudio dramatized performance couldn't save this novel. After dedicating almost all of the three books in the series to working extremely hard to convince readers that it would be a disaster for the wolves in Gunner's pack if this melodramatic Romeo and Juliet ever got together, the HEA ending for the romance came off as utterly contrived and completely unconvincing.

I got this as an ARC but I've enjoyed the others in the series.

Mai has joined a werewolf pack cos she's getting close to the Alpha. She's not sure if she's ready to declare "Mate". Part of the problem is that she's not a werewolf. She's a WEREFOX (or kitsune) and werewolves don't really like kitsunes.

The pack aren't really ready to accept her as the Alpha's mate and that means that they have less trust in the Alpha. The pack is fracturing.

Mai's Grandmother turns up and rescues Mai and her sister during an attack on the pack. Poor Mai - Grandma didn't turn up just to say 'Hi.' Did Grandma rescue Mai or kidnap her?

Good story. Good series. Loved it.

Yet again, this amazing author has thrilled me with her powerful kitsunes. An unexpected relative enters our duty bound fox’s life, thus complicating life decisions even more. It goes without saying that these pages flew by. When you read tales of shifters and mates, you expect certain outcomes. This particular author skillfully kept me wondering if an HEA would be achieved at all in this book. On top of that, I was beyond happy that I really could not anticipate what lay ahead with these characters! Yes, there were possibilities jumping around in my brain, but nothing was truly obvious. Loved every page! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

ONE SIZZLING ROMANCE!!!
Wow! Aimee totally nailed the ending. If you're looking for an action packed, fast paced, heart pounding, pulse racing, nailbiting, smooth flowing, page turning dynamo that grabs your attention and holds it until the last word. In a whirlwind of emotions and events really pulls those heartstrings. The drama, uncertainty, fear, responsibility, danger and suspense increases steadily while tension spirials as the plot thickens. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it really pulls this little jewel together beautifully. Aimee did an amazing job bringing this read to life brilliantly. Remarkable job Aimee, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.

Fox nature vs wolf nature. A fox mate whom werewolves have open season on killing. A sister who is full of foxy mischief and uses it and teenage angst to a maximum. There is trouble within the wolf pack and between the brothers who are both leaders. Relatives that appear from nowhere expecting you to take your place within the family and who show you a side that you do not wish to embrace. Beautiful men who wish to give you all of themselves. Plus an alpha mate who would do anything to protect you and yet holds back his nature in order to soothe yours. What is a fox shifter to do? Find out when you read this book. I loved it. ;)

As much as I wanted a departure from reality - and with how much I had enjoyed the other series by this author that are werewolf-centric - this 3 book series was really not well written. Everything that seemed so thought-out and detailed about werewolves and their abilities was completely forgotten to the point of disbelief as this storyline advanced. And the very plot was somewhat difficult to follow. The main character isn’t completely unlikeable, but her sister sure is. Overall, I feel this 3 book installment - and the last one of the series in particular - very poorly written and/or edited.

Fox Blood by Aimee Easterling is Book 3 and final in the Moon Marked series. Loved this series and how it ended. Another well written, fast paced, action packed, page turning adventure. However, was frustrated at times with Mai, Gunner and Kira. Kira was mostly a brat and usually not appreciative of Mai's sacrifices. Mai and Gunner needed to learn to communicate with each other better which would have made things better between them. That being said, I found this series to be an enjoyable read and highly recommend it. Piper Goodeve did a fantastic job narrating this story. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.

Audiobook: I thought book three was a great conclusion to the trilogy. The story had me sitting-on-the-edge of my seat as Mai and Gunner strived to find a solution to all the complications caused by their relationship. I was surprised by the turns the story underwent. I appreciated Mai's growing magical abilities. I liked Mai's and Gunner's story a lot. I was entertained by Piper Goodeve's narration, and her performance was easy to listen to and pleasant to hear. I was given a copy of the audiobook through Spotify. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

An avalanche of events caused Mai and Kira to make choices that will affect their lives. The third exciting segment of the Moon Magic series by Aimee Easterling further developed the familial and pack bonds in Fox Blood. With all the complications that family brings, Kira's decision brings heavy consequences.

This final book leaves room for at least one spinoff series including characters we haven't spent a lot of time with like Becky, Elizabeth or Curly.

I received an advanced release copy of the novel and voluntary wrote my review upon completion of the book.

Not the best series

Its not a bad series over all but I feel like it lacked depth. Interesting concepts and problems weren't talked about or explored, such as the other foxes or what happens when a fox and a wolf some day have offspring? Or explaining the wolf child more indepth.

I felt like the series moved really quickly and avoided truly dealing with problems instead just giving quick and easy outs. Also it didn't dig deeper on any of the really interesting ideas that it brought up.

I didn't much like the first two books in this trilogy but since I regrettably paid for them, I figured I should finish them. Most of the characters are weak and unlikable.

This third book doesn't really seem to have anything to do with the first two. It's more like a duology with this book tacked on. It's a completely different storyline.

The story also feels pretty disjointed to me. I couldn't figure out where the plot was going for a while and some things were left unexplained and unresolved (i.e. the enforcer). The end of the story left me feeling sort of half-heartedly resolved.

I've spread out the reading of this paranormal fantasy trilogy romance over several years. This is a satisfying conclusion.
A fox shifter named Mai is doing everything she can to protect her younger sister after the death of their mother. She joins up with a werewolf pack to survive, and starts a romance with their alpha.
In this outing, there's unrest in the pack as soon as a strange new fox shifter shows up. Then another one shows up claiming to be her grandmother. Mai has to make tough choices to get the best outcome for the most people.

The conclusion of this series is great. Mai should be comfortable in her new life, but she's not. The Pack is not settled and she's in the middle. Once again she's is dragged into many directions trying to protect those she loves. Nothing will keep her from protecting them. Will she survive and get the life she wants. You'll find out at the end of this fast paced, suspenseful, and action pack book. My only complaint is, the series has ended.

Love this character and her story.

While I love Mai and her kitsune nature, this was the weakest book in the series so far. It just felt rushed and short and lacked the character growth I'm used to seeing in this series. I still enjoyed the read, which only took a few hours. But it didn't leave me feeling satisfied. The story that was this entire book would be more fitting as a few chapters in a better, longer, meatier book about this brave little fox and her werewolf mate.

Fox Blood is Aimee Easterling's finale in her Moon Marked Trilogy. This book by far had more complex subtext then the other two. Oyo, another kitsune fox showed up, uninvited, into werewolves territory. Of course how could anyone fail to notice a mysterious grandmother waltz right in when she was least expected. The pack was in turmoil. Mai and Gunner's bond tenuous at best. how much more could they take before they shattered completely?

Love, LOVE, L.O.V.E. this series. The characters grow and develop over the series, and this final book in the trilogy did not disappoint. A strong female lead character with a good moral compass and a heart of gold is put in an impossible situation. No matter which way she turns, someone is going to be hurt... badly. Will perseverance and self-sacrifice be enough to tip the scales and save those she loves? I highly recommend this series!

This is the third and final book in the Moon Marked series and we get to see some shocking things come into Mia's life. I am sad to see this series end as Mia and Kira have plenty of learning to do when it comes to their history and I would love to see exactly how they handle it. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
