Rate this book
Discover a wickedly funny fantasy that The Princess Bride meets Once Upon a Time. Perfect for fans of fractured fairy tales!

Geoffrey P. Ward’s Rule for Success #1: Never fall in love with heroines.

Ella is the most beautiful, kind, loving, and incredible person Dove Reynolds has ever known. For years, he has watched her from afar, hoping for a chance to win her heart, but what chance does a lowly undergardener have in winning such a girl? But when he overhears Ella wishing to go to the Royal Ball, Dove sees his opportunity to sweep her off her feet, if he can only find a way to get her there…

Magic Slippers is a blending of all the classic Cinderella stories with a healthy dose of cynicism and snark that shows that not all happily ever afters end the way we expect.

Though part of the
Villainy Consultant Series, this is the standalone novella and can be read on its own.

Buy your copy today and leap into a new fantasy world where not all magic is good and not all endings are happily ever after.

Born and raised in Anchorage, M.A. Nichols is a lifelong Alaskan, though she briefly ventured south to get a fancy bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree from Utah State University—neither of which had anything to do with why she became an author, but they kept her alive while launching her publishing career.

As a child she despised reading, but thanks to her mother’s love and persistence, she saw the error of her ways and developed a deep and abiding obsession with books. Currently, she writes sweet historical romance and fantasy, but as a lover of many genres, she plans to explore more in the future.

This book is really the story of how Dove the gardener’s assistant lost his youthful optimism. He sacrificed much for Ella. Too bad he’s a terrible judge of character and blinded by a pretty face. But even if Ella was all that he had fantasized her to be, he totally helped her for the wrong reasons. People are not vending machines. You don’t hand out kindness for something in return. So yeah, they were both flawed. From a purely technical standpoint, it was an interesting take on the fairytale. So if you’re interested in how people have retold Cinderella, check this book out for ideas. MA Nichols really has a talent for reworking old tales. I gave this one two stars because while the writing was great, I just didn’t care for the story.
