Katherine Sutcliffe was born an only child in East Texas. After working for a time at an oil company and as a headhunter for a computer personnel company, Sutcliffe decided in 1982 to quit her job and attempt to write a novel. Three years later she sold her first book, Desire and Surrender to Avon Books. She works eight hours a day, five to seven months a year. Sutcliffe also attempts to find a single CD that will provide inspiration during the writing of each book. In the past, she has used the soundtrack to Somewhere in Time and Kitarō's Silk Road.

In 1995 and 1996, Sutcliffe worked as the Consultant Head Writer for the soap operas As The World Turns and Another World. Sutcliffe was offered the job after Bill Graham, who searched for writers for Proctor and Gamble, mentioned to his wife that they wanted to refocus the soap opera stories on romance. His wife, who loved Sutcliffe's book, insisted that he contact her. During her time as a soap opera writer, she concentrated on developing the six-month story lines, which the breakdown writers would then develop into dialogue and individual scenes for the show. During this time frame, Sutcliffe also made a guest appearance on Another World, playing herself. She resigned from her position after the networks began to insist that she move to New York City to be more accessible.

Her historical romance, Notorious, sold out its first printing in a mere four days.

Sutcliffe lives near Dallas, Texas. She met her husband, an English geologist, while they worked for the same oil company. They have three children, Bryan, Rachel, and Lauren. Sutcliffe also raises and shows Arabian horses.

Lovely gentle hero. Annoying, overly-dramatic, bratty heroine who should have been named Patience instead of 'Miracle'. Cause you need serious patience to put up with her snotty attitude and high-handed stunts. Almost thought the hero deserved better than her, her beauty is the only beautiful thing about her, didn't care for her personality. She's incredibly self-righteous for someone who's lived such a secluded free-spirited 'wild' life. And I tried very hard to like her since she loved animals and has a connection with them but her attitude was a major turn off. Mule-headed doesn't even begin to describe her tantrums. Jesus.

An exciting story of strong and epic love. I really liked the twists in the story related to Miracle's mother. I'm glad that she, unlike her mother, was able to keep her true love.

This was one of those books that I couldn't decide what to think about. I mean when I started it I was sure it had a lot of promise but at certain points my interest would flag. Perhaps that was because the book was so long and contains so many twists and turns. It wasn't that I dislike the book, it was just that I seem to lose interest in where it was going. Obviously my interest returned and I would find myself immersed in the story again. I found Miracle, the main character, to be likable but somewhat immature. It might have been an innocence or naïveté that she had from growing up so isolated. If so the author did an excellent job of capturing that. From the very beginning, I did not like the group at all. But by the end of the book I'll begin to soften towards him near the end of the book. I like to play very much, even from the start, I found his obsessive need to please his brother very irritating, a little too noble. But that didn't mean I like them any less for it. And then of course there was John. I can't agree with the choices that he made but I can certainly understand his reasoning. That's all I'll say about it. All in all this was a very good read and I enjoyed it. I can't decide whether I want to read the next installment because it will of course featured to do and I'm not entirely sure I want to spend that much time with him. That sounds silly I know. He's only a fictional character, but they seem to come to life for me like the real people. I suppose I'll make that decision when I need to

I COULDN'T AGREE MORE THAT THIS WAS WORTH ONLY 3 STARS OR LESS!

I am sorely disappointed with this story as well and I read this series in backward order. I think I only enjoyed Devotion for awhile, while Miracle was just a tad boring. This story had lots of potential to be angsty, filled with intense emotions of love, jealousy and passionate sex scenes!

OUR HERO is the younger twin brother of the Duke and a farmer. Owing his brother for saving his life when they were children, he reluctantly agrees to woo the rumored to be eccentric Miracle who lives by the seaside with a crippled caretaker. He is essentially the better twin and it doesnt take long before he falls in love with Miracle's uncanny innocence and naivette. As much as I would like to recommend him, his character isn't compelling and he leaves nothing much to be desired. He isn't like the tortured heroes with some dark charm, and even though he was a womanizer, there wasn't much to his personality that suggests otherwise.

OUR HEROINE has a childlike charm and honest to a fault, taking an immediate dislike to the Duke who is in fact Clayton. Eventually she comes to like and trust him, but little does she know of the deceit concocted by the twins. But then again, Trey pitched his brother into this deal on purpose for the two to meet.

OVERALL there isn't much drama in this story. It was rather flat, and the characters weren't so interesting i just felt so let down.

Pretty good describes it well. Most of the book focuses on the relationship between the hero and heroine . Miracle lives with a servant on the Isle of Wight, since her mother passed away and her father presumed dead. The duke (Trey) is somehow shipwrecked there with his friends and meets her. I give the book about 3 1/2 stars.

It was actually pretty good! I wish the ending unraveled a different way but it was good.
