A very informative and entertaining book, its cultural history of pre 1947 Delhi not the chronological account of historical events. If anybody has any affiliations with the city of Delhi than this is a go to book it shows how things have changed since the partition of India how times changes, how culture has transformed after that traumatic event.

What really affected me is the last chapter in which Shahid Ahmad Dehalvi narrated the anti-Muslim riots in Delhi this is really graphic and shows the true nature of situation in September of 1947.

After going through the entire book, one must feel the deficiency that is quiet glaring, that is the almost complete absence of the account of Hindus of Delhi barring one Pandit Amarnath Dehalvi this part of society which was in majority should have been represented like the Muslims. I really fail to understand why there is almost lack of mention of old Hindu families this could have been due to the polarization that erupted during the Pakistan movement or might be his personal preferences.
