When other people talk about self-love, does the concept of even liking yourself seem confusing and impossible? Feeling Better: A Field Guide to Liking Yourself is a collection of concrete practices, habits, and tools to teach your brain and heart one basic truth: that you are an awesome and wholly valuable person, offered from someone who’s been there.
This book makes you feel like you have a best friend right by your side giving you not only hope, but practical tools to bring into your day to day to help with feelings of low self worth, depression and anxiety. As someone who has read a lot of self-help and personal development books, this one stands out because the author Andrea Loewen is so honest about her own journey, sharing stories and how she got to a place of truly liking herself. It's really nice to read a book written by someone who has actually been there and has found a way out. I love all the tools she gives and have started implementing some already, and I'm already noticing a difference.
Full disclosure: I am the person whose quote appears on the back panel of Feeling Better: A Field Guide to Liking Yourself (and meant every word). But that shouldn't disqualify me from writing a review after purchasing my own copy and reading it. I found A Field Guide a brave and personal story about dealing with depression. With each chapter dealing with different coping mechanisms, it is a valuable resource for others looking for practical and valuable advice.
