Iva and Noah want to enjoy their reclaimed bond, but first they have to kill the most powerful of demons…or die trying.
Not much worries Noah Wulfenbach, one of the most powerful shifters in North America, but questions about Iva Yamauchi’s recovery had made him anxious. He was vigilant in his caring for his mate, sitting beside her tree, talking to it—to her. Now that she’s back, Noah’s relief is matched only by his desire to drag the feisty dryad to his house to complete their mating bond.
Iva is ready to make up for lost time, especially with the delicious Alpha Prime of the werewolves, her fated mate. She and Noah had only just recognized their connection when she was injured and broken, forced to retreat to her tree. She’s curious and excited to find out just how firmly she’s tied to Mr. Tall, Dark and Growly.
Before Iva and Noah can explore the depth of their connection, supernatural hunters threaten the population of Maggie’s Grove. Together with the other town rulers, the fated pair must slay the demon-possessed leader of the hunters. Iva and Noah just found each other; they’re not ready to say goodbye…but they may not have a choice.

Dana Marie Bell wrote her first short story when she was thirteen years old. She attended the High School for Creative and Performing Arts for creative writing, where freedom of expression was the order of the day. When her parents moved out of the city and placed her in a Catholic high school for her senior year she tried desperately to get away, but the nuns held fast, and she graduated with honors despite herself.
Dana has lived primarily in the Northeast (Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, to be precise), with a brief stint on the US Virgin Island of St. Croix. She lives with her soul-mate and husband Dusty, their two maniacal children, an evil ice-cream stealing cat and a bull terrier that thinks it’s a Pekinese.
I have been an intense follower of everything this author writes for a few years now, and time and time again i’m pulled into her storytelling and charismatic characters. I wanted to enjoy this book as much as I did the others, I wanted to dive into it and not look away until it was completed but I found myself trying to find reasons to put it on hold.
First off, I have been waiting for Iva and Noah’s story since the begging hints of her arrival back into the story- I wasn’t aware these two would be the couple until (I believe) the last book release in this series. It seemed like a perfect set up to the story, Iva has been damaged by something and we have Noah here to help her gain that back, but the whole relationship between the two characters seemed to easy. They just met and Iva has gone through something horrible but... it’s all okay? I expected a little “growth” and learning from one another. I understand that he is her mate, but her trust for him should be a little stand offish at first.
other that the basic issue with the full development of the MCs relationship, I also felt that the story was moving too fast- and then it was moving too slow. One aspect of the story would merge with another and then I would be left feeling that something just wasn’t adding up. I felt bored and found reasons to stop reading and do something else, which was a complete 180 from how I normally devour Dana Marie Bells books. I’m excited to see what her other stories have to offer, i’ll not give up over this little hiccup and patiently await more of her stories!

‘Maggie’s Grove is the place to be… the strong, solid characters are easily connected to and draw readers into their story which is full of passion, strength, loyalty and a willingness to fight evil. The romance between Noah and Iva is sweet with lots of powerful chemistry but their relationship has started off with trouble which they must overcome before they can hope to fulfill their destined bond. This keeps emotions and passion flowing from the pages as readers become enthralled with this couple.
The plot is fast paced and a bit complex with lots of suspense and excitement and readers can’t help but continue to turn the pages until they have read every last word. The battle with the Van Helsings is an ongoing one, so the story is best read in sequence for complete understanding of the character relationships and the nuances of the conflict but the story is still quite enjoyable if readers haven’t read them. This series is full of wonderfully unique and fascinating characters in a vivid and entertaining world that readers can’t get enough of and this one is a powerful and exhilarating reading experience.
I say this in almost every review: I always give honest reviews whether people appreciate them or not. Maggie’s Grove is an area near the mountains that is protected by witches. Magically that is. The people that live there are almost totally supernatural. There are witches, shifters, vampires, dryads, dragons and then some. This is also the fifth book of the Maggie’s Grove Series. Do you have to read them in order? I think so since it will help you understand what’s going on in these latter stories.
We begin this story with Iva, one of the ruling Dryad’s. Iva was missing for the first three books and turns up towards the end of the fourth. You see, the town has been slowly and surely attacked by a family (sort of) group of supernatural hunters. They are the Van Helsing’s, like the hunters that went after Dracula or in the third animated Hotel Transylvania movie. Iva had been taken by them, tortured, drugged, poisoned and all the horrible things that come with those, for again more than three books. Many other residents of Maggie’s Grove were too, but some of them never made it. Noah Wulfenbach is the Wolf Alpha. He isn’t only in charge of the wolves in their small town but all the shifters in North America. He was part of the group that rescued her and he is also her mate.
The town is still picking up pieces from the variety of attacks on the town from some witches and now demons. Apparently the demon pointedly attacking the town has taken over one of the hunters. That’s all fine and well since they killed the body he took over during the Song of Midnight Embers, but they didn’t kill or diminish the demon who then took another body. Iva, when she finally comes out of her Yew tree, no longer has red berries but black ones. Her eyes are now obsidian black. The other three Dryad rulers are shocked and want her examined in case she’s been infected. She hasn’t, but she’s different now. She also really wants time with her mate Noah but they have to find the real name of the demon and create a plan to take care of him.
I have now read all five of the Maggie’s Grove books, and they are quite good. I own and have read more than once forty one of roughly forty four Dana Marie Bell books. Ms. Bell and her story, Shadow of the Wolf (Heart's Desire #1) back in 2009, are the reason I got my first Kindle. She is an amazing storyteller and has done a great job creating all these different universes for readers like us to enjoy! This is such a fantastic book. I am so thrilled Ms. Bell is back! My only question is this: Will there be an Evil Bunny story coming soon?
I like this series, but these books read slow for me. Took me most of the week to read it and I was looking forward to meeting Iva, who had been either missing or healing for the rest of the series. I thought she did a great job at coming back from what she did, liked that the accepted Noah as her mate and did what she could to accept the kids right away too. It was fun to see them go to Iva for things and to declare they loved her.
Finally the group was able to figure out a way to get the demon out of their people and community. It was iffy for a bit, but they did it. I'm glad because the whole community deserves some peace and to be able to live for a good long time.
I love all the good people of Maggie's Grove. Those that aren't trying to kill the others that is. Wow oh wow, Noah was as Alpha as they come. Most of the time that would make them shitheads that needed to learn a hard lesson. Not Noah though, he was sweet, kind, understanding but that didn't make him a sissy boy. It made him very good at what he did. That was protecting everyone he loved and cared about. Iva was just as awesome. Sweet, caring always there to help. This couple made a great pairing. I can't wait to see whose story is next.
As always your stories are creative and well written. It took a while for the series to come to an end and I had to go back and re-read the others, but that was no hardship. I hope this isn’t the last we have heard from the folks in Maggie’s Grove.
Having read the other books in this series (and re-read them all several times!), I had absolutely no doubt at all that I would enjoy this book. That being said, even I was unprepared for how truly epic this book was going to be! While each book has it's own story, there is also a larger story, that continues from book to book, a supernatural mystery that builds to a grand crescendo in Hour of the Wolf.
Ivy is one of the ruling dryads in Maggie's Grove, a town inhabited by supernaturals and those that support them. But recently, something dangerous has been stalking those inhabitants, trying to destroy their way of life, attempting to eradicate them all. Ivy is trying to recuperate after a run in with those same ones left her broken and damaged, but not destroyed. With the help of her Sacred Yew, she is reclaiming her life, her strength, and is ready to move on with her mate.
Noah is the Supreme Alpha of the werewolves of Maggie's Grove. He, too, has experienced his own share of sorrow. He has been patient, waiting for his mate to be ready to accept him. But past that, there is still danger, threatening them all, waiting for a weakness to present itself to be exploited.
This book is the long awaited conclusion to the Maggie's Grove series. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. There is a beautiful, pure connection between Noah and Ivy, one that strengthens them both when they need it most. While each book has its own story, there is also a heart-pounding paranormal mystery that begins with the first book, and continues with each book after. Anyone who loves PNR will surely love this book, this entire series! It was so good, I already want to go back to the first book, and read them all again!

All in I still loved the book minus my griping ..more like wishes? It probably has more to do with that I waited so long for it. DMB is my go to for funny , sarcastic, kick-ass character and awesome battles and its been sooooo long! Maybe when I do a reread with all over them now it will make more sense But I hate to say it. I loved the book but was the wait worth it? Sorta. I loved everyone like always I especially loved the parts of Ash, Greer and Iva or Greer , Iva and Noah...let's just face it I love Greer but and here's where i Gripe ? Rant? Want? Found confusing? Anyway i ended the story feeling like things were left undone...parts unfinished. The other books to this series you felt the couple was finished just the storyline continued. I ended the book feeling ... Alright with it but unfinished. Here this is what I mean..
1. Parker and Amara weren't really in this book. Parker had a sentence. Amara had a mini battle.... But that's it. Ok it's not thier book but we've gotten used to them besides Amara is the shifter tree right? 2. Milo and Sana... What's going on with them? They had parts in the beginning that were normal but by the end of the book it felt like they were just filler ... What's going on with them? Are they going to get counseling? Whatever happened to that "Talk" Noah said they had to have with them but we never saw? It felt like something was coming but never did. 3. Iva and Noah. It other stories the couple had more couple time... In here they really didn't. We didn't get to really see Noah as Prime either. It felt like the demon and battles took over there togetherness.. 4. There were other little things, comments that were said that they needed to do or check out but it never happened. Like Shawn for one.
Ok I get it some was left open for the next books... But ..but... Ok with those books we will only see it from the outside.. hear about it AFTER. The talk with the kids.. finding out about Noah and Shawn... Would have been better in THIS book. And the epilogue could have been longer before Carter came rushing in with that. Like maybe closer with the kids and THEN Carter? Because as it stood even that part left me a bit annoyed and I'll say it lost. Like could we have had a bit more?....
I still love the series and the Author and I still can NOT wait for sounds familiar and every other book.
Sadly this is a dnf for me. I rate it 1.5. I only just picked this series up in the last week. Overall it was an ok series. I found the writing easy to read but where it tried to be funny I found it corny. I was looking forward to Noah and Iva's book. I feel like their story has been building from the third book. I was kind of dissapointed in the way Noah was portrayed in his own book. Throughout we see Noah being the biggest baddest wolf and yet he just felt flat and boring in his own story. In all honesty you don't have to read the series just read the last book because they recap every dam thing thats happened in the previous books. Which is really annoying when you just read it not so long ago. I don't mind a little reminding of what has happened in earlier books (say the first book) but not every bloody thing. But all these things is not what made me put my kindle down and not want to pick it back up. Nope that would be that the last book throws all continuality out the dam window. For example when Noah tells Iva about Amara and how she is a Hamadryad its like this is the first time shes heard of it but hang on didn't the four ruling Dryads know about Amara and only stayed away because of her guardian Glinda wanted her to grow up normally so the four guardians including Iva waited for her to come of age. Also for people who kept away from town Iva seemed to know alot of people I.e the Witch Doctor, Eddy. The last straw was when Noah surprises Iva in her secret underground home and he tells her that he seen someone put in the sequence in the security pad so he snuck in. Wait wait in Ash and Selena's book didn't Ash tell Selena that Mina gave him access the day after they rescued Iva. At this point I gave up. The book is full of recaps and and missteps. I feel robed for Noah and Iva. I can't say I would recommend this series.
I think I did myself a disservice joining the series at book 5. There appears to be *a lot* of characters floating around with lots of stories that I felt very lost trying to keep track of. As a paranormal romance, though, it is super unique.
Iva has just recovered from some horrible torture/kidnapping from the big bad Van Helsings. Noah, who apparently discovered that Iva was his mate, has been trying to balance sitting by Iva's tree and managing the North American shifters. They are both rulers in their races, so them coming together is a great match. Iva seems like a free spirit, worried more about others than herself, but pairs off nicely with Noah. Noah, who has taken to being an adoptive father to two young kids, is the real-world to her wandering mind. Oh, and there's chemistry that lights up the page.
The larger storyline here, other than their fated mate status, is hunting down the big bad. They use all of their larger paranormal network to their limits - there's magic, dragons, unicorns, vampires, shifters, ghosts - you name it! Their combined power might be able to keep the bad at bay and give us a happy for now ending, but it's clear there's still more story to be had.

Now that she’s back, Noah’s relief is matched only by his desire to drag the feisty dryad to his house to complete their mating bond. I used to read this author a long time ago, before I got so bogged down in reviewing books, so I was excited to read something from her. Unfortunately, I wish it hadn’t been the 5th in a series. It made things a little confusing for me. However, I still enjoyed the story and characters. I look forward to reading more from her in the future. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book

the story of the book was amazing. the only problem is that since the next book comes with such a huge gap, I for one tend to forget the past events of the last book. But, i still hope that the author keeps on writing amazing stories like this.
I absolutely loved this book. The characters were so intense. This book is so well written that you can actually picture yourself as the main character , very vivid. I recommend this book.
