As I close that last page, I look up, notice it’s dark outside, glance at my watch and see it’s 9.00pm..I’ve lost hours, as I neared the end, the pace of the book picked up, my fat bloggers ass got numb, pretty sure my eyes got cross eyed racing to read those last chapters, I was on the home straight, my heart started speeding up, my feet started getting jittery, my palms started to sweat..
And then closing off that last page and falling down that brutal cliffy, all I can say is that I wasn’t prepared! Blindsided by this author yet again!! The ground fell out from under my feet, jaw dropped to the ground!! Now that not so patient game starts of wanting/needing/stalking for the next release!!
This was a masterpiece! Executed perfectly! Unpredictable, and Unique in every sense of the world. WOW!! I’m sitting here left flabbergasted!
There was angst. There was drama. It had smokin' dirty girl sex scenes that had me gasping for more!! Cries of combusting kindles all over the world will be heard come release day, because this was beyond hot!!
As soon as I started this, I was hooked, twists and turns that had me reeling from the after math, I fell in love with the plot, the characters whom I rooted for, I wanted/needed the truth, I couldn't put this down, this ticked all my boxes!! Buckle up book lovers because this one offers one hell of ride!!

Mackenzie is a great character - she lost so much and despite everything, remained strong and determined. I really hope she gets the happy ending she deserves, or so help me God, I will hunt S.M. Soto till her last day!!! 😂
And Baz...? Oh my gosh, there were parts that my ovaries hurt because of him! I wanted to crawl into the book and do some dirty things to him! He is the perfect combination of sweet and dominance - and everything I love in Alpha Man.
Just... Yum! 😋
However, the reason for her revenge was unclear to me. I didn't understand if Mackenzie wanted to get justice for her sister and put those responsible in jail... or make a profit out of it by writing a book about it all…
I won’t lie, there were some scenes that board me and quite a few familiar clichés (especially in the first sex scene) but despite that... it freaking worked perfectly!!! 💜💜💜
Hell, I really don't know if I can wait until February. I NEED the second book, like… now!!! 💥

Kiss Me With Lies by S. M. Soto is one of the most entertaining books I've read all year. I LOVE a good dark, romantic suspense novel, especially when there's a murder mystery involved. Throw in an unreliable narrator, and I'm putty in your hands!
The story sucked me in immediately and wouldn't let me go. It's twisty, perfectly paced, and intriguing. The characters are interesting and mysterious, and the chemistry between them is explosive! The sex scenes are perfection, and the mystery aspect of the story had me flying through the pages. I simply could not put this book down!
The murder mystery is the highlight of the book for me. It's so much fun trying to figure out the truth behind it all. Who can you trust? What really happened that night? Is everything what it seems? So many questions!
My heart sped up, and my mind went into overdrive reading the last few chapters. When the cliffhanger came, I cursed out loud. Lol I need to know what happens now, dammit! Thankfully, the next book will be out very soon, and I can't fucking wait!
KMWL is such a fabulous ride, but it's even better blindfolded! For that reason, I'm not going to say anything else about the plot. I've already told you everything you need to know. Just dive in head first and hold on tight! You won't be disappointed!

After much deliberation and still trying to find myself, I’ve come to the conclusion that it is impossible!! I can’t. I have no words for what I just witnessed as a cliffhanger and quite frankly even I could’ve found them, it would make no damn sense!! Seriously WTF was that?!! Do we check ourselves into a psych Ward until February because you know we’re not going to be ok!!
Kiss Me With Lies is a sexy romantic suspense thriller that will have you guessing until the very end and even then that won’t be enough. This author will have you questioning everyone and everything. Nine years ago, Mackenzie’s life changed drastically when her twin sister was murdered. That night changed the course of her family dynamic, hindered relationships, and left a mark on her soul that will never go away.
Now with a new life, Mackenzie tries her best every day to be a different and move on from a tragedy that left her world shattered. With fate intervening and new suspicions arising about what really happened on that fateful night, things are about to get dangerously crazy.
I have to say that as much as I anticipated the craziness and the suspense, I was not prepared for the thriller ending. I was confused, shocked, horrified, angry, and excited at the same time because I knew that we needed more answers and with those answers were going to be A LOT of questions. I cannot wait to delve into this story and uncover the truth that changed so many lives and created a domino effect of chaos and heartbreak. If you’re looking for a romance thriller with a cliffhanger that will literally leave you speechless, then this one is for you.

This book… The sex was hot as hell, I’ll admit that, and despite my issues, I read it in 2 days so that has to count for something too, right? Baz was also an intriguing character - I quite liked him - but man the heroine Mackenzie....
Really, all I could do was shake my head. This book is about an insecure and kinda weak girl who has no clue what she’s doing but does it anyway and is definitely way in over her head.
First, Mackenzie was VERY indecisive. I know, it’s part of the story, love or revenge, but after a while I got so tired of her dilemma.
She didn’t want the H to think the worst of her but then she needed to find justice for her sister, but she also couldn’t bear to hurt his feelings but then, everyone was guilty until proven innocent, but she also KNEW him, he couldn’t have been in on it and so on and on and on…
Due to that back and forth, her goal to avenge her sister seemed very halfhearted at times. It also didn’t help that the book focused more on the relationship than the actual story. Ironic of me to say, I know because I usually love the relationship-building the most, but if there’s an underlying, more interesting plot to the book, there should be a good balance of both. Not leave the most interesting part to the last 10% and then end it in a cliffhanger, that’s just mean ;).
Anyway, as a result, the middle part was incredibly draggy, there was sex and sex and more sex which means, except for her relationship with Baz, she made no progress in her investigation whatsoever.
Seriously though, she didn’t succeed in anything she did (not counting the last 10%), she got caught snooping around like 8 out of 10 times. She had no finesse AT ALL, she blushed, she stuttered, she coughed, she got flustered, she got caught in her lies many, MANY times…
If I’m reading a revenge story, I need the person to be a little bit more calculated than that.
Oh well, it was frustrating but I’m still invested enough and am looking forward to the sequel.

RTC closer to release date
I should know better ... whenever I write RTC there is one thing for sure: that there will no review to come cause my ass forgets it, then after a few weeks my sieve of a brain can't remember all the details and then I can't bother to write a review.
Kiss Me With Lies is the exception. While the details of the book are kinda fuzzy, I still wanted to leave a few words on the book, because what I remembered clearly was the feeling I had, reading the last 30% of the book: excitement.
Not going to lie, the middle of the book was sometimes a bit slow and it felt like the plot wasn't moving at all, but man the end of it really made up for it.
When the pace picked up, everything happened so fast. What I loved was that I had the feeling of being part of the story. I was pretty sure I was standing next to Mackenzie. When she was nervous, I was nervous. When she got scared, I got scared. I felt everything she felt, because it felt like I was her! S.M. Soto has a great way of writing suspense scenes. I was holding my breath, waiting to see what would happen next. My heart was racing, I had to take so many breaks between chapters cause I was so damn close to a heart attack.
My feelings about the cliffhanger still stands: WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL? April still seems so far away. I want Mackenzie to finally get her revenge for her sister.

HOLY SMOKES! I have no words, I am absolutely speechless after reading this book. S.M. Soto penned a phenomenal book that left me begging for more... more than the air I breathe. Kiss Me With Lies is full of angst, drama, secrets and lies. There was never a dull moment, and I literally sat on the edge of my seat trying to read faster and slower at the same time. I needed more, but yet didn't want it to end.

Talk about a cliffhanger!
Kiss Me with Lies has me hooked. A little slow at the beginning but once the chapters started rolling, it all became a blur and I was eating up the words written by this awesome author.
Mackenzie and Baz are 🔥 Incredible chemistry, sensual and so bloody dangerous.
Kiss Me With Lies is without a doubt mysterious, suspesful,thrilling and super sexy. I for one cannot wait for the second part!

SM Soto has done it again. Jam packed with Angst, heat and action - this was a FANTASTIC read.
This is the kind of book that had me flicking back and rereading parts because my mind was coming up with multiple theories about what was happening. I love a book that keeps me guessing!
The chemistry was OUT OF CONTROL & there were moments I wanted to climb Baz like a tree. He's the epitome of a fantastic dirty talker!!
Cannot wait for book 2 - I might have yelled at Soto a few times for leaving me hanging!

WOW! I don’t think I’ve been that on edge while reading a book in awhile. I was hooked right off the bat with the blurb and once I read the prologue there was no going back. I was completely and utterly captivated—this story took ahold of me and didn’t let go for one second. Even still, after I’ve finished reading I’m still holding on because I don’t want to let go. I desperately, and I’m not saying this lightly, but I NEED the next book like I need my next breath. And I’m not even exaggerating when I say that I’ll be counting down the minutes until I get my hands on the conclusion of this duet.
Mackenzie was a girl after my own heart. I understood and sympathized with her on a deep level. My heart hurt for her and what she was going through. Losing her twin sister and on top of that, having her parents not not care or be there for her was just uncalled for. She’s lonely and since that dreadful night, she’s hidden behind a mask. Mackenzie is on a mission to seek the truth and especially justice. And she’ll stop at nothing until she gets it.
Baz is one sexy mother-effing alpha. I fell so hard for him. There’s mystery to Baz though, and I’m not at all convinced that he’s as savage as the others in his circle. There’s a side to him he doesn’t show anyone, but he definitely let it slip when he was around Mackenzie. There’s just something about her that had him showing his vulnerability which I enjoyed, a lot.
There was no doubt from the moment Baz and Mackenzie crossed paths that a spark would ignite. These two had mind blowing passion. Their undeniable chemistry burns off the pages. And there’s no doubt that both Baz and Mackenzie are falling. But Mackenzie can’t lose sight of her ultimate goal—no matter if it ends up breaking her in the end.
Kiss Me With Lies is the crème de la crème. It’s every bit addicting and oh so tantalizing. This romantic suspense is filled with mystery, intrigue, angst and suspense. The first-ever thing I have read by this author and my god what a fabulous ride this was.
The first in a romantic suspense duet this was such a twisty and turbulent experience.
I felt so many contradicting emotions both during and after this angry, sad, confused my heart and head fighting a constant battle with what I believed or what might actually be.
Even when the characters here managed to frustrate me so much I felt like screaming at them I still was rooting for them all the same.
Makenzie, I loved her just so much she was a trifle batshit but who could blame her considering.
She wasn't the most logical tool in the box but she had such heart in everything she did even if her decisions and spy-skills sucked hairy balls.
I also loved Baz at least when he wasn't behaving like a tool I adored how dirty and emotional his and Makenzie's encounters were, His Dirty-girl nickname for her was just so hot.
These two had so much chemistry they could start a forest fire together they really did sizzle.
This is a story of secrets ones that are hidden and buried so deep an industrial size shovel may be needed just to uncover them.
But no matter what she has to do including using Baz to uncover the truth our girl is determined to succeed and get vengeance for her sister's life cut short.
Such a page-turner I couldn't put this down and I read in one entire sitting I was absolutely transfixed from the moment I picked this up and what a finale: I need the next part of this like yesterday.
I have no idea what's going to go down in the concluding part of this but can't bloody wait.
This is a five-star read all the way and I highly recommend this twisty suspenseful story.
This one gets a huge thumbs up from me.

Hot damn!!! Kiss Me with Lies started in an explosive way the Twin Lies Duet! This book is so hot, thrilling and mysterious! I love S.M. Soto’s prose and story-telling aptitude and this novel is unquestionably fascinating from start to finish!
Mackenzie and Baz are fire! Their attraction is so palpable and leads to some particularly scorching hot scenes! She’s not his “dirty girl” for nothing! As much as the sexual chemistry is off-the-charts, Makenzie as an agenda of deception. She knows that the Savages, Baz and his group of four privileged friends, are responsible for the death of her sister. She’s looking to find answers by cunningly invading their lives almost a decade later.
Baz is the perfect embodiment of dirty talker! He’s so filthy and irresistible! He can be so cold and hard to read, but there’s some sparks of gentleness here and there. I was captivated by this man! I enjoyed the chapters in his point of view and I felt that the fact that there’s only a few of them kept him a mystery and help with the intriguing aspect of this suspenseful read!
I must admit that I found the start of the intrigue a little slow to take flight, but the second half of the novel was electrifying with lots of action. The huge cliffhanger has me dying for Bury Me with Lies! S.M. Soto masterfully created a sexy, exhilarating story with interesting multi-layered protagonists! I need more!!!

This book was... something else.
This a suspense/dark(?) romance story. It was really entertaining. The plot of the book was so good that I never wanted to stop reading.
This book is about Mackenzie, who attends to her first high school party that is held in the woods and the next morning she finds out that her twin sister has been murdered. Years laters, Mackenzie finds herself determined to find out the truth about what happened to her sister that night.
I liked Mackenzie as a character. Even though she was tormented, with everything that happened in the past with her sister, she was also strong and determined. Mack and her sister didn’t have the best relationship when she was alive; Madison was the popular one, the one everyone love, meanwhile Mack was the nerd and chubby sister. Madison would always treat her badly but nevertheless Mack was always loyal to her.
Baz is a character that I can’t talk to much about, his character has a few plot twists since the beginning of the book. He had a few povs but still he was always a mysterious characters. And after that plot twists at the end, I don’t even know what to think.
I really can’t wait to read Burry Me With Lies because I don’t think I will recover from that ending anytime soon.
The reason why I’m giving this book 3.5 stars is because there were a lot of sex scenes. There was even a moment when I thought that was reading an erotica book instead of a suspense book. However, the book was really good and I enjoyed it.
If you like suspense romances, I would recommend this book, just be aware that you will find yourself reading a lot of sex scenes.

This book had me on edge pretty much the whole way through and I don't think I've ever read a book this fast before. On one hand I wanted to savour the story and read slow and take it all in but on the other hand I was flipping through so fast wondering WTH was going to happen next. You know those movies you watch with one eye open yelling at the MC to not do something or to not go in there alone yeah well that is this book.

Having always felt like she lives in the shadow of her twin who is more popular, prettier and meaner than she is, she is suprised when she attracts the attention of one of the 5 'Savages' who are the hottest guys at school. Madison catches Mackenzie then forces her to leave the party. A hurt and upset Mackenzie leaves with Madison and goes home to sleep while Madison sneaks back out to meet up with the 'Savages'. The next morning she wakes to the police at her door to inform her family that Madison was found murdered in the woods.
Jump forward 9 years in the future and Mackenzie is now in New York living a life she can't afford. Ooooooh girl I need a minute after that cliff hanger ending. This entire book was addicting, suspenseful, so steamy and had me guessing from start to end. I still don't even know if half my theories will be correct and I honestly have no idea what will happen in book two I just know I need it NOW
Mackenzie was such a stong yet broken and conflicted character. She was heavily flawed and super naive at times but was such a raw and real character at the same time and I really loved her. Her dedication to finding out the truth was admirable as well as slightly insane. Her chemistry and heat with Baz oozed off the pages and every time they were together I could feel the heat and fire. I really liked Baz even though I didn't/don't fully trust him and his actions towards then end of the book broke my heart and I wanted to slap him. I need to know what happens with him,Mackenzie and the Savages as well as finding out every truth in book 2 Bury Me With Lies I have a feeling it'll both shock and amaze me.
I also hope book 2 dives deeper in Mackenzies home life and background because boy were her parents frustrating

I honestly think that this book just soared to the top of my romantic suspense favorites!!!! OH MY GOD....I finished it last night and my mind is still reeling from this plot, these characters, and this cliffhanger!! What have you done SM Soto?!? I kept trying to swipe for more words - more Baz - more Mackenzie, but alas...it is over until she saves us all with Bury With Me Lies that hopefully is coming soon!!
Baz & Mackenzie jumped right out of the pages of this book - their chemistry was so real, so raw, SO passionate and undeniable. I was drawn to Baz immediately, who was the perfect combination of dominating, protective and compassionate alpha male. He stood out from the other "Savages" immediately and you just knew something was different about him. The way he holds a room, commands Mackenzie, and draws people to follow him with aggression at times and soft-spoken charm at others, left me absolutely breathless. His inner battle with trusting others too easily all while still wanting everything with Mackenzie makes him the perfect mysterious alpha hero. I'm going on record right now saying Baz King has just sky-rocketed to the top of my fav alpha list!!!!!!!!
And Mackenzie...this girl. My heart broke for her over and over, and yet at times I wanted to yell at her and push her in the right direction. But SM Soto kept Mackenzie true to her character exposing her insecurities at times, while portraying the confidence and determination she always strived for when she needed it most. Her fierce need for vengeance is what drives her, and along the way she learns so much about herself that it surprised both her and me. Her character shines throughout this story, and I am hoping and praying that this girl gets the happy ending that she deserves!
This book is pure brilliance. It is sexy, steamy, and suspenseful full of twists and turns you won't see coming. PLUS - the characters are addictive, not only the hero and heroine, but the Savages each on their own add an entirely different dimension to this story. I didn't want to put it down. I didn't want it to end, and I CANNOT wait for the conclusion to this fabulous duet! Well done once again SM Soto!!! I'm ready for more BAZ!!

I’ve literally just finished Kiss Me With Lies and I’m shaking. I don’t know if it’s because I’m mad at you and that ending, if it’s the adrenaline pumping through my veins at what you’ve just put me through or because I need to throw something.
My heart is beating out of my chest. My head hurts. My breathing is erratic and it’s all your fault.
You’ve made me ignore adulting, eating, drinking and sleeping because your words are just that damn good. I couldn’t put the book down because I needed answers. I needed to know who the killer was. I was trying to slow down my reading so I didn’t miss anything but at the same time trying to read quicker because in my head I thought I knew the answers and I wanted it confirming, but I was wrong. Dead wrong.
Please note that I will be sending you the bill for a new kindle (as I may have thrown mine a lot) some new panties (because those sex scenes were insane 🔥) and a holiday, because I feel I need one after what I’ve just been through 😂
As much as this book destroyed me I will now be chomping at the bit until I get the next one, because February is way too far away for my liking. I will be making everyone I know read this, just so I don’t have to suffer alone.
I hope you are proud of yourself. You should be. That was one epic book.

AHHH! OMG! What did I just read? I need to catch my breath after that crazy ending. Kiss Me With Lies was absolutely phenomenal. The storyline was absolutely brilliant and perfectly crafted. It was filled to the brim with mindblowing sexy chemistry and gut wrenching suspense. S.M. Soto has completely rocked my world with this book and that ENDING?! OMG!! Simply. Outstanding!

Wow!!! This cliffy had the potential to kill me if i wasn't wise enough to wait to binge read the duet!!!
God, what a freakin' mess!!! Honestly, i can't wait. What will happen after all???
Will Mackenzie survive this mess and manage to find justice for her sister???
And what about Baz??? Am I right that i still have faith on him, even though the things doesn't look good for his defence???
Well, there is one way to find out....

I can only hope when all is said and done, my heart will survive the wreckage.
Well, this story had two POVs.... One was Mackenzie's and the other was Baz's....
I loved Mackenzie very much... I loved her old awkard self and her new determined one...
I believe that the justice wasn't only for her sister, but herself too and i admired her that even though Madison was a bitch toward her, Mack continue loving her...
She just needs closure in order to living and not just surviving....
And Sebastian is ruining her plans.... Her mind is screaming to her that he is guilty, but her heart doesn't get the memo.... and wishes for a miracle!!!

I'm kind of dead after reading this. S. M. Soto better give me book 2 soon because it's been days and I am still not over that ending. Talk about an EPIC cliffhanger!
Kiss Me With Lies was nothing short of a brilliant story... it had everything I crave in a romantic suspense, from an incredible plotline to amazing characters, enthralling secrets and an explosive chemistry between the main characters. And guys.!!! It was so darn explosive, you ain't ready!!! Baz and Mackenzi were combustible. From the first moment they met you could feel the chemistry sizzling between them and when they fell between the sheets... WOW, I'm talking caliente here, very very caliente.
Baz was a sexy alpha like I haven't encountered in a while. I fell for his dirty, dominant and mysterious sides and when you see him fall in love... heart= gone.
Mackenzi, this girl. My heart hurt for all that she had been through. She lost her twin sister and shortly after her parents too. This girl is a lonely girl that has hidden behind a mask ever since that one faitful night. She is a girl seeking the truth and most of all seeking vengeance for her sister and for herself.
When Baz falls in her way, she falls hard but never loses sight of her goal, her endgame, no matter if that ends up breaking her in the end. I loved her strength and determination. She better get her desired vengeance and her HEA in book 2 or else... as for the Savages, I hope we find out what exactly they have been hiding all these years and I hope they are somewhat redeemable.
Kiss me with Lies is a MUST read! If you love romantic suspense, dominant heros and strong heroines, you need this book!

I'm kind of dead after reading this. S. M. Soto better give me book 2 soon because it's been days and I am still not over that ending. Talk about an EPIC cliffhanger!
Kiss Me With Lies was nothing short of a brilliant story... it had everything I crave in a romantic suspense, from an incredible plotline to amazing characters, enthralling secrets and an explosive chemistry between the main characters. And guys.!!! It was so darn explosive, you ain't ready!!! Baz and Mackenzi were combustible. From the first moment they met you could feel the chemistry sizzling between them and when they fell between the sheets... WOW, I'm talking caliente here, very very caliente.
Baz was a sexy alpha like I haven't encountered in a while. I fell for his dirty, dominant and mysterious sides and when you see him fall in love... heart= gone.
Mackenzi, this girl. My heart hurt for all that she had been through. She lost her twin sister and shortly after her parents too. This girl is a lonely girl that has hidden behind a mask ever since that one faitful night. She is a girl seeking the truth and most of all seeking vengeance for her sister and for herself.
When Baz falls in her way, she falls hard but never loses sight of her goal, her endgame, no matter if that ends up breaking her in the end. I loved her strength and determination. She better get her desired vengeance and her HEA in book 2 or else... as for the Savages, I hope we find out what exactly they have been hiding all these years and I hope they are somewhat redeemable.
Kiss me with Lies is a MUST read! If you love romantic suspense, dominant heros and strong heroines, you need this book!

That cliffhanger though....ugh!!! The mystery and suspense is just perfect and highly entertaining. Mackenzie and Baz's chemistry was off the charts. I wouldn't mind being Baz's dirty girl. I am anticipating the final book in this duet.

This is the first book that I've read by S. M. Soto and I'm totally amazed at her writing and this book.
S. M. Soto is one of the new authors to me this year and this won't be the last book that I will read by her.
I absolutely addicted to her writing style which is simple and beautiful.
Her words are the ones that take and keep your attention through the whole book.
I love her storyline.
It was unusual and I didn't expect what will happen in the end.
"Kiss Me With Lies" is a suspense romance book with enemies to lovers trope.
Mackenzie and Baz's relationship isn't the usual one.
It is truly complicated and no matter how much you want for them to be together sometimes you feel like they will never get their happily ever after.
Mackenzie is a female character who lost her twin sister when they were seniors in high school.
Someone killed her sister and she wants to know who did that.
She wants revenge.
But, what she will do if the man with who she fell in love is maybe one of the men who are responsible for her sister's murder?!
If you're looking for a suspense romance book, then this is the book you NEED and MUST TO READ THE NEXT!!!

First..I adore everything SM Soto writes...but f*ck me running..
Kiss Me With Lies is my absolute favorite. AND ...in my Top 5 for 2019
The story kept me glued to the pages. The twists in the plot kept me guessing as to what was going to happen, and a couple of them totally rocked my world!
Talk about unfathomable, agonizing circumstances that will leave your heart pounding and bleeding with unbridled passion.
I was on the edge of my seat until the torturous cliffhanger ending...

5 HEART POUNDING STARS!! My heart was pounding so hard....I thought it was coming out of my chest. I was glued to this intense story for Mackenzie and Baz. Their story will have you on the edge of your seat all the way through. I am dying right now......The ending had me speechless. This author has given us readers that romance suspense story that we crave.....heart pounding, grinding your teeth, squeezing your Kindle so hard it about to break and lots of sexiness. You definitely need this book on your TBR.

Intense doesn’t even cover this book. I bit all my nails off and was pacing constantly while reading this story. Mackenzie is determined and doesn’t care what she has to do to find out the truth. Baz is total hotness overload alpha with secrets but he’s just so smooth and sexy you can’t get him out of your mind! You think one thing then BAM your shocked to your core. The ending has my mouth hung open and I’m sitting here just blown away. I can’t wait for the next book! 5/5 stars

This is my first book by S. M. Soto. What a beautiful cover. One of the most gorgeous covers that I’ve seen this year! Book 2 is coming very soon (Bury Me With Lies, Twin Lies, #2) on April 6. This book was a page-turner mystery, living up to its title! Secrets were everywhere and it was a highly entertaining read. The characters endured inner struggles most of the time, adding more drama to an already tense story. Since the release for the sequel is coming only now, when I signed up and received an arc for book one, I kept procrastinating. With good reason. The cliffhanger leaves you confused. I don’t quite believe it, but it’s convincing enough for Mackenzie. Her relationship with her twin sister was complex. The desire and desperate need to solve her murder drove the poor girl to the end of her wits. She fought hard. She also got distracted pretty easily and she made stupid mistakes. I hope she rectifies her failures in Bury Me With Lies. I’m rooting for her to become a better version of herself. There was a scene at a Gala and I hope the author does more with that and doesn’t let it slide as a stepping stone to make us understand Mackenzie more. It worked; I definitely empathized with her more after that.
Baz… What can I say about him? He was a hot leading man. His intentions were sketchy, but simultaneously, I think there’s more to him. The steamy scenes between him and Mackenzie were endless and superb. Their chemistry was intense. I truly wonder what will happen to them in book 2. I have a couple of theories for book 2, but I can’t disclose them since they’d be spoilers and I can’t do that.
I recommend this read to anyone who enjoys steam of the good and worthy of your time kind, tortured and ready for redemption and revenge-type of heroines and mysterious bad boys that won’t let you take a peek behind the curtain.
