[Siren Classic ManLove: Alternative Paranormal Romance, MM, shape-shifter]
Is it wrong to do something morally ambiguous if you’re doing it to save the life of another? This is the dilemma Jake has found himself in as he works the dating sites, conning men out of cash as he strings them along but using the cash to pay his brother’s hospital bills. Jake will do anything to save Nate and working double shifts at the diner isn’t enough, so when he stumbled upon this hustle, Jake tucked his shame away and plays the game “dating” up to four or five men at a time. But, DarkAndMysterious032 is different and Jake doesn’t want to keep the charade going, and he doesn’t want to hurt this man.
“Dark was only one of his marks, forbidden fruit and nothing more. Usually, Jake would work his latest victim and try to get him to send over more cash, but his business with Dark was done. Besides, what did a lonely woodsman have to offer? Jake had done enough damage, and it would continue to gut his soul if he continued playing with Dark like this.”
Sweet story about a con man, Jake, who unwittingly conned his dragon mate. The dragon, Dark, was a bit peeved and tracks Jake down, only to discover that they are, in fact, mates.
I world have liked to have seen more development between these two, as Dark kidnaps Jake, but didn't really expect it from this author and this length of the story.
The Internet has created an entire new set of crimes. Many involve stealing, cyberbullying, illicit groups meeting secretly on the dark web. Identity thievery - siphoning money out of another's account, claiming someone else's deed. The list goes on. But losing money is one thing - getting hurt losing your heart also is doubly cruel.
Catfishing - stringing along several men in this story, collecting for a variety of made up reasons as much money as possible, while pretending to be carrying on a relationship. Stringing these poor souls along until the money dries up or fear of getting caught makes the crook move on to greener (dollar bill green) pastures.
But what if the person is getting the money for a altruistic reason? Does that excuse or mitigate his cruel behavior? What a quandary? Lose the person you love the most or be responsible for others losing their life savings, not to mention their hearts to a scam artist. How contemptible!
But despite how much care is taken, the thief of hearts (and money) never knows who he is actually catfishing. What if the victim turns out out to be a huge, very temperamental Dragon, with the cryptic name Dark? Who happens to know someone with the knowledge to backtrack the heart thief. what happens if the thief is paid a visit one night by a very angry victim? A fire breathing victim...
This was a nice beginning to a new series about fated mates, but there is NO Mpreg though there is a HEA.
Meh... I’ve been lagging at everything this week... Getting up in the morning... getting the kid to school... getting to work... and having a book picked out and ready to read...
I didn’t do any of those with reasonable timing this week. Therefor I end up with last minute books that may or may not be kind of be what I’m looking for...
This was not... I liked the idea... Con artist and his mark. Don’t think I’ve read many like that before...
Anyways Jake is catfishing men out of “travel” money to come see them, or course it’s all for a good cause. Dark is an overly broody dragon that’s pretty sure “Tom” (Jake) is his mate. Unfortunately Jake cons $200 from Dark and ghosts him (that’s what that’s called right? Ghosting??) Anywho Dark wants answers and goes to find Jake. Story was pretty good until there. But once Dark snatches Jake from the street and gets him to his house everything turns into that typical mediocre attempt at plot and romance..
Blah...
He had a feeling a dominant male dragon shifter like Dark had possession written in his bones, but he didn’t mind being claimed, being owned by such a splendid man.
..... being owned by such a “splendid” man.... sorry I do not want to be owned my a splendid man I want to be owned by a naughty, powerful, manly man.... not splendid.
Jake is fighting to keep his brother alive and does so by scamming guys online except he picks the wrong one when he encounters Dark.
A fine read with a character who feels awful about what he has to do but does it for his brother. He bites off more than he can chew when he talks up someone online by the name of Dark. Dark tracks him down and is willing to teach him a lesson.
This was an enjoyable, but bittersweet, romance. Jake is catfishing guys on a dating site and falsely getting money from them so he can keep his brother alive who's in the hospital in a coma. He meets his mate, Dark, in the process which changes his whole life. This was a very heartwarming, and steamy story. =)
