Штука-Дрюка

Rate this book

How big and scary do you think a big, lumpy and bumpy sleeping crocodile could be?

Mole loves to put words on stickers. He knows quite a bit about the plants, flowers, rocks, trees and animals that thrive where he lives. It doesn't seem to bother the other little creatures in the forest when he tags them with his labels. One day, he encounters something that he has never seen before.

He poked it gently.
Then he stuck a label on it.
And another...
… and then a few more.
But he still didn't know what it was.

Moles labels read gargantuan, scaly, huge, speckled, spotted and so many more. When the sleeping creature awakens and begins to gobble up the labels this makes Mole very upset. As a matter of fact he gets so angry that he begins to yell at the burpy, lumpy, greedy and naughty thing. Do you suppose Mole would be eaten next?

Author and illustrator Tim Warnes has created a tale of wonderful words. Young readers will chuckle at all of the sticky notes and learn so many new words. Hilarious and quirky pictures and oversized wording really put a fun spin on this story. Parents and teachers will love this as a read-aloud book that could be very interactive. Readers will have fun pointing out the familiar objects, animals, insects and plants too.

Mole loved to label everything in sight! One day, Mole saw a huge green thing and Mole was intrigued. He labeled him all over, but then the huge green thing moved and scared Mole half to death. It was a crocodile, and when it woke up, he loved Mole and followed him everywhere. Mole told him to go away and that he was naughty, which made the crocodile very sad. Mole realized what he had done and decided to label him, “friend.”

Major themes include friendship, diversity, and labeling others is hurtful.

I found this book fun to read and loved the underlying message of the book. Labeling others is hurtful and can affect many people. Having an open mind and being accepting of others is really important for children to learn.

I would recommend this book because it is great for learning. The book starts off with Mole labeling everything he sees, which are nouns. Once Mole starts labeling the crocodile, he uses adjectives. This is a great way to teach kids about nouns and adjectives. I would also recommend this book because it is an easy, fun read that teaches children a very valuable lesson about being accepting of others.

A mole who likes to label everything and a crocodile who discovers a passion for eating labels? I knew I was going to love this book from the moment I read its description.

Mole’s labels are many and varied, there are nouns, like “snail” and “moss” “twig” and “poo”. And when he discovers a mysterious green lump on the path his labels venture into adjective territory, “lumpy” “bumpy” “bobbly” and a bit of “nobbly”. But when the thing wakes up, a new label is required. The only problem is that the thing starts eating Mole’s labels while simultaneously following him around.

I’m at a loss to find the right words for how great this book is. In the vein of Mole, I’m going to string together a bunch of labels; great, original, quirky, tasty, heart-warming, splendid. A crocodile puppet or felt and some labels (from the book, or suggested by your audience) would make for a truly awesome storytelling event.

This is a heart-warming, sweet, funny book about a mole who loves to label EVERYTHING...feather, ladybug, pebble, poop(!)...EVERYTHING! One day he came across something unusual and strange that he couldn't name. So he labeled it with adjectives...lumpy, bumpy, strange, wrinkly and so on. And then the lumpy, bumpy thing woke up and wanted to be his friend! Plus the lumpy, bumpy thing ate all the labels the little mole had stuck to him! Gasp! Oh that mole was quite upset and proceeded to hurt the lumpy, bumpy things feelings :o( I won't tell you anything more about that lumpy, bumpy thing, but your little ones will love this book. Don't miss reading a single one of those vocabulary words stuck to everything. They add so much to the story. Then go out and label everything YOU can with your child!

A bright, colourful book full of lots of vocabulary and talking points. I had no clue what this book was suppose to be about and was pleasantly surprised at the tale of friendship it involved. My son loved looking at the pictures and was engaged throughout.

A fabulous story about friendship! I read this for storytime and I can't recommend it enough. You do have to commit to reading all the labels, but that is the important part of the book. Don't label something without understanding it... you could be wrong. ;)

Parent Perspective:
This is a book my then preschooler would have wanted to read hundreds of times! I would have gladly obliged because with all those labels, there is plenty to explore and dig into! This is a must-have for preschoolers and kids learning to read. Mole's labeling is a great way to introduce word labels in your own home, too. Get more in the full review.

Eskareiden satutunneille. Lapset ei meinaa pysyä paikallaan, kun kaikki haluaa nähdä, mitä kaikkea Myyrä on keksinyt laputtaa. Oivallinen kirja pohjustamaan lukemaan opettelemista. Tämän jälkeen lapsille voi vetää oman laputusprojektin, jossa he saavat laputtaa huoneessa olevia esineitä. Voisi toimia myös vieraiden kielten opiskeluun samalla tavalla.

A nice story about mole, who feels the need to label everything and everyone, and a crocodile who eats the labels, much to mole's frustration. The story ends with friendship between the two, although really, there isn't much that shows exactly why mole has a change of heart, except that the mole feels bad for how it has treated the crocodile.

Hauskasti kuvitettu teos.

Mole labels everything in the forest by isn’t sure what croc is. He labels him lumpy, bumpy and finally dangerous. Croc eats all the labels until mole gets upset. Croc writes his own labels: Sorry & Friend

This was hilarious and touching. A mole likes to label things. Everything. He starts putting labels all over a large green bumpy thing, which turns out to be an alligator. An alligator who loves Mole and follows him everywhere, much to the annoyance of Mole. 😂
