With the Black Blade on the brink of death, there’s only one thing a fake princess can do: save him.
But saving Thalassar’s most notorious criminal could either doom her, or finally clean up her image in the eyes of the mer.
Now under the watchful tutelage of the Queen’s advisor, Maisie must face royal duties, hide a criminal, avoid her guard, and ally with a prince. All while fighting her feelings for the three mermen in the kingdom she can never have.
Danger grows each passing day as royal secrets begin to unravel. Secrets that, once she discovers them, could very well cost Maisie her life.

I started this book around 7 last night after my daughter went to bed, I literally didn't put it down until it was finished. I finished late, I had to be at work at 5 this morning and my eyeballs were on fire but I don't care. It was totally worth it. Except now I have to wait for the next one.
I loved this one even more than the first book. I feel like Maisie really grew into her own person... which is a hard thing to accomplish when she has to pretend to be someone else. Her character is so much stronger and I love it. I also love the black blade. He is kind of like the mermaid robin hood. He fits with Maisie so well! Her guard is growing on me.. he is starting to realize his errors. I am looking forward to seeing how their relationship develops (if it does.. I am just assuming he is part of the harem). And then we have the Prince. I love the dragon prince. He was so sweet and dominate in this book. it was amazing. I am a little worried about how he will act when he finds out the truth about his princess. I am actually super nervous about that.
I loved this book. I am anxiously waiting for the next one. I highly recommend this series!
Omg,omg, omg another great book. I think it was even better than book one. All the mystery too it and suspense. Plus humor and romance. What is there not too love about this book. Great job aleera keep up the great writing. I definitely can't wait too read more.
First of all let’s all take a minute because KAI <3
This book was just amazing! I mean, my god. There’s so much going on. And it was so hot and I just... I don’t have words. I absolutely love the universe and the characters and I cannot wait for the next book.
I am fascinated with the emotional tides in this book and the previous book. There is so much to keep your attention, drama, mystery, and the unending confusion that love can drag your heart through. The story keeps me coming back for more and I can't put the book down until the end. Now I'm lost waiting for the next book. I really need to know where this goes! Hopefully the wait isn't too long! A must read series!
if you loved the first one then you will most definitely love the second.
I started this one almost as soon as i finished the first one and i was entraced my maisie and her boys, i finished it in one sitting and This one picks up right were the first one ends. this book answers some questions but leaves you asking more, everything about this one is enthralling. You get more inside to what it was like for Odelle and how Maisie deals with it all.
Elias starts to help Maisie on her search for clues and will they search things get a little steamy for them, till one of them pulls away and leaves the other. Tiberius is still growing and accepting how he feels for the princess and Maisie, i started to really understand him in this one but hes still on the fence for me. i know book 3 will help with that once i get into it. Now lets get to my baby, Prince Kai hes everything anyone could want, some of his secrets are let out but i think we are just touching the surface of his secrets and what he can actually do, things get rather steamy for him and maisie as well. i cant wait to see how the dynamic changes with all of them next book.
"What are you so afraid of?" he whispered, darkly. "You."
Whispers Beneath the Deep had it all! Lust, scheming, adventure and secrets! In book two we follow Maisie as she tries to figure out what to do about the Black Blade staring at death. Will she break character to help free him, or condemn him to death.
Maisie continues to grow finding a happy medium between pretending to be Princess Odele and still being true to herself. Prince Kai grows on me more and more throughout this series. I loved watching all of the character arcs and can't wait to continue to watch which direction they take.
The plot continues as Maisie tries to discover how and why Princess Odele went missing. Everytime you think you figured one missing piece out, another shows up changing your opinion!
Make sure you have book three handy, you won't want to stop reading!
The previous book was about a peasant doppelganger of a lost princess stepping into a role of deceptive royalty to better the lives of those being selected to fight a war with no apparent meaning. In this book, Masie grows more comfortable in delegations and planting herself further into the mystery of the missing lookalike, and the relationships she forms begin to bloom. Marie also learns perhaps not everything floats on the surface for all to see.I
Tiberius has started questioning his feelings for the counterfeit princess, Prince Kai is swoon worthy, and the Black Blade etched himself into Masie's heart.
The editing is much better this go around. I plan on keeping a lookout for the next book.
We continue the story where the first book ended and whoa, this was such a rollercoaster! I was so ready to pummel Elias in the beginning and what he did to Maisie. But it also provided us with a delicious action moment and got us a glimpse of the ruthlessness in him.
I love how Maisie grew in this book. She's understanding the world she is in now better and she is actively finding her voice. The developments with all her men was also really good to see, I'm very curious to find out what happens on the romantic side next.
The mystery of Odele is still a big part of the story and we got some delicious nuggets in that front too. It makes me want to see more and more of the story and I cannot wait to jump into the next book!!
What an excellent continuation of Maisie’s story. It was pretty cool to see her coming out of her shell and sticking up for what she believes is right. I totally love that she is a take no crap kind of girl! Loved that things starting heating up between her and some of the men as well. I can’t wait to see what happens when Kai finds out who she really is!
This was, as always, an addictive and sleep depriving read. One you need to finish before you can shut your eyes because you just gotta know!! Maisie really came into herself in this instalment and you’re starting to see her character develop well. Am I secretly hoping for a 4 way? I may be.....but I’m enjoying getting to know more about all the characters involved and being submerged in this watery world once again. Roll on book 3!!!
This book shows us that the princess may have ran away rather than be kidnapped. We’re further endeared to Kai and Elias. I’m not here for Tiberius at all. Calling her a bottom feeder and then tried to tell her she was more like princess than she thought after he’s been unnecessarily harsh with her.
Maisie is finding out more and more about the Malabella family.
-Multiple POV, mainly female MC -3 possible love interests -steam happens during this book, not fade to black, but not very descriptive either -cliffhanger, but series is complete as of this review -lots of secrets, mystery, angst, forbidden love, royal v commoner, war Can’t wait to see how this progresses. Have really enjoyed so far.
The relationships aren’t really hitting the spot for me it’s feels like something is missing or maybe they are a bit rushed. Some bullying or what I mean to say one of the supposed harem members is a total Alpha-hole, there I said it. This also doesn’t really feel like an RH, when she’s with a different guy it feels like cheating Maybe things will settle in the next book
Check CW and TW. Ok book 2 picks up right where book 1 left us. And wow just wow things are getting so complicated for Maisie. First Elias that rogue is so complicated there is no other way to describe him. Kai is a prince after all our hearts. ❤️. Tiberius is so confused about his feelings for our girl that I’m loving it! Ok running for book 3.
The story continues right where we left off with Maisie staring down the death of the black blade at the hands of an executioners axe. Against all odds Maisie puts herself in danger to save him. He betrays her to save his own skin (fin? Lol) and puts Maisie once again at odds with the queen. However, the black blade isn't the villain here, not really. And Maisie still hasn't figured out what happened to the princess and what caused her to leave.
Maisie is still a strong yet naive main character but she is still determined help her people in whatever way she can. She's supposed to be a princess isn't she? She can change the world if she puts her mind to it. With the help of her would be fiancé and her captain of the guard Maisie has to stay alive long enough to solve the mystery of the princess and make a difference for the people.
I did like this one better than the last book and it ups the spice level and proves just why this book is a reverse harem. Definitely will continue the series. It's super cute and well written and I love all the aspects of the sea that the author puts in. It's an adult version of the little mermaid animated series and I am here for it.
✓ mermaids ✓ hot and steamy ✓ Pseudo-princess x bodyguard ✓ arranged marriage to a royalty ✓ dragon mate ✓ political and societal issues ✓ brilliant world building ✓ mystery
This one heats up a fair bit amass brings the final group count a bit more into focus. I’m still on the fence about the guard though. Only draw back? This felt far too short.
I like the different take on the mermaid reverse harem and the HEA/FN ending that we get at the end of book 4. This is a slow burn, but the story is really innovative and fun.
